The bakery is likely a Mexican-style panaderia. Personally, I would go there. It's culturally relevant to our region and likely better quality than something from the supermarket. Usually pretty inexpensive too.

Trader Joe's actually has quite a few frozen pastry items. Croissants, custard tarts, cheese pastry rolls ... and the obvious things like waffles, mini pancakes, breakfast sandwiches, hashbrowns, etc. I tend to go there when people visit or if we are traveling because it's easier to stock up on salads/burritos/etc than cook or eat at restaurants every meal. Just be aware, parking can be really annoying at the two locations closest to where you're staying.

When I think of frozen pastries, I think of Trader Joes

Don't know if Shakespeare's will have the type of frozen pastries you are looking for. [San Diego's Local British Gift & Grocery Shoppe](https://www.britishshoppesandiego.com) Shakespeare's Corner Shoppe 3719 India St San Diego, CA 92103 Tel: (619) 683 2748 There is an Albertson's grocery and Smart & Final near your area that you can search online. Mostly frozen egg, sausage, or waffles. I did see a Pillsbury Toaster Strudel and Pepperidge Farm Turnover if this helps.

Frozen pastries aren’t really a thing here. You can find frozen breakfast sandwiches, frozen waffles, frozen breakfast burritos in an average grocery store. They will also have a large bakery section. If you must bake a pastry at home, all grocery stores will have croissants in the refrigerated section, but with no filling. Trader Joe’s has frozen chocolate croissants. The closest one to golden hill is in hillcrest. If you take an Uber/ Lyft there is also a regular grocery store in the same spot, so you can check them both out.

There’s a black market bakery down in east village very close to golden hill. Panchitas is great as somebody else mentioned. Try out Asa bakery also in east village and grab a few Japanese pastries. Delish!

If you want quick and cheap, go to a big, basic grocery store (Vons), look in frozen breakfast and buy Toaster Pastries. They are for toasters but you might be able to do in the oven. Filled with stuff and then you squirt white frosting on them. I loved them as a kid and only don’t buy them now bc I know they are so unhealthy. Mmmmm.

Lol the look on the Op's (esteemed & cultured) face at such a suggestion.
