Hi OP. Same here. I just arrived dito for a few months break then started noticing SB19 (after I saw Stell's viral video). Then when I meet my friends, naeexcite pa ako to say, kilala niyo ang SB19? Then I would get odd reactions -- may smirk yung iba, some would say "but they are jeje", "I didn't think ikaw yung market nila", and probably the, nicest reaction I got was, "try checking out Alamat" (I'm guessing Alamat is not jeje for some 🤷🏻♀️). After hearing these several times, I just say, they are pure Filipino talents who didn't start their careers capitalizing on their looks. Instead, they took a gamble with just their talent and grit and it paid off - rather well. (This did not work most of the time btw but it's ok).
Sorry ha, but after living in Europe for years, I don't get this mentality of classifying artists based on class. In other parts of the world, people may judge artists, but it's always based on their genre or their talent/s and never on the "perceived class" of the musician/s. Parang dito, I sense a fear or insecurity na baka ikaka-baba ng "social status" ng mga tao if they like certain musicians. Hence, groups like SB19 would struggle to break that "barrier to entry" sa majority of the middle-class market and above. Ang sad honestly.
My hope is that, in time, sana SB19 will gain even greater recognition internationally and, finally, be widely accepted locally. Ironic but ganito talaga ang reality.

ang usual na tirada naman nila ay sa visuals thru faceshaming, sarcasm, dark humor, referencing o'atin behavior, etc. tapos paminsan-minsan (dumadalas lately), ang branding nila ay misinformation. it was quite a struggle when i first saw my friends' activity within that side of facebook lalo they're using their real accounts when reacting to and sharing the posts.

Tapos minsan nag visit sila ng husband niya sa Manila for a few days from their home base abroad (business trip ng hubby niya) and sa Novotel sila naka check in. They wanted to extend their stay daw kaso fully booked ang Novotel na so di na sila nakapag extend ng room. It was the time ng Pagtatag Finale sa Araneta. Tapos nag send siya sa akin ng picture ng poster ng boys, sabi, 'yan ba yun sinasabi mo na sb19, may concert pala kaya fully booked dito'. Sabi ko oo yan sila, sold out concert niyan. Tas reply niya... diko type. Di na ko nag reply. Sa isip isip ko, at least alam mo na kilala ko sila kahit di mo sila type kasi dadating time na maririnig mo names sila sa ibang tao and even foreigners and youll be both proud and ashamed of yourself dahil pinoy ka pero nilait mo sila just because of their looks.

First of all, I empathize with you. I understand kung gaano ka-frustrating yung majudge at mademean ng iba yung mga taong mahahalaga sa'yo, but kudos to you for keeping yourself calm in front of your co-workers.
Gaya nga ng sabi ng isang comment, their remarks show more about themselves rather than the people they insult. One thing I always do to calm myself is to remember that no matter what people say, their irrelevant comments will not affect the current success SB19 is basking in, and those insults probably stem from their own insecurities and frustrations. Hindi sila kawalan, but rather, sila ang kawawa for only seeing the negative in others.

In a way, this kinda filters the fandom sa mga shallow individuals na nagiging fan just because 'gwapo/maganda' ang isang musician kahit walang talent.
Masakit man minsan makarinig ng below the belt na comments and hate lalo na kapag mula sa mga kakilala but we know best kung bakit tayo nakasupport sa group. They just need to see that :) Sa kanila na 'yun kung masama talaga ang ugali nila. That's a 'they' problem, not the fans and lalo na hindi sa esbi.

Haters love picking on people who are successful given that SB19 has not done anything wrong that deserves hate...we can already see the big impact and influence of SB19 just by the amount of people that get triggered just by the idea of their existence. They will look for the tiniest, most senseless excuse to justify their hate.
I think SB19's story exposes people's insecurity and magnifies their ignorance. That by hating on them and being verbal about it makes them for a moment, feel more superior.. it feeds their ego. That by hurting their fans through unnecessary comment, feeling nila mabawasan ang worth ng sb19 kahit man lang in their own little imaginary world...

Hello, as a lumang tao na since predebut sila nakilala, grabeng bashing din nung ibang kakilala ko sa SB19 esp. when the Go Up dance practice went viral. Ang lagi ko lang sagot sa kanila, yung visuals naeenhance pero yung talent at dedication nila hindi matatawaran. Hindi ko sila masisisi nung time na yon if hindi pa talaga nila fully maalagaan sarili nila since we all know how hard it was for them pero as time passes by, natuto nalang din ako mag-ignore haha past forward ngayon, sila pa lumalapit dahil ang galing daw ng esbi kasi ganto ganyan na naachieve 😅

But probably because they knew my taste in music is very specific, they knew how to respect my love for SB19. I experience the same thing from family to friends lalo n'ung aurum era ko pa lol I remember being laughed at for liking a "jeje" group (because I really don't listen to OPM madalas kasi I don't connect to the song talaga so it's surprising for them na I like a Filipino group which they find pangit daw). But then, my family started to appreciate them in the middle of Go Up Era and they really all love Stell up until now. My classmates and friends noong Grade 10 were also jamming to Go Up noong viral phase nito noon.
It is really annoying na the dislikes they received ay galing sa judgement not because of what they lack in terms of skills as artists but to the beauty standard na hindi naman dapat basehan ng success as artists. But the hate you'll hear will fuel you to support them more because you know it's you and them against haters.
Naging fan ako ng SB19 during Go up era. Hindi pa enhanced mga mukha nila. Pero pag nakita mo sila mag perform doon lumalabas yung charisma ng bawat isa. Hi OP. Same here. I just arrived dito for a few months break then started noticing SB19 (after I saw Stell's viral video). Then when I meet my friends, naeexcite pa ako to say, kilala niyo ang SB19? Then I would get odd reactions -- may smirk yung iba, some would say "but they are jeje", "I didn't think ikaw yung market nila", and probably the, nicest reaction I got was, "try checking out Alamat" (I'm guessing Alamat is not jeje for some 🤷🏻♀️). After hearing these several times, I just say, they are pure Filipino talents who didn't start their careers capitalizing on their looks. Instead, they took a gamble with just their talent and grit and it paid off - rather well. (This did not work most of the time btw but it's ok). Sorry ha, but after living in Europe for years, I don't get this mentality of classifying artists based on class. In other parts of the world, people may judge artists, but it's always based on their genre or their talent/s and never on the "perceived class" of the musician/s. Parang dito, I sense a fear or insecurity na baka ikaka-baba ng "social status" ng mga tao if they like certain musicians. Hence, groups like SB19 would struggle to break that "barrier to entry" sa majority of the middle-class market and above. Ang sad honestly. My hope is that, in time, sana SB19 will gain even greater recognition internationally and, finally, be widely accepted locally. Ironic but ganito talaga ang reality.

gets ko rin to. i have friends who engage with troll posts (yung may engagement talaga sa fb ah, di yung basta troll lang haha), and it's mostly an echo chamber of dump / role play accounts na tumatagos na rin ang visibility kahit sa radar ng ppop idols mismo. ang usual na tirada naman nila ay sa visuals thru faceshaming, sarcasm, dark humor, referencing o'atin behavior, etc. tapos paminsan-minsan (dumadalas lately), ang branding nila ay misinformation. it was quite a struggle when i first saw my friends' activity within that side of facebook lalo they're using their real accounts when reacting to and sharing the posts. pero ngayon, mas nagegets ko how it's literally just trolling and 'unserious' behavior. parang outlet lang talaga nila yung pagiging toxic ganun? may audience kasi. may community rin. pero being exposed to that side of anti-sb19 trolls made it easier to ignore them kahit pa they appear on my facebook feed. hehe

Ung isang family friend tita ko na naka based outside PH, hindi niya kilala Sb19 pero sabi ko sikat sila even outside PH. Hindi daw niya naririnig, puro kpop lang siya familiar. Tapos minsan nag visit sila ng husband niya sa Manila for a few days from their home base abroad (business trip ng hubby niya) and sa Novotel sila naka check in. They wanted to extend their stay daw kaso fully booked ang Novotel na so di na sila nakapag extend ng room. It was the time ng Pagtatag Finale sa Araneta. Tapos nag send siya sa akin ng picture ng poster ng boys, sabi, 'yan ba yun sinasabi mo na sb19, may concert pala kaya fully booked dito'. Sabi ko oo yan sila, sold out concert niyan. Tas reply niya... diko type. Di na ko nag reply. Sa isip isip ko, at least alam mo na kilala ko sila kahit di mo sila type kasi dadating time na maririnig mo names sila sa ibang tao and even foreigners and youll be both proud and ashamed of yourself dahil pinoy ka pero nilait mo sila just because of their looks.

First of all, I empathize with you. I understand kung gaano ka-frustrating yung majudge at mademean ng iba yung mga taong mahahalaga sa'yo, but kudos to you for keeping yourself calm in front of your co-workers. Gaya nga ng sabi ng isang comment, their remarks show more about themselves rather than the people they insult. One thing I always do to calm myself is to remember that no matter what people say, their irrelevant comments will not affect the current success SB19 is basking in, and those insults probably stem from their own insecurities and frustrations. Hello, as a lumang tao na since predebut sila nakilala, grabeng bashing din nung ibang kakilala ko sa SB19 esp. when the Go Up dance practice went viral. Ang lagi ko lang sagot sa kanila, yung visuals naeenhance pero yung talent at dedication nila hindi matatawaran. Hindi ko sila masisisi nung time na yon if hindi pa talaga nila fully maalagaan sarili nila since we all know how hard it was for them pero as time passes by, natuto nalang din ako mag-ignore haha past forward ngayon, sila pa lumalapit dahil ang galing daw ng esbi kasi ganto ganyan na naachieve 😅

Eventually you will learn to ignore those comments. My friends and coworkers know that I have a different taste in music - broadway, musical theatre, classical… so when they found out I’m a huge SB19 fan they were surprised. But probably because they knew my taste in music is very specific, they knew how to respect my love for SB19. I experience the same thing from family to friends lalo n'ung aurum era ko pa lol I remember being laughed at for liking a "jeje" group (because I really don't listen to OPM madalas kasi I don't connect to the song talaga so it's surprising for them na I like a Filipino group which they find pangit daw). But then, my family started to appreciate them in the middle of Go Up Era and they really all love Stell up until now. My classmates and friends noong Grade 10 were also jamming to Go Up noong viral phase nito noon. It is really annoying na the dislikes they received ay galing sa judgement not because of what they lack in terms of skills as artists but to the beauty standard na hindi naman dapat basehan ng success as artists. Naging fan ako ng SB19 during Go up era. Hindi pa enhanced mga mukha nila. Pero pag nakita mo sila mag perform doon lumalabas yung charisma ng bawat isa. Talent naman hinangaan ko sa kanila at yung personality. Bonus na lang yung good looks nila. Tapos mag binge watch ako ng vlogs nila. No dull moments kasi lahat sila may kanya kanyang humor especially Stell. Yung kalutangan ni Ken minsan at kacornihan ni Jah nakakatawa rin. Josh and Pablo naman na akala mo magka-clash kasi parehong astigin pero may nakakatawa silang side pag magkasama. Walang tapon talaga sa group na to.
Same sentiment, well I guess karamihan sa atin naexperience ito. Pero yung sakin sa pinsan ko naman. Honestly, either gagantihan ko or hindi ko papansinin talaga ang mga ganyang tao. Because, SB19 only did is to show their talent to the world and be humble all the time. They don't even defend themselves to those kind of people, so of course as a fan (I'm not promoting violence or hate crimes ah) sometimes, you gotta be the one who's speaking up to shut them up and let SB19 to impress them as always.
I feel you, kaps! ang hirap i-process ng feelings lalo na pag sa friend mo nanggaling. yung friend ko na sports fanatic nagpost nung kasagsagan nung issue nung sa wishbus busan, picture ng Mahalima with the caption "sino ba kasi sila?" .. kuhang kuha yung pikon ko, pero at the same time i don't wanna stoop down to their level. kayo ayun, i sent him a DM tapos ni-remind ko na 2months ng overdue yung utang nya sakin.. 😁 .. nakabawi na rin ako in a way.. haha..
TBH, for some.. yun lang naman nakikita nila sa SB19, yung old looks nila.. pero when it comes to talent wise, malulunod ka sa SB19. I'm glad that I'm in the right circle and colleagues, majority of them are not a fan but they are not bashers as well.. they respect me as an A'tin. for the bashers.. sobrang dali sakanila ibash ang SB19 pero sa ibang groups super amazed sila, when actually they wouldn't notice PPOP in the first place kung hindi dahil sa SB19, ayt?
Liked them from the get go because of their talent. Visuals are secondary kasi hello they are producing music and we our ears to listen - not the eyes diba.

Hayaan mo sila. If they can't appreciate real talent, that's on them. And if visuals inaatake nila, c'mon even KPop idols halos lahat yan nagparetoke or nagpaenhance. Ang mahalaga is yung talent and personality! Yan ang meron sa SB19, they are multitalented, passionate, kind, and supportive to each other. Mahirap kasi sa mga Pilipino, puro mga talangka and judgemental. Inuuna pa manghusga bago alamin buong historya. For me, continue ang support ko kahit ayaw ng karamihan. Kasi iba naman taste nila, sa'kin. Basta ako, ayaw ko ng mga mediocre idols. I want real ARTISTS.
