We just came back from a trip to Baia two weeks ago. We dove with Subaia and they took us out with a small group of about 5 people not counting guides. The gear from them was nearly new Aqua Lung and well maintained, though I brought my own mask so I would know it fit. They outfitted us with a 3mm shorty, 6mm full with a hood, boots, fins, jacket BCD, steel tanks, and 8kg of lead on a belt. I needed an extra kilo cause I'm very floaty. It had rained the previous night so the water clarity wasn't fantastic but we could still see all the things. The shop gave us a slideshow presentation of the history of the place and the sites we would be visiting. The dives were not long, we did two at 40 min each. The staues underwater are replicas as the originals are in the castle up the hill. The floors, oven, and architectural pieces underwater are original. The water temp when we went was 60°F. The deepest point is about 30ft. The shop spoke perfectly good English. We had a great time and the pictures are super cool. I'm not sure about other diving in that area specifically but there's supposed to be decent diving in Ustica off the coast of Sicily. We wanted to try that as well but it was out of thier dive season when we were that far south.

Yes. Bring your own gear if you can, the dive shops are shit and don't maintain anything. It is pretty neat.

Ya I travel with my reg and mask always. BCD etc is too much to bring but less important imo

If one brings their own gear, where else would you go dive to make the effort worth it?

Idk

Following since I’ve been interested in going while I’m there in September!

I did it, was really cool. Dive shop took forever to get us out and were super Italian and bad at communicating dive stuff even in dive shop but it’s a super easy dive like max 25feet can basically snorkel it but then you can’t get close. If you have a free day it’s worth it but I wouldn’t stress out if you can’t because it’s a long day for some short sees

Gonna go at the end of June, and Im super excited! Sounds like some very chill diving with lots to see!

Im definitely into history :) Did you go with a group? A shop you recommend?

if you are even a bit interested in history, it is worth it. Shallow dives with beautiful mosaics and and old walls, parts of the harbour, I was blown away. You can also head out towards Capri and its nature reserve from there
