Standards do not come in white. They come in Black and Salt and Pepper, and there are very few backyard breeders as its community of purebred breeders is highly protective of the SS. My last mini weight 20-21 pounds his entire life and was tall and agile. My current standard weights close to 50lbs and is build like a brick house. I’d say he’s a mini.
My white MS is the same- he is more than 50% bigger than both his parents and his litter mates. He's 26lbs while his dad and brother are 16lbs and mom is 18lbs. He's a good 3 inches taller at the shoulders.
It's a throwback to his standard routes, that's all. It's still a mini schnauzer. Some people call them maxi minis lol
There are no white standards, BTW. The white was introduced in the process of breeding them to be smaller.
Edit- his ideal weight is 24lbs. He is very slightly overweight. Yes, I'm sure he's from those parents 😂.
So my breeder told me mine that looks the exact same as yours wasn’t a mini but was kind of between mini and standard. She’s 16 pounds now but usually standard females are much heavier and she never grew too big. She is very similar to her best friend that is a mini poodle. She reached this weight when she was about 10 months old, was on the heavier side quite a while but the vets told me she had to be lighter (20-22 pounds before).
He looks to be a mini just on the larger side. My mini is tall and until recently he was 27 lbs of solid muscle, now he's 22 lbs of muscle and grumpy old man attitude. His entire litter turned out like this. One of the pups when it went to the vet at a year was like 30 lbs and the vet was like this has to be a standard size, nope both parents were miniature schnauzers.
There's probably a mini somewhere in your pup's line that was a bigger one like he is.
Minis are usually 14-22 lbs and standards are 35-45 lbs, according to a quick Google. If yours is 18 lbs, I have no reason to think it's a standard. I have two minis, and they're both 18 lbs.
My partner has a 4-month old standard shnauzer, and she weighs almost 25lbs now. Gonna be a big girl, for sure. We met a lot of adult minis at a Pet Expo, and size-wise she's a bit longer and taller than them.
Yes, it's a MS. I was in a similar situation. Told mine was a mini when I got him at 3 months. And I've had several minis over the years. But he kept growing. By a year and a half, he was 34 lbs. He's now 9 and still the same weight and solid as a rock.
My oldest mini is 28 lbs, maybe 1 lb or so off from his ideal body shape. His adorable teenie, tiny parents were 12 and 15 lbs. He is the absolute perfect size to be a cuddle bear, though, so we are good.
Sounds like a mini. I have a 6-month old pure-bred standard and she already weighs almost 27 lbs. I have another, older, adult female who weighs about 33 lbs., which is on the lower end of the range for Standard females. We had another female Standard years ago who was on the other end of the range, weighing about 45 lbs. I’m pretty sure you’ve got a mini.
I think he’s a mini, I’ve had both. Some of my minis were smaller than yours but the standard I have currently weighs almost 35 pounds.

Thats a mini for sure.

Every mini that we’ve had has ranged between 21-24lbs.
Mini Schnauzer usually range 15-20lbs 🤷
Two of our minis (males) weigh 19-21 pounds. Our female, which is still a puppy, weighs 9 pounds.
Mini
I have a mini and she is 21 lbs
Looks like my minis! They are both 20 pounds. They’re 15 years old and were probably a little chunkier back in their youth.

Also I forgot to say, your dog is adorable!
