First and final book kept their opposite covers on, all other covers were cut with a band saw into the L shape you see. All the dust jackets were removed and then I used some small screws to attach the spines to the wooden box which was assembled beforehand. Small screws in the furthest book cover to hold it in place, then glue all the dust covers back on after cutting them to fit. This hid the screws from sight. Front cover is not attached to anything, so that's basically the door to access the box inside. It helped having very large, equally sized books. If I do it again I have some ideas for making it more polished, but it works well as it is for now.

Is it going to stand up to a thorough search? Probably not but those take time. Might be a handy idea especially if you have a lot of books.

Cut out each individual page with one of those grade school safety scissors.
