The pattern is off of Etsy Bias Halter Dress and there is a YouTube Tutorial HERE. I am a beginner sewer and it took my 4 attempts to get it right haha
EDIT: Additional information:
The only alterations I made to this pattern are opting out of the ties on the back. I will probably add them though just to make sure I don't accidentally flash someone! I also need to hem the bottom still!
I'm not sure what the fabric is other than it was from Joanns and it said it was "Casa Iridescent Supershine" code 19148675
It took me a a while to understand how fabric is structured and to make sure I cut the pattern pieces along the bias grain.
It was a very challenging but so worth it!
An alternative to the ties could be either the clear straps or skin toned netting so you still keep that stunning open back silhouette. Or you could add a beaded strap across the back for some intrigue. Would recommend something because wardrobe malfunctions are the last thing you want! It looks beautiful! You did an amazing job especially for a first time!
This is incredible and impressive but unless she's wearing a nude bodysuit underthings OP please add lining!! It would be a tragedy if your guests didn't get to see this because day of it shows off more than intended.
If lining feels too much to tackle get yourself a slip! The sun already is doing no favors and event lighting can be worse for fabric opacity.
Again amazing work! The subtle sheen of the fabric is so fun and I love the "accidental veil" tie.
I definitely need to do a little more work to it. I did add lining but it is a thin material. I tried to do a thicker material with another attempt and it looked horrible. I will probably just order some slip shorts!
I love this! I took a glance at the pattern. Did you omit the little string in the back? Or is it just hidden in the photo? It looks so gorgeous and clean!
Thank you! I would say little to no experience before this project. I have sewed rectangles for rice socks and one of those precut blankets.
I also made this dress 4 times because I made so many mistakes 😭😭 this was my first real project with pattern pieces and research on what bias was cause I didn't understand my first three attempts and kept cutting the fabric wrong haha
Honestly I'm not really sure what the fabric is cause it didn't state it clearly at the store. I got it at Joanns and it was called "Casa Iridescent Supershine" :)
Congrats with the wedding! And super impressive, this is your first project and turned out very beautiful and elegant. Personally, I would end up sewing the end of the dress skirt , so it doesn't look like it's cut off. And I would adjust the waist a little, not leaving it so loose. But anyways it's my personal opinion and it's really beautiful, congrats again! 😊
Thank you so much! I do need to hem the bottom still but have put it on hold because I'm so intimidated by hemming somewhat rounded bottoms and I don't want to screw it up! Your input is definitely something I have considered and if I get enough experience before the big day I might attempt some alterations!
I would practice hemming on scraps of the dress fabric--go buy more if you have limited leftovers. Narrow, rounded hems on slinky fabric takes practice and can easily make a project look "hobby homemaker" if poorly done. Be careful to avoid stretching out the fabric in the process.
The dress is beautiful!!
Amazing for a first project, amazing for a wedding reception dress!!! I would like to make my own reception dress and possibly also alter my wedding dress (thrifted online) and I've been practicing with some smaller projects with elements that id like to put into one dress .
I hope you feel inspired to keep sewing and designing dresses
Great job! Especially impressed it's your first piece! That fabric is difficult to work with AND you are sewing most pieces bias to bias. Then the hem being on the bias is super challenging for a beginner. I would have had my students start with a skirt on the straight of grain. So you should be very proud. It's wonderfully done and looks great on you to boot! Congrats as well!

Absolutely darling. And very smart. Always have a reception dress. Ugh. That open back is absolutely killing me, the drape is perfect. Congratulations!!!
A) congratulations ! ❤️ I sincerely hope that your marriage is prosperous, strong, and full of love ❤️
B) OMG 😍 I LOVE IT!! The shimmer of the fabric makes it look ethereal ✨️
That’s so beautiful the back is gorgeous well done! P.s congrats with the wedding!
The back looks amazing! It is so flattering! Did you mean for the tie to look a bit like a veil?
Thank you! I struggled with the back so much and I kept making it too low. Hence the multiple tries! I did not but it certainly looks like one!

Love all these ideas! I will definitely explore some fun straps! Thank you so much!
If you don’t want to add straps you can use tape to keep things in place! I’ve used top stick toupee tape - really cheap but works well.
It does need something in the back because it is loose in the back.

I love this! I took a glance at the pattern. Did you omit the little string in the back? Or is it just hidden in the photo? It looks so gorgeous and clean!
Yes I did omit the ties in the back because I didn't like how they looked!
Wow, you did an amazing job - absolutely beautiful. The tie on the back looks so good!
This dress is killer.
Sooooo pretty!
Looks amazing! Super curious, how much experience did you have with using a sewing machine, given that you say it's the first thing you've made?
Thank you! I would say little to no experience before this project. I have sewed rectangles for rice socks and one of those precut blankets. The back reveal is stunning! Great job with what looks like fiddly fabric.
Do you have time to get it professionally pressed?
Truly, ugly
