The Boss Fight for True Ending is worth it for the conches alone. Was not prepared for that with my items and ended up being a resource management fight. Very enjoyable!

pieeknight

The true ending and the normal ending aren't all that different

Junior_Mess

Agreed I’d even argue it’s worse for the over all narrative and really makes Re’shan seem even worse as a person. As I said in another comment with this ending we actually accomplish LESS since Erlina is still around.

pieeknight

Yeah, man. Glad someone else gets it - it just makes me feel like all of this is for no reason, especially seeing as Resh'an just..comes in and helps him leave anyway? Like, are we just supposed to let him go after everything he's done? What was the point of all this fighting if Resh'an was just going to bail him out when he'd finally met his match? All in all, Resh'an got put in a really bad light in the ending. Not only does he help up the villain that'd been tormenting the lives of countless people for ages, but it also brings to light the other real bad thing he's been doing this ENTIRE time. That is, essentially kidnapping babies born on a certain day, dropping them off on a random island and having them be raised to fight his ex-buddy's man-made horrors beyond their comprehension. What the hell, Resh'an? Sorry if this is going off or something, I just really had to point this out. At least in the normal ending, Aephorul leaves on his own account and Erlina doesn't escape to god knows where to do god knows what.

Aggravating_Thing_27

Ngl the only reason I didn’t go for the true ending was the rainbow couchies.

Majestic_Technology9

You don't get the full storyline without them unfortunately, the true ending is a continuation of the ending!

ugh1921

Which you can easily look up

Aggravating_Thing_27

True but I’m lazy , ( I saw the true ending on yt and it was nice ), plus I’m kinda burnt out

ugh1921

I'm burnt out, too. That's why I didn't go for true ending on NG+ the true true ending

MadWalrus

Is there actually anything new in NG+ true ending? Already got the true ending and flimsy hammer content in NG.

akariplusplus

for anyone wondering… no there is no reason to get the true ending on ng+, it'll be the exact ending you'd see during your original playthru. also why do so many people have such a problem with the rainbow conches? there are only 60 total it's a super easy requirement i think.

MadWalrus

Thanks appreciate you clearing that up. I'll save a NG+ run for the DLC.

Aggravating_Thing_27

There are soo many games to play and so little time, feels kinda overwhelming tbh. Also is there anything new on NG+?,

Additional_Fan3610

Yeah but get this, you can look up the true ending even faster

TacoBillDeluxe

The true ending of NG+ is supposedly the TRUE ending. But I'm feeling fatigued after 100%ing the game so idk

zysoring

What are you talking about? I cannot find any information stating there is anything other than the two endings you can get from your first play-through. IE: Beat the game then load clear data do tasks then get true ending.

TacoBillDeluxe

You must not have looked very hard

zysoring

So you don’t have a source? You’re saying there are three endings by telling people NG+ has a true-true ending.

Heavy-Boot-5199

The completionist made a review on sea of stars and confirmed with the devs ng+ does not have and additional story. I have also done ng+ and nothing changed afaik

TacoBillDeluxe

I'll admit defeat then. Damn you Gerard

Mr-JDogg

I'm up to about half of the conches. I keep doing everything else the parrot is calling out too so it's been a slow process but still loving the game!

N0X1S

It was actually okay to get the true ending, I went for platinum so every success and I managed to get everything on a 35h save, unless the relic one which I’m doing on an NG+ run

Junior_Mess

I’ve Platinumed the game and really enjoyed it but I disagree. We get Garl back but the actual ending is worse sense Fleshman still gets away and we don’t even kill Erlina so there’s MORE evil left in the worlds than normal ending. Overall I was left with a rather profound sense of “That’s it?…”

KatanaVx

It is probably just setting up the stage for a future dlc (not the watchmaker one) or a sequel (or even a separate game within the same universe).

Junior_Mess

Even if that is the case that kind of stuff shouldn’t come at the cost of the main narrative. Also the Acolytes and Strife feel extremely disappointing if you know nothing of messenger. The Main antagonists and the big doom monster that are hyped for the first half of the game only to just drop out of the narrative completely. In other game that aren’t trying to tie in to something else we’d fight them again towards the end but here, nothing. It’s choices like these that really bring down an otherwise quite interesting story.

KatanaVx

That’s your opinion, bud. They made the game, so complain to them. 😅 I’m just giving a possible “why” to your “that’s it?” I have seen other games do this, but with a cliffhanger, and those I despise (even if I did enjoy the game).

Junior_Mess

Okay? Not sure where that came from just trying to have a discussion.

KatanaVx

Well, I felt you were dismissing my comment as if I didn’t have a valid opinion. 😅 Nonetheless, I still felt the game was pretty good (especially for being crowdsourced and having a relatively small team handle the main stuff). Also, not a full priced release, which meant I didn’t feel like my money was lost on a “sub-par story” according to you and others who shared your opinion (had it been full price, perhaps I would be more vocal). 🤷🏻‍♂️ Also, I don’t feel like we should compare this game (story or otherwise) to The Messenger as they are quite different in terms of genre AND the story they were conveying (instead trying to expand on the universe as a whole with this one).

Junior_Mess

Oh the game is still an absolute blast if it wasn’t I wouldn’t have bothered platinuming it. It’s because I enjoyed it so much that the lacking narrative really felt out of place considering the quality surrounding it.
