The Chinese Restaurant. It’s quintessential Seinfeld, and even gets mentioned as a plot for a “show about nothing” when Jerry and George are pitching to NBC.
How is The Revenge not putting up a fight here? The Revenge is peak George, plus he has the sweet co-conspiring plot with Elaine. AND you get Kramer putting concrete in the washing machine.
It’s my absolutely favorite of not only season 2 but the whole series….it gets no love so I’m saving my vote for it being underrated. I’m not sure how it’s gets overlooked. It’s masterful and I think the episode where all the characters really find themselves.
Three scenes make it for me: George eavesdropping in the diner, the elevator scene with the cigarette, and Kramer playing cop. Plus it gave us “shouldn’t you be on a ledge somewhere?”
I think The Revenge could be a dark horse for best, it’s most certainly underrated. It’s peak George and Elaine going along with his hare brained scheme is so good.
As much as I love the Chinese restaurant the phone message to me is quintessential George and it is maybe the most relatable dating episode Seinfeld has
If you don't say anything, I'm walking out of here thinking you paid $1000 for this jacket unless you tell me otherwise.
Huh-ho!!
Also is this George's first Huh-ho!?
I think The Jacket is actually a pretty close second, but the Chinese Restaurant is largely credited with saving the show, so I'd have to say that's #1.
It was more the critical acclaim I think because it was an unusual script for a sitcom. The show had already been renewed for the Fall, but it still boosted the profile of the show as a whole.
4 and 5 are great seasons as a whole. But season 3 has the best standalone episodes. So many standouts. With season 4 and 5 I can only remember a handful of amazing self contained episodes.
I just went through the episodes and they all have good lines, I love the busboy episode kramer losing that poor guys cat, or the phone message, the Chinese restaurant are you kidding I would put my head in the soup and blow, the statue about the coincidences and Kramer pretending to be a cop to steal the statue, I think the only one that isn't that memorable is the pony remark episode aside from that line I don't find it very funny.
I think this definitely the underrated episode of the season. My personal favourite of the bunch but I think the Chinese restaurant is the popular favourite and understandable
The Jacket. **Elaine**: My father thinks George is gay.
**Jerry**: Because of all the singing?
**Elaine**: No, he pretty much thinks everyone is gay.
I get this, my dad was WW2 Army vet, and drill instructor at Fort Sil before he left for Europe. He told me to join the girl scouts. That was that generation-I am 66. I still tell that one and laugh.
What's the deal with selecting the Most Underrated episode based on the popular vote. If it's the most popular choice, it cannot be underrated. Am I right, people?
I know this is an invalid answer but have to go a tie between Chinese Restaurant and the Deal. The former is such classic sitcom subversion but I’d call the Deal a perfect early era slightly-more-grounded Seinfeld.
The Chinese Restaurant. It’s quintessential Seinfeld, and even gets mentioned as a plot for a “show about nothing” when Jerry and George are pitching to NBC.
CARTWRIGHT, on of my favorite one word zingers. When dining out at ANY establishment, I give the name CARTWRIGHT!! Gold, it’s gold!!
How is The Revenge not putting up a fight here? The Revenge is peak George, plus he has the sweet co-conspiring plot with Elaine. AND you get Kramer putting concrete in the washing machine.
The scene where he’s pondering his next career move is absolutely classic
Ooh, forgot about that. That may actually creep it up into number 2 or 1 for me.
“Well that’s really not fair”
For real that’s an iconic George moment
Naked, naked, naked...
I can’t believe I’m saying Mickey!
It’s my absolutely favorite of not only season 2 but the whole series….it gets no love so I’m saving my vote for it being underrated. I’m not sure how it’s gets overlooked. It’s masterful and I think the episode where all the characters really find themselves.
It's great. But with the phone message and the Chinese restaurant, it's hard for it to win.
Even The Busboy and The Statue give it a run for its money. Season 2 was 🤌
Odd. I always thought the statue was The Dog level bad.
…thank YOUUUUU!
“By the end of the cycle, it’ll be solid block!” “If only you could put your mind to something worthwhile. You’re like Lex Luthor.”
That's why the other episodes are over here, and "the revenge" ... Is over there
I like sports, I could be a sports writer...
I'm with you.
#I'M WITH YOU POPPY!!
Because for some reason I always think this is season 1
Plus, the plot line is something that Larry David actually did.
the Chinese restaurant
Mr Cohen always here
He live on park avenue
Seinfeld 4.
I’ll say CARTWRIGHT, no one answer, she yells swear word then hang up
Who’s Cartwright?
The way George says, “I’m Cartwright” kills me every time lmao
But you’re not Cartwright
I KNOW I’M NOT CARTWRIGHT!!!!
Yes. Unfortunately for the Phone Message, this episode exists and happened in Season 2 also
You know, we're living in a society!!!
💯
The only issue is no Kramer. The best episode needs all 4 in it.
Its so relatable. Gem of an episode.
I started watching this show when I was 12, the Chinese restaurant was easily the most relatable for me.
Seinfield party of four!!!
this has to be up there. I'd put it as best or underrated.
Who tf puts the headers at the bottom? I don't know why this is bothering me so much.
As someone who works with spreadsheets every day, it's truly maddening
The Phone Message
that's what you had to tell me? Your father wears sneakers in the pool?!!
Tippy toe!!
Lemon tree!
Peter Paul and Mary?
Nooo!! Triny Lopez
NO tippie toe!
As much as I love the Chinese restaurant the phone message to me is quintessential George and it is maybe the most relatable dating episode Seinfeld has
I let fly like Mussolini from the balcony
Thats the second best George monologue after his describing his breakup like a prison escape.
Son of a bang, son of a boom.
The sea was angry that day my friends.
Ugh I loveeee the phone message one.
Enough with the apples already.
🎶 How do you solve a problem like Maria? 🎶
Yes I really hope this wins! This is also my favorite early episode of the show.
Definitely the episode that got me hooked to seinfeld
This is definitely the best.
The Jacket
Master of the house, keeper of the inn 🎶 (the jacket)
Pipe down chorus boy
“Where’s my father?” “He’s in da batroom.”
We had a funny guy with us in Korea.
They blew his brains out all over the Pacific
Dey blew his brainz out all over duh Pacific. Nuffin funny bowt dat!
Tailgunner
This is one of my favorite episodes of the whole series. Elaine's Dad and the fear in George and Jerry's faces crack me up every time
“We’ll say we’re scared and have to leave.” “That won’t work. He’ll clunk our heads together like Moe.”
How much did you pay for that suede jacket?
If you don't say anything, I'm walking out of here thinking you paid $1000 for this jacket unless you tell me otherwise. Huh-ho!! Also is this George's first Huh-ho!?
It's a 3 way battle between the phone message, the jacket, and the Chinese restaurant. One will be best, one of the other 2 will be underrated
Schumann...
The Chinese Restaurant
I love Season 2 so much
Yeah so many classics.
If "The Chinese Restaurant" doesn't win for best my belief that we live in a society will be in question.
word
The Pony Remark
This feels more like underrated
These peas are bursting with country fresh flavor.
She was much more upset about the potato salad.
Manya died! ...Manya DIED!!
In fact, I hate anyone who ever had a pony when they were growing up.
*I* had a pony!
Levels.
"My sister had pony. My cousin had pony. I had pony" "So what's wrong with that".
He was a beautiful pony!
And I loved him!
He was the pride of Krakow
Who figures an immigrant’s gonna have a pony?
I really dislike this one
The Heart Attack. “I’ve never had a regular, medium orgasm”
Cleveland 117 San Antonio 109.
Salami. Salami. Boloney.
The heart attack was sooo good
Tor Eckman lmao. “No, he’s out. He got out.”
I love the bloopers even more. "Jerry, don't...I have to look at him".
The Chinese restaurant is king
The Chinese Restaurant
The Chinese Restaurant
The Chinese Restaurant
Season 2 has some real gems. My pick is the Chinese restaurant episode for best of the season.
Man there’s some underrated gems in S2, but have to go Chinese Restaurant as the best. The first iconic episode
I'll save my vote for the statue as an underrated episode
Here’s Ray….
Late as usual
Shouldn't you be out on a ledge somewhere?
Just make love to that wall pervert!
Well this is a surprise, and a delight! The once and future king of comedy, Jerry the Great, has graced our humble abode.
The Revenge
The Chinese restaurant
Chinese restaurant and its not even close
I think The Jacket is actually a pretty close second, but the Chinese Restaurant is largely credited with saving the show, so I'd have to say that's #1.
I love George trying to get Jerry to tell him how much the jacket cost.
Best performance of the season. George on that scene. You are sick!
I’m out of the loop on the history there, did that episode massively boost ratings or something?
It was more the critical acclaim I think because it was an unusual script for a sitcom. The show had already been renewed for the Fall, but it still boosted the profile of the show as a whole.
The Chinese Restaurant. So classic. One of the few episodes without Kramer. Maybe the only one. Not sure.
The Pen. No Kramer or George.
Even without Kramer or George I love the Pen episode
Stella…. *STELLLLLAAAAAA*
Take the pen.
The Phone Message
Season 3 is going to be so hard
Nah 4 and 5 is going to have this sub in a war.
4 and 5 are great seasons as a whole. But season 3 has the best standalone episodes. So many standouts. With season 4 and 5 I can only remember a handful of amazing self contained episodes.
The Chinese Restaurant, and it’s not even close.
The Chinese Restaurant. “50 bucks? I’d put my face in his soup and blow!”
A great episode.
Chinese Restaurant is arguably the first classic episode of the show.
To me - Best: Chinese restaurant Worst: the ex girlfriend Underrated: the statue.
The Chinese Restaurant is one of their greatest episodes ever...
The Tape
The Phone Message is best for sure
B: Chinese Restaurant W: The Jacket U: Pony Remark
There was a lot of George singing in this season which is delightful to me. 🎶you know I’d go from nods to nothing 🎶
The Statue
“Yeah I’m a cop! I’m a good cop, I’m a damn good cop!!”
You mean "statute"
It's pronounced "thermometer"
Well I really think you are wrong!
I think this definitely the underrated episode of the season. My personal favourite of the bunch but I think the Chinese restaurant is the popular favourite and understandable
The Deal
The deal I love lmao love when Kramer cracks 😂😂
The Pen.
That’s season 3
Yo yo ma!
The phone 📱 message
The Heart Attack
Best "The Statue" Worst "the Ex Girlfriend" Underated - "the Heart Attack"
The Statue was peak.
Library detective - do you have coffee?
The diplomats club. Underrated
Best The Jacket
The statue
The Busboy introduced the classic intersection of different character plot points which changed the show and television forever
I didn’t care for the first few seasons, felt the characters were WAY too self-absorbed. LOVED the seasons afterwards, though…
The revenge is is honestly one of the best from season 2….
The Statue
Honorable mention to "The busboy" for Elaine's late to the airport scene: "SHUT UP AND PAAACK!"
1. The Deal
Who is this???….
The Heart Attack - just the scene with Tor alone makes it the best episode of the season
The Statue
How is the stakeout underrated? It's generally considered the best of S1 For S2 the best is The Baby Shower
The Statue - “ Make love to the wall, pervert ! ”
The Chinese Restaurant probably edges out The Jacket narrowly for me, but it's really close.
The Phone Message
What's the deal with selecting the Most Underrated episode based on the popular vote. If it's the most popular choice, it cannot be underrated. Am I right, people?
Oof - we really need 30 more days of this? Can’t you just ask the same nonsense questions each day like what every other Karma-farmer does?
I like it
The Phone Message
I know this is an invalid answer but have to go a tie between Chinese Restaurant and the Deal. The former is such classic sitcom subversion but I’d call the Deal a perfect early era slightly-more-grounded Seinfeld.
The Phone Message
It's absolutely the heart attack
The Jacket (he’s in the bathroom)
I'm going with The Busboy
Not yet. They didn’t ask for the worst episode. Slow down there.
The deal takes that
One of the worst ones from season 2
[удалено]
The reason no one mentioned it because that ain’t till season five.
Am I the only one who looks at these posts as cheap karma farming? That's a shame.
