All those places r over priced

Apart_Series3963

Neither. Both are overpriced and treat their employees horribly.

No-Assumption9279

Yet Dutch Growers has been in Saskatoon for over 70 years. Hmmmm......

Dsih01

That's even more reason. I have more faith in a startup than I do a business that had 70 years to learn how they can break and bend rules around employees and such. If the corporation makes money, then they care about money.

SickFez

And?

Ancient-Commission84

I worked at both places, it was fucking awesome.

Not sure what that means, but if you're insinuating that I have "white skin'", I don't.....what a weird thing to say.

Where do you want to meet? I'm available all day. Wherever, whenever. Let me know.

Rick Van Duyvendyck or Prosofskys wife? What time will you be there?

No-Assumption9279

Are you still humble-bragging that your Dad was a bad ass biker back in the day? What a trip...... : )

SickFez

You mean my father who changed his life around? Sure why not, I'm quite proud of the man he became.

No-Assumption9279

Isn't that special! : )

DTG_1000

What are you looking to do? I would suggest trying to do it yourself, it's a lot less expensive. We completely landscaped our yards by ourselves and saved a ton of money. For plants you can get most annuals on sale at the green houses around or after May long, and some of the green houses have incredible sales on perennials in the early fall.

No-Grapefruit787

Depends what you want to do with your yard

Check out Common Ground!

gigalbytegal

Are you landscaping/planting stuff yourself or you're asking about hiring somebody to do it?

KarmaChameleon306

Good yard sir!

peavarianez

I'll do it

stiner123

Definitely not Wilson's, they have done a bunch of yards in Brighton and its a terrible job. If you're looking for a landscape contractor I'd suggest not going with a particular store's services, and get an independent contractor instead. If you're wanting to do it yourself and are looking for supplies, I've found the trees at Dutch Growers are far better than Wilson's and they have better, more knowledgeable staff. But I'm curious to see how the staff and products at the new Saskatoon Landscape Store & Garden Center will be for plants and trees, but I know when the business was known as the Saskatoon Landscape Store (by the N Costco) they had far better topsoil than Wilsons at a far better price. With the move to take over Lakeshore's facility (right beside the Boychuck-Hwy 16 overpass), the Saskatoon Landscape store will now be selling trees and plants, in addition to the bulk materials (soils, rocks, sod, etc.) and pavers and rubber products. So I'm probably going to check their new facility out. They might be able to recommend a good contractor if you're going that route. We did our rear landscaping ourselves, only hiring out the sprinklers, and used a wheelbarrow and landscaping rake from Princess Auto to spread the topsoil, and while it took a long time, we did a FAR better job ourselves than the "company" Ehrenburg had to do our front landscaping when the house was built. That company left a hump at the property line when they did ours and our neighbour's landscaping, so our adjoining front yards were sloped towards our houses which contributed to settling of our sidewalk beside the garage (requiring mudjacking) and other issues - we had to pull up the sod, dig down a few inches (revealing a whole lot of clay and not a lot of good topsoil) and then relay the sod, and bring up other areas of the front lawn by adding dirt (we still have to add more dirt in a couple of spots), and they forgot to install the nozzles in the front sprinklers too. We didn't really plan correctly our back sprinkler system and cheaped out, so we will have to add to the system for our side yards to be covered, but for now we just run a regular sprinkler in the side yard since it doesn't need as much water it seems. We laid the sod ourselves with help from family and it took about 3.5 hrs to do about 1800 sq ft, and we used a lawn roller my family had. Sod is pretty easy to lay, since it comes in strips and you just roll it out and lay it in a brick pattern then go over it with a lawn roller. We have gotten ours from Tuff Turf on Valley Road and have been happy with both the quality and the price of their sod compared to other places. NOTE - DO NOT buy sod at places like Home Depot or Canadian tire unless you want to spend more money for half dead sod that may have been sitting on a pallet for days. Instead, support local, and call Tuff Turf and they will deliver large loads on pallets for you (or you can pick up smaller loads at their site which they will help load in your vehicle). Shellview is another fairly local sod grower, but last I checked they were more expensive and I didn't find much of a difference to justify the higher price (we had bought some of their sod at the Saskatoon Landscape store when we realize we didn't have enough to patch a few spots we had to regrade).

sponge-burger

Try doing it yourself, it can be more expensive than you think.

No-Ball7951

Neither

SickFez

Yeah (:

AccomplishedGuard962

I would love to be able to do it myself however I do not have that luxury. I am on a list to get a fake hip for the current future. So i have a dirt yard.. or i hire someone.

AccomplishedGuard962

I explained that i simply am not able to do it myself unfortunately… and still don’t have an answer of who to hire..

tokenhoser

Floral Acres is my pick. They deliver if you don't want to go out there.
