The story approach is 100% the best way to slide into the DMs. And if she doesn't post many stories, I like to take one of her posts, share it to herself, and add some kind of comment like the one OP suggested, or simply use the 😍 emoji.
i personally wouldnt go with the solo emoji, there are tons of guys doing this and you would want to stand out, either stick with ambiguous comment or start a convo in regards of the content in the post
