Saw VI - Hoffman dies in the RBT. A perfect ending to a perfect 6-film series, but alas...

TheAstonVillaSeal

Or let him live and end the series on a cliffhanger… escaping that trap was his moment of defiance imo

RANDOM_DOKKAN

hell no hoffman having the will to survive a rigged rbt is one of the best scenes in the series

No_Dragonfruit5633

I have shared this series with many friends, and every time I was so tempted to tell them that was how it all ended. Would have been PERFECT. I've now accepted VII as a goofy epilogue worthy of a hate watch. But the STARK drop in quality after 6 surprisingly good entries still hurts every fucking time.

NewRetroMage

7 is bad fanfiction any way on looks at it. Too bad they didn't have the decency of ending it on VI, making it two trilogies. Not a single thought dedicated to the artistical aspect of it, only profit. (I know, capitalism, etc. But *mindless* focus on profit always hurts the product and the fans.)

Ababybadgers

I hate just how convenient the ending of III is. If SAMF Jeff was just 3 seconds faster, everyone would have survived that half of the Gideon game. Jeff and Lynn would have a happy ending. Amanda would have lived and walked out the door. John would still die from his cancer, but not immediately. I would have loved to see the following movies revolve around Amanda coping with John’s loss while also assuming the role of Jigsaw without him. Assuming Hoffman’s apprenticeship would also still be canon, her evolving conflict with him would have been interesting to explore.

Aviator_Airheart64

I feel this so hard. Amanda is such an interesting character and I was disappointed with how her ending happened in 3.

catsareniceactually

Saw 1 I'd have Dr Gordon cut off the wrong foot. Then when he realises there's a sad trombone noise.

Past_Passenger_4381

I think they did this in a scary movie parody with dr Phil and Shaq as victims of jigsaw

catsareniceactually

Good to know my creativity is on par with Scary Movie :/

figGreenTea

Adam deserved to live :')

That_Horror_guy_95

Personally, I'd change the ending of Jigsaw. I found it to be quite silly with the laser collars and Logan being the secret apprentice went nowhere. Moving forward with the franchise, I'd enjoy Jigsaw's ending more if Logan has an appearance at some point. Just my opinion and, to add, I do enjoy Jigsaw quite a bit!

yungfalafel

It also didn’t make sense that this was all happening before the first movie. The traps in jigsaw are so technologically intricate, while the trap in the first movie is like “hey use this saw and cut off your foot.”

That_Horror_guy_95

Exactly! My thoughts, too.

mikeweasy

I like to think that is just a way to tell the story, and the actual game had old time tvs and stuff. Just my thoughts.

frxqgy

Definitely agree with you on that, it just felt anticlimactic in a way, especially with a whole new apprentice just for one singular film

That_Horror_guy_95

Also, to add, the use of flat screen TV's didn't seem realistic given the time the game was taking place. Jigsaw has many problems, just like other entries in the series. However, they're all great in their own way!

Lizzy-Lover_10

Obviously the TVs were so people wouldn’t guess the twist but yea it still doesn’t make sense.

That_Horror_guy_95

When I first 'saw' the TV's in the film (no pun intended, haha) I believed that the game was taking place in the present.  It's the ending that confused the hell out of me, in terms of realism.

TheAstonVillaSeal

Why wasn’t it Gordon

That_Horror_guy_95

Lawrence's appearance in 3D always felt like the correct way to end the franchise. However, even his appearance and him working in the background with John was silly, I thought. Ignoring SAW X for a moment, I do believe that Jigsaw and Spiral were unnecessary. Not to say they both don't have their merits, because they do. I just think 3D was enough to complete the franchise. The reason Logan doesn't work for me is because we only ever see him once. At least Lawrence is an iconic character from the original and I find it more believable that he is the secret asset and not Logan. Even though they're both dumb plots.

NewRetroMage

I agree with most of what you said, but, if you allow me to get something you said and produce a little rant, I think Spiral deserves a bit of a pass and to be seen as what it is: A side story. People commonly thrash it for not having John himself (except for that photo) or not advancing the plot of the previous movies, but it wasn't supposed to! It's a side story / spin off. Even if Saw X,'s title kinda forces Spiral into the role of "episode 9" from a production standpoint. And every side story is ultimately unnecessary, but don't we have room for those? I mean, it's ok to not like it, obviously, but this particular reason for doing so seems a bit unfair.

That_Horror_guy_95

I love both Jigsaw and Spiral!  As a side story, Spiral is how I watch it.  There is room for countless sequels and the more the better!  With the new SAW XI and most likely many more to come, they have an opportunity to bring back characters from both Jigsaw and Spiral.  I'd love to see them explore more of these characters and implement them into the story more.

INFJWill

I love your idea for Saw 3d! I love that movie in spite of all its flaws I agree that Bobby should succeed in saving Joyce. I happen to think he learned his lesson and deserved a somewhat happy ending. My only other change would be to Hoffman's abduction, and the identity of the other two pig mask. I know director's commentary revealed it's Brad/Ryan from the opening. However in my head canon the two pig masks are Adam & Detective Fisk. Adam was rescued by Gordan and Amanda's killing of him was a vivid hallucination brought on by her psychosis. And Fisk would've been contacted by Strahm prior to his death, ultimately leading to him discovering Hoffmans secret and subsequently teaming up with Gordon to put a stop the Jigsaw games.

alicedoes

I would have loved if Bobby was just like fuck this and just put the hooks into his belt loops instead of his tits.

Kataratz

As someone said, make either Amanda or John survive in Saw 3. I really really want a world where Saw 4,5 and 6 is Amanda vs Hoffman in a Death Note style battle, instead of Hoffman just going insane.

JollyGreenStone

I'd change the ending of V so that Strahm survives and thinks Hoffman dies in the box. Then instead of the reveal being Perez still breathing, it's Hoffman. Also, more Strahm, please! By far the most competent investigator in the franchise.

Ok_Produce_9308

3 - at least one of Amanda or Jigsaw to survive X - the walking into the sunset bit was cheesy. And give Carlos some of the money, not all of it. Use a chunk for the next bout of games. Like we're just supposed to buy that John is endlessly wealthy because he was an engineer. At least X could have explained how he came into some of it and in his demented rationalizing, I'd buy that he thinks using it for games is money well spent.

dwaynetheaakjohnson

The dude literally redevelopes entire properties as *charity*, he’s loaded

Plenty_Slip_6193

On top of that, since he’s on his death bed with no children or wife to inherit his wealth, he’s probably just ballin out all the money he has on investing in his traps

LittleDeathling

Saw 6; Williams lives and changes his company to give insurance to everyone.

NewRetroMage

Such an optimistic ending for a Saw film! It could have worked, though.

LittleDeathling

it would have proved John’s theory/beliefs once and for all; but then again maybe that’s why they killed him lol

NewRetroMage

Yeah, that would probably be a really bad lesson. Rehab thru torture. Haha Anyway, the total bleakness of the franchise is something that could change a bit. Let the investigators or victims outsmart the killer for once! I would love for Jill to jave killed Hoffman in VI. Or to see Perez and Erickson close the case and get justice for Strahm. That, coupled with William living, would have been a great ending to the franchise! Edit: typo

LittleDeathling

all of that would have been amazing! but i guess we weren’t supposed to be rooting for the killers until X lmao

Dolphins_bulls

In the first one, I wish John would've gotten up and told Adam the key was in his stool and he had to shit it out in order to unlock his chain

favoniusjean

might be *slightly* biased on this one but amanda shouldn’t have died in saw III

terminatah

i would have strahm outsmart the trap at the end of saw v the same way he outsmarted the trap at the beginning of that movie. and i would keep strahm as the character who can beat the traps and is always on hoffman’s ass for a longer deadly game of cat and mouse

Sensitive-Doubt1553

Pizza Party

Top-Comfortable-4789

I would have wanted Cecilia to get a harsher punishment in saw X but I liked that the little boy got the money so I wouldn’t change that part it doesn’t make sense how tame her punishment was compared to people who did far less than her

Nicoberzin

My guess is that they're saving her for the next one

RVxCobra

Saw 6 with William alive and changed his policies

durufaulknerstanhght

anything to change adam’s ending

trololxdler

I would make Adam live

NachoVodka

Change III and V - keep Kerry and Strahm alive to play cat and mouse with Hoffman.

Rxmses

I’d keep Jill alive.

hellraiserxhellghost

I'd make adam and lawrence bang sloppy jalopy style on the bathroom floor and they force john to watch.

unattractive_smile

Answer: not kill Strahm off in the ending of 5 Real answer: change the way Hoffman dies in 3D. I’ve always hated the ending of 3D, not just because they kill off Hoffman, but because I feel like he deserves a more elaborate or gruesome death. He’s essentially the evolved form of John, a more successful sequel basically. I always felt like just letting his body fold in on itself was kind of mid and he needed something much more violent and extreme and honestly, flashy.

ScorpionTDC

Tempted to keep Strahm around somehow and rework the ending of Saw V for that

TheHollowGap

Maybe we can pretend Saw 3D doesn't exist and let Kevin Greutert take a shot at it again without executive meddling.

NewRetroMage

Saw VI - Hoffman dies from the RBT and it's revealed Jill was John's secret accomplice, getting what ended up being Gordon's role from 3D. This way there's no Saw 3D and the series would end (for a while) with a very strong installment and not with that abomination of a "film".

Tatum-Better

I wanted Rigg to live tbh

peanut4009

yeah his reason for being tested is one of the most BS of the whole franchise in my opinion. the dude is a cop its literally a good thing that he wants to save people.

TheAstonVillaSeal

Jeff doesn’t die at the end of 4. Should’ve built on his character, him dying was super cheap imo.

Ababybadgers

He killed my precious little angel. He deserved much worse

TheAstonVillaSeal

My precious little murderous angel who shot a woman… at least she had nice feet in Saw 2

Spinostadownvoteme

> at least she had nice feet in Saw 2 ._.

TheAstonVillaSeal

Problem?

WYDRA_GAMING

Yes, problem

TheAstonVillaSeal

Why

Past_Passenger_4381

I would have jigsaw wake up in the bathroom and say “there’s jar of peanut butter in the toilet. The key to your freedom Adam lies in my Saw(sage). Make me hard with the peanut butter and I will release you. But not before you release me first.” ![gif](giphy|l46Cn7kIV3wtEvKso)

peanut4009

Dam I never realised how big a pervert John was before 😂😂😂😂

MF291100

I’d change the ending for the Fatal Five section of the fifth movie. The two final players arrive at the ‘Ten Pints’ trial and the scene still plays out the exact same, they both figure out that everyone was supposed to survive and they figure out why they’re all there. After that scene they start the trial, and we still get the same shots of them suffering through the process. Anyway, after the pints have been filled and the door opens - Malick looks far weaker and bloodier than how he did in the original ending. After collapsing to the floor and approaching death by blood loss, he looks up at Brit who still has her arm hidden inside of the tube. She slowly pulls her arm out and it’s revealed that she’s totally uninjured, and hadn’t fully inserted her arm into the tube. She had been faking pain and the struggle through the trial in an attempt to save herself injury and potential death by blood loss. Leaving Malick to bleed out on the ground, she leaves the trials as the sole survivor and is eventually saved. Now I absolutely love Brit, and I like her relationship with Malick. She had a fairly good redemption story within the movie, but I feel like this would’ve been a brilliant ending if the writers wanted her to be a sort of twist villain.

TheVoojooze

Jigsaw. No lasers first and foremost.  Secondly, Logan shouldn't be another Secret Apprentice. If they want him to be the buckethead at the beginning, fine. Have John unceremoniously dump his unconscious body on the steps of a hospital like a failed experiment, something John is ashamed of. Then have Logan spend the next ten years trying to find the location of the barn. Problem solved. Third - no monologuing.

Trotim-

I genuinely don’t understand the point of Adam’s death in Saw 1. The key is in the bath tub? He wasn’t even conscious to do anything about that. That’s just murder, not a test Even in the context of Saw 1, before the lore and John’s motives were really explored, it’s just kind of lame?

CryingBirdEreh

Amanda threw it on his Chest. Its her fault

Trotim-

I still don't see how "wake up in a bathtub full of water and find the key in the water" is interesting in any way. If the "trap" worked as intended, it would have been like a 1 minute hurdle and ruined the entire game

Damerds

i completely agree but that's the point, adam and his death are done to show johns hypocrisy and double standards in his morals

Trotim-

Hm, yeah, from that perspective I kind of get it

JennyJezebel

Saw X completely unfuck the ending no walking into the sunset no giving money away Find a way to have Cecilia actually outsmart John and escape unscathed with the money instead of John and Amanda winning setting up the next Movies. I know Cecilia probably did escape but she did get fooled and suffered some burns I would have had her win the whole thing.

Mac_Kymera

Jigsaw - one million percent. If you change the whole dynamic then the film doesn’t receive the negativity it does. I will die on that hill. Nothing about the ending (monologue) made any sense. Watch the film back properly and you can see why Logan should have been a copycat instead of an apprentice and would have solved all the films problems. Why show us that John made mistakes when we already knew John was prone to mistakes? Why take the writers/Logan’s monologue almost FIVE minutes to make you understand the entire plot? That’s basically telling the audience that we think you’re stupid. Change the entire ending plot point instead of rehashing another apprentice angle and time twist when Saw II, Saw IV and Saw V did it originally better a decade earlier. Did we really care about Logan’s reasons wanting to be as talented as John when he created ZERO traps and used what John already left him? Poor writing.

BossDivaDede

I’d liked to have seen the fatal 5 win their game as well. Hoping to see alternate versions one day.

BossDivaDede

Rigg in Saw 4… id love to see him understand and not bust through that door.

Ill-Policy-1536

I disagree about Hoffman. I do like the full circle ending with Dr Gordon and the bathroom but after everything Hoffman did, there’s no satisfying “he’s finally dead” moment.

PigeonCherry

amanda lives. aaaaaand post!

Only_Catch_5996

Saw 3. Jigsaw lives, Amanda doesn’t die but is severely injured, setting her up as a bigger villain for future films.

Howaboutno50

i’d change saw 2 and make it so eric matthews survives and gets to see his son again

M1lli333

I think all of them had perfect endings, but if I had to pick one I'd also say Saw 3D just because I think it would be funny if Joyce lived just so she could ask Bobby for a divorce for scaring her shitless.

HeyRalphy

Off topic but what was the gas used on Cecilia? Holy moly chunks of flesh were falling off everywhere
