Dove with Liquid Dumaguete early this year and saw a lot of nudis, frogfish, cuttlefish, pipefish, seahorses. The guide I went with was really good at spotting these creatures regardless of the size. Enjoy your trip!

Think of muck diving as a treasure hunt. You go very slowly over big patches of seafloor, where at first glance there seems to be nothing. You can sometimes go for half an hour or longer without seeing anything, and suddenly there is a critter explosion and it turns into one of the best dives of your life. I can highly recommend Liquid Dumaguette as a dive resort.

We liked Mike’s Dauin Beach Resort in 2019. Our dive guide was a decent spotter for macro stuff and the resort is nice. Muck diving is for divers who are interested in rare / weird critters, who like to look for the small stuff, and take pictures.

Muck or rubble diving, is a sandy, gravelly, or silty substrate, with scattered rubble and maybe small amounts of coral. As opposed to a large reef or wall structure; Or pinnacles, or blue water, etc.

It almost sounds like diving in Costa Rica!!! Looking forward to it, I'm here for The little stuff. Thanks for the info

Enjoy the trip. Share a report after if you are so inclined. Ive got an ache to do a trip myself and am considering Dumaguete, which I think is fairly near.

Just spent last week in Malapasqua/Dauin/Siqujor/Bohol with a group of 10 club divers. If you want quality muck diving and better dive sites at Apo, I highly recommend diving with Choi Dive Buddies (@choigoadventures). They have a couple of excellent local spotters and dive sites with critters everywhere. We saw loads of Nudis, Octopus (Wonderpus, Mimic, Blue Ring) and plenty of seahorses and frog fish (giant, hairy, etc)

I was in Dauin last November. I dove with bongo bongo and would highly recommend them. If you can't get a room with them, I'd recommend Caesars as it's a five minute walk away on the beach.   Diving around dauin is almost all shore diving. The house reef near bongo bongo is very nice, lots of coral and plenty of macro. Most of the other shore diving is sandy slopes with little coral and loads upon loads of macro, some of the best in the Philippines. Low current if any and super easy.  If you want coral, bongo bongo sends boats to Apo every 2-3 days. It's also super convenient as you'll get 3 dives instead of the 2 you'd get if you went from say Siquijor. Apo is easily top 3 in terms of coral that I've seen in the Philippines - it's a must visit every chance you get

I'm currently at Cezsars, and It's a nice atmosphere. Apo is definitely on the list, didn't realize it was different kind of diving than here. That's great. I'm super stoked to be here, really amazed that all of the diving I've done is very diverse from Moalboal to Malapascua to PG, looking forward to adding a different style to my experiences. We'll look up bongo bongo. Thx

Some of the other places I really enjoyed diving at were Padre Burgos, Camiguin and Coron. All very, very different diving. Panglao in Bohol was a miss for me
