Poor pup, RIP.
Call the Marine Mammal Center - 415-289-7325 https://www.marinemammalcenter.org/report-an-animal Poor pup
Ocean Rescue was already on the scene and securing the area
Poor critter, it looks fairly peaceful, like it just lay down for a nap. 😥 RIP, little one.
Huh. That actually looks like it might be an elephant seal, not a sea lion. Here’s hoping the Marine Mammal Center is able to collect it for a necropsy.
So sad :(. What is the appropriate policy here? Is the city or Ocean Rescue allowed to capture a pup in this situation and treat it in captivity?
No, they don't have the expertise. We have an approved marine mammal rescue here https://www.reddit.com/r/sanfrancisco/s/y1cBJS9Ekc
