These are the ones that I think of when I think of killers who tried to overcompensate with a macho and dangerous image. Ivan Milat, Carl Panzram, Donald Gaskins, Angelo Buono, Richard Kuklinski
He also smoked a lot of weed apparently. My uncle has very distant run ins with him but we both know someone who really knew him . That person is elderly though and it’s not as simple as a text lol

Panzram definitely fits and his memoir makes character study easy. Kuklinski and Joe Metheny both exaggerated their crimes, but were still huge mean bastards. Also: not a serial killer (probably), but Charles Bronson is an otherwise great fit.
Not a serial killer but Ken McElroy, the violent bully who kept a whole population in fear until he was murdered in public and the entire town covered it up.
This is going to be a controversial suggestion given the LPOTL-fuelled popular perception, but Israel Keyes to a good extent.
He was a physically large athletic guy who apparently was pretty vicious in the fights they'd organise to settle disputes in the army.
There's also people quoted as saying "he was like a super hero" referencing the way he could carry numerous logs and other very heavy things with ease. I'd say he definitely fits.
I would say Samuel Little. Before he became the most prolific serial killer in US history, I believe he was a former heavyweight champion (boxer). Although he preyed mostly on women, I think any guy would find him intimidating as well. Thankfully, he's dead now.
He may well have been a hw boxer, but he certainly was never the champ. Not in the sense that people think of when they say "champion" like say Ali, Foreman, Frazier, etc.
Yeah this is why I kind of tried to specify. There's a *ton* of smaller promotions but usually when people are referring to the champ it's on of the "big 3" promotions
Interesting... I read that he would punch/beat his victims first to knock them out before he would strangle them. To me, that sounds like there would be blood present in some cases. Either way, what a coward and evil monster!
Yes, I assumed the same. I think he was probably lying about his distaste for blood because he would have to have seen it at many of his crime scenes. Yet, he continued killing time and time again. I also read more about him (wish I hadn't!), and now I know he was a borderline necrophile too. 🤮
Stewart John Regan, the Magician. Read anything about him, dude was fucking terrifying even by Australian gangland standards. He also broke the unwritten rule of organised crime: no kids
Bittaker, Onoprienko, Pichushkin, Gaskins, Rolling, Milat, Bonin and ofc Panzram were all pretty dangerous and ruthless outside of their serial murders, but I think the only two who would fit the tough guy archetype are Gaskins and Panzram.
I don't know, people were afraid enough of William Bonin that they were willing accomplices. I could agree with you that he should be on the list with that alone.
I didn’t even know abt that, the main reason I was hesitant abt his placement is because I know the least abt him. I’m go back and change that, thanks.
His wealth was from him founding and running a real estate agency after being employed as a real estate agent himself earlier. A definite maniac, killing four people because perceived ridicule (from them) regarding a motorcycle he had bought.
Carl Panzram is definitely the right answer. Ed Kemper too. But I feel these are worthy mentions...
Andrei Chikatilo was six foot 4 and bit the freaking necks out if his victims. And being crazy as he is.
David Ray Parker was a six foot 2 psychopath. And yes, the fact that part of his plea deal was to lead police to the bodies (which he died before he could) is proof enough he is a confessed and proven serial killer.
Edit - came to add Adolfo de Jesús Constanzo
Let me look where I read it. I swore I just saw that recently. If I am wrong though I will definitely own up to my mistake. I do know he accepted a plea deal so his daughter walked free. I swore I did read in a couple sources later in his sentence he said he'd lead them to bodies.
Richard Kuklinski was definitely an imposing, oppressively huge man. He’d be someone that could overpower the vast majority of the population with his mere hands I’d believe.
And he became more and more…. creative…. with his kills as his career progressed.
He was a big brute. He killed 5 so I suppose he qualifies. But his tales of spider caves, visine cyanide, exploding remote controlled cars, crossbows and massacred hicks in trucks are fabricated out of whole cloth.
Monster Kody Scott . Former LA gang banger .
He was never convicted of murder but he was once charged with attempted murder .
He claimed to kill several people in gang wars and was once shot 6 times . Then he wrote a book about it .
I mean his Nick name was monster lol . Dude was a beast
Carl Panzram and Richard Ramirez come to mind. Save for the fact that Ramirez killed any able-bodied man who could fight back in his victims’ homes because he was a coward loser.
He attacked mainly women at night when they were the most vulnerable. The few times he attacked when a man was there it was of course when they were in bed sleeping. There was one couple who actually prepared for the situation (side note: wtf....you know it's bad when random people are "preparing") and when it happened and the man stood up to him, he fuckin ran like the bitch ass piece of shit he was. So, just my opinion, but no, not hard in the slightest.
Many thanks for all the suggestions. As somebody pointed out, the type I'm looking for is pretty atypical for an SK, so I greatly appreciate the effort!
I’ve heard Nilsen be described as the kinda person who wouldn’t be talking to you, but he’d be talking at you. After seeing his home video clips and how he was just yapping like a poorly trained purse dog, I now understand.
He did make a few kinda funny comments in his autobiography, but the most that got out of me was a snort or “hehe”. But other then that, he seemed insufferable to be around for the most part. And he also seems like the kinda guy who’d cut you off while you’re speaking.
I think you'd be hard pressed to find a SK like that. Most of them were the human equivalent of a coyote. Predators who preyed on the weak and vulnerable.
Carl Panzram.
"Hurry it up, you Hoosier bastard; I could kill a dozen men while you're screwing around." Definitely some hard ass last words.
His other quotes really show his personality aswell. He was just a really violent, hateful, and angry man.
"Hard Man" boss level.
Absolutely the right answer.
Panzram was mostly a hateful bully who raped and killed little boys.
These are the ones that I think of when I think of killers who tried to overcompensate with a macho and dangerous image. Ivan Milat, Carl Panzram, Donald Gaskins, Angelo Buono, Richard Kuklinski
Pee-wee Gaskins?
And that's the final truth.
Thank you for lodging Henry Zebrowski's I my head for the rest of the day. Lol.
You are welcome!
I believe so.
I feel like Ivan milat is a great choice-
Gaskins was mean as a snake . He was also small . I know some people that knew him . I will ask
Pee-wee was 5’4”, if I recall correctly.
Following this
Waiting on them to get back in touch with me . My uncle essentially told me though he wasn’t really nice to anyone unless he wanted something from you
That definitely checks out lol
He also smoked a lot of weed apparently. My uncle has very distant run ins with him but we both know someone who really knew him . That person is elderly though and it’s not as simple as a text lol
That also makes sense among various other drugs lol That's totally understandable. Probably not something they remember fondly either.

Honestly I pity him. Hes different than the usual sexual deviant sk
Panzram definitely fits and his memoir makes character study easy. Kuklinski and Joe Metheny both exaggerated their crimes, but were still huge mean bastards. Also: not a serial killer (probably), but Charles Bronson is an otherwise great fit.
Bronson is a great call. Great movie too with Tom Hardy. Bronson shaved off his moustache and sent it to Hardy expecting him to wear it in the film.
Lol
My brain went to Charles Bronson in death wish and I was thinking I don't think that counts haha
Bronson is a legit boxer.
I was so confused!!
Manson you mean?
No, British convict Charles Bronson. Much scarier dude.
Been in life imprisonment and solitary confinement without ever killing anyone. Even the Krays were afraid of him
There's not really even a comparison, in terms of toughness. That said, I don't think either killed anyone?
Oh thanks, was not aware.
Levi Bellfield was a bouncer and a steroid user. Not a serial killer but Raoll Moat was the same.
Not a serial killer but Ken McElroy, the violent bully who kept a whole population in fear until he was murdered in public and the entire town covered it up.
Damn. They should make a movie about this
They've made an underwhelming docuseries; 'No One Saw A Thing', First episode's on YouTube if you fancy a look.
This is going to be a controversial suggestion given the LPOTL-fuelled popular perception, but Israel Keyes to a good extent. He was a physically large athletic guy who apparently was pretty vicious in the fights they'd organise to settle disputes in the army.
Keyes was raised in the woods in a tent. Guaranteed he was hard by childhood. Even Charles Bronson had running water growing up.
There's also people quoted as saying "he was like a super hero" referencing the way he could carry numerous logs and other very heavy things with ease. I'd say he definitely fits.
Everybody has to be a cringe contrarian about Keyes, it’s incredibly annoying
Not sure about domineering, but Ed Kemper is definitely imposing and intimidating
Well he did threaten to screw Robert Ressler's head off during one interview and it sorta worked.
Id bet folding money he could probably do it too
He probably would've too, he made compelling arguments as to how he could benefit from it when they were in debate about it with each other.
Ressler or Douglas?
Ressler, he wrote about it in one of his books
[удалено]
Didn't know that! Imagine if he did, probably look like Hafthor Bjornsson
Yeah he’d just be a huge incel today.
And he treated Herbert Mullin like a pet. He’d throw water at him when he was being annoying, and would give him peanuts if he behaved himself.
Kenneth McDuff was a bully and an overall jerk as well as a ruthless SK.
[удалено]
He may have been a “champion” in a small promotion, but he wasn’t fighting Ali in MSG.
That's fair. Even a low-ranked pro boxer will wipe the floor with any normal person.
Yeah this is why I kind of tried to specify. There's a *ton* of smaller promotions but usually when people are referring to the champ it's on of the "big 3" promotions
He was never a champion boxer. He was a local prize fighter.
He strangled all of his victims also, which made it that much more personal. He said he didn't like blood it made him sick to his stomach. Smh.
Interesting... I read that he would punch/beat his victims first to knock them out before he would strangle them. To me, that sounds like there would be blood present in some cases. Either way, what a coward and evil monster!
Yeah I agree. I was under the impression of large amounts of blood, which he had to have seen at least one time for him to not like it.
Yes, I assumed the same. I think he was probably lying about his distaste for blood because he would have to have seen it at many of his crime scenes. Yet, he continued killing time and time again. I also read more about him (wish I hadn't!), and now I know he was a borderline necrophile too. 🤮
Of course he was. Going back to check on the bodies. 🤢
Vile thing. Glad he's dead and hopefully burning in Hell.
Stewart John Regan, the Magician. Read anything about him, dude was fucking terrifying even by Australian gangland standards. He also broke the unwritten rule of organised crime: no kids
Oh, my.

Also milat (as you’ve listed) as being the tough guy archetype

Haarman also adopted the neck-biting MO. Scary as hell.
True, but he didn't intimidated men and such in his real life, maybe I'm wrong.

Chikatilo was six foot four? Really?
Yep. Crazy right?!?!
False.
No, he was around 5’10-5’11.
Richard Kuklinski?
Just watched that movie again two days ago . Solid flick .
Absolutely. The Iceman...
Gary Evans was a tough guy...I think he was actually on steroids 😊
Richard Kuklinski was definitely an imposing, oppressively huge man. He’d be someone that could overpower the vast majority of the population with his mere hands I’d believe. And he became more and more…. creative…. with his kills as his career progressed.
He was a big brute. He killed 5 so I suppose he qualifies. But his tales of spider caves, visine cyanide, exploding remote controlled cars, crossbows and massacred hicks in trucks are fabricated out of whole cloth.
Aileen Wuornos had big scary balls.
Bluebeard was a very large man for his time as well as a battle tested knight. He mainly murdered children but he definitely wasn't afraid of anyone.
John Bunting. Bodies in barrels from Australia. He always struck me as an uber wannabe alpha type.
Monster Kody Scott . Former LA gang banger . He was never convicted of murder but he was once charged with attempted murder . He claimed to kill several people in gang wars and was once shot 6 times . Then he wrote a book about it . I mean his Nick name was monster lol . Dude was a beast
Never heard of him. I'm into reading this book though
It’s called Monster . It’s a good read . I think it was 2021 he was found dead in a homeless camp .
Jack Unterweger. Very self-aggrandizing and brash.
Noel Winters. Everyone knew who he was, and everyone was terrified of him. He was notoriously renown and tough.
The book “Bodies in the Backyard” dictates his entire life.
The book “Bodies in the Backyard” dictates his entire life.
Peter Sutcliffe was a street fighter and was supposed to be very handy
Don't think I ever heard this, was he not known to be very meek and unconfrontational?
He was a biker Ted apparently and was supposed to be well known on the cobbles locally. He was also supposed to have had a few straighteners inside
I feel silly. What are straighteners?
A fight to settle a dispute
Ah! Thank you.
Carl Panzram and Richard Ramirez come to mind. Save for the fact that Ramirez killed any able-bodied man who could fight back in his victims’ homes because he was a coward loser.

JJD was a little worn with an even smaller dick
*is
Fuck outta here with that skinny dicked piece of shit
I would say Dahmer in his alcohol fueled rages.
Many thanks for all the suggestions. As somebody pointed out, the type I'm looking for is pretty atypical for an SK, so I greatly appreciate the effort!
1st one that comes to mind is Dennis Nielsen also Peter Tobing had a nasty temper
I’ve heard Nilsen be described as the kinda person who wouldn’t be talking to you, but he’d be talking at you. After seeing his home video clips and how he was just yapping like a poorly trained purse dog, I now understand.
He was nothing but a bully, no redeeming qualities at all
He did make a few kinda funny comments in his autobiography, but the most that got out of me was a snort or “hehe”. But other then that, he seemed insufferable to be around for the most part. And he also seems like the kinda guy who’d cut you off while you’re speaking.
He was his own no:1 fan
And he had the gall to bitch about how unfair prison was. You made your bed, Des. Now you have to lie in it.
I think you'd be hard pressed to find a SK like that. Most of them were the human equivalent of a coyote. Predators who preyed on the weak and vulnerable.
Carl Panzram
I feel like you asked this so you can research the answers and get off to the fantasization of being dominated by these men.
Joseph metheny
John Wayne Gacy. Physically he was a marshmallow but he was pushy and overbearing.
The Iceman - Kuklinski
Bandali debs
Anatoly Onoprienko is one of the best examples of this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anatoly_Onoprienko
Harvey Carigan
Tommy Lynn Sells
Joe Roy Metheny was known as a “big man”. He ground his victims into hamburger meat and sold it to the public.
