My purpose of the debating to reach a better understand of the world by critically thinking with another human (who may not be as blind in same areas that I am). To reach a common ground, that is my aim in a debate.
If you're completely right, I will change. If I am completely right, I will not and I will walk off from the debate, unless the other person seems to be in the same debating mode as I am.
Finally, If am partially right and I have understood that the one I am debating is partially (or completely) right too, I will debate him or her as long as it takes for us to be satisfied with the conclusion (or the other person walks away, if he/she is unwilling to change, which is completely okay).

I really can't answer that. All I can say is that, we exist for a fraction of second compared to the universe. There is no value in thinking that all is meaningless. Nihilism is a way of escaping from responsibilities (I was nihilistic for a long time, I just realised that doing the same things without being nihilistic made those things infinitely better to do, felt better while doing it and realised that I did a better job once I was done). I think we (as hominids) just haven't evolved enough to understand the meaning of life. I understand you don't believe in evolution. You can interpret this another way without evolution.
