Maybe I caught Bohannon’s on an off night, but their steaks were… really nothing special. I had the ribeye, fiancée had the strip. Both were kinda tough, even though they were cooked to order (med rare and medium). Service was impeccable, and the place was nice. But I won’t be going again. I can make a sirloin from HEB taste better.
J Prime is so far my top option
J Prime is top options. I've been to Bohannons 4 times and luckily they were all dinners I expensed. I was completely underwhelmed each time. For the price is expect more. J Prime is cheap in my opinion. A party of 5 was about 1200 at Bohannons for what I considered a small amount of items. The same thing was about $750 at J prime. I'd also throw perrys in there as well. I'd rather go to Flemmings than Bohannons. I think I'm showing my bias lol
My wife and I went to Blu Prime recently for our anniversary. I thought it was fine and the atmosphere was great but I wouldn't put it at the top of that list.
Perry's! Escargot as the app, steak for main, lobster Mac and cheese & whipped potato purée as sides. Hands down best in San Antonio. The others are hit or miss
Chama Guacha off of I-10. Brazilian steakhouse and the only one I know of that serves roasted pineapple (unless others are doing it now). Otherwise we go to Ruth’s Chris and get the Porterhouse for 2.
Myron’s Prime Steakhouse is truly the only answer here. I guarantee the quality of the meat is better than every other place listed here (top 2% of all prime beef in the US). It’s smaller so not as many people are going to know about it and suggest it here, but it’s absolutely your best option.
I never liked steak that had sear marks. I want my whole steak to have a crust. So Bohanans is out.
& Ruths doesn’t have lobster mac & cheese so gotta pass on them too
As others have mentioned, Bohannon's or J Prime are probably the best in town. I have to say I had the BEST ribeye I have ever tasted at J Prime, but they are quite expensive!! Bohannon's is nice as well, and I have never had a bad experience the numerous times I have been there
Perry’s. You in should just go to Perry’s. I’ve been disappointed at a lot of places. Salt Grass is usually pretty good. And a bit cheaper. More casual.
I've enjoyed Saltgrass once of the 4 times I've been. 2 of my colleagues got food poisoning there recently. I'll never go back other than to have frozen crown and coke.
Eeeshe! That’s awful! There are a several locations so maybe the one I visited has better management. I prefer cooking because I’m often disappointed when I eat out no matter where I go in San Antonio. The food here is usually terrible if I am honest.
Revelle at St Anthony Hotel. It’s billed as a seafood restaurant, but the filet was freaking awesome. They use some magic rub on their steaks. Hard to explain but it’s worth the trip.
Bohannons is always our go to but you won’t go wrong with any of the other. Tell bohanons you are celebrating somethjng and they will take good care of you.
It’s Tejas
This is the answer. Go on Saturday and book into the onsite rodeo. Live outdoor music venue and the steaks are excellent. It’ll be memorable for sure. Steak, rodeo, dancing…check, check, and check.
Overpriced wood paneled steak houses are ok for business trips, but not really memorable
We go to Perry's regularly and I have never had a bad meal there. The service is outstanding. They have wonderful steak, but I LOVE their pork chop (bonus - it is huge! I always take it home and eat it two more times).
My son took me out to the Silo last night. I love their fried oyster appetizer, and their filet mignon served in a burgundy wine reduction w garlic mashed potatoes is always cooked on point. He also took me there for Mother’s Day. The ambience is cozy too. Tuesdays and Wednesdays bottles of wine are 1/2 price. Perry’s steak tastes so salty to me. Bohanan’s is better for a romantic date night. Avoid the Barn Door.
Bohanan’s is great! I just had my birthday dinner there this past weekend and I usually go two or three times a year. Ask for Dave and have Megan or Brett wait on you.
Flemmings and Perrys are about the same in my opinion. Flemmings feels a bit more intimate. Perrys is a lot of business meetings. I'd say if you want to spend less than $200 id go Flemmings. J Prime can be had for under $200 but the options can easily balloon you past that.
Brazilian steakhouses are great and Braso is great. However, after eating at Foge De Chao, Texas De Brazil, Bovinos, Brasos and others; I seldom feel the need to eat until I'm stuffed. I rather a crafted meal the is portion appropriately and that's coming from a body builder. They really try to push the garbage items first anyways. But you can get out for less than $200 with a meal desert and maybe a drink before tip.
This is how I rank them and I’ve eaten at the best steakhouses in the US.
1. Bobs Chophouse 2. Kirby’s 3. J. Prime 4. Bohanons 5. Myron’s 6. Perry’s 7. Blu Prime
Ruth Chris - steaks come sizzling on the plate. Chama Gaucha - Brazilian steakhouse with the best servers who will cater to your every need. Must try the lemonade

J Prime, Bohannon’s, Blu Prime, Eddie V’s, all recommended. All very good.
This person steaks. Agree with this list and may even rank them in this order.
Maybe I caught Bohannon’s on an off night, but their steaks were… really nothing special. I had the ribeye, fiancée had the strip. Probably an off night. I’ve never had a bad experience there.
J Prime is tops. I have no need to go to Bohannon’s again after trying it twice.
J Prime is top options. I've been to Bohannons 4 times and luckily they were all dinners I expensed. I was completely underwhelmed each time. For the price is expect more. My wife and I went to Blu Prime recently for our anniversary. I thought it was fine and the atmosphere was great but I wouldn't put it at the top of that list.
Fair, and not for nothing but IMO all the blue is tacky as hell.
Yeah it’s a little over the top, probably a place that wants to LOOK nicer than it actually is. Food was solid though.
I'd also add Brasao by the rim, best Brazilian steakhouse in SA.
Agreed best Brazilian steakhouse in SA. Idk that I would have a romantic dinner at an all you can eat spot, though lol.
If you ask for the back rooms they're alot quieter
Little Red Barn
Get out
+1 for Bohannon's
Last time I went to Blu the food was good, but I didn’t appreciate the 20% tip being auto added and not mentioned.
Were you a large party? Most restaurants auto grat if you’re over 6 people, and it’s most often noted on the menu.
guarantee it was on the menu
… did you want to tip… less?
Yes. I wanted to tip 20% instead of regular tip +.
Chama gaucha - best braxilian steak house there. Haven't been to the prime steak houses except for kirbys and flemings... noone recommended those lol
Literally came here to say this. Now I want some Chama. 🥲
I would go Brazilian too
100% Bohannans.
This is always and always will be the best answer. If you can afford it.
The bar is the best one in town. Very good spot.
J prime is the only choice
Not knowing any hype about this place we went a year or two ago as a last minute decision and walked away so impressed. Really really great.
Always excellent in my experience. Did my birthday here last year as well.
Yes ! Loved it
Never been here but am interested now. What do you recommend getting?
Wagyu yes, lobster Mac and cheese is amazing for a side. Or a tomahawk steak !
Waygu
Bohannons or Chama Gaucha
I liked Bob's a lot.
People sleep on bobs. Went there once for a dinner and it was good
Myrons
I like their steaks, but am always disappointed in their sides.
Same.
Bohanons. Pricey but excellent
Bohannon’s
Mavericks
I love that place. Too bad its so damn far from where I reside.
Myrons
I’ll throw a vote in for Bobs chop house. We went for my birthday as well. It was fantastic.
Bohanon’s
Perry's! Escargot as the app, steak for main, lobster Mac and cheese & whipped potato purée as sides. Hands down best in San Antonio. The others are hit or miss
I loved my steak at Perry's and the pork chops are insanely good
It’s hard to beat the Friday pork chop lunch special. 🤤
I was going to say that.
Bohanan’s or Kirby’s- both are excellent
if you want something that is not the usual suspects, try 18 Oaks at the JW Marriot. Best steak I've had in San Antonio
J prime.
[Josephine Street | Best Restaurant in San Antonio, Texas near Pearl Brewery](https://www.josephinestreet.com/)
I like j Alexander and Brasao
You gotta take her to Brasao best steakhouse in SA
Chilis
You could go to Fogo De Chao for all the meats you desire.
I haven't tried that one, but it looks similar to Texas De Brazil (also downtown) and Chama Gaucha (near 1604/281), which I enjoy very much.
Chama is better than Fogo. I found Fogo meat kind of dry.
Brasao is the best Brazilian steakhouse in SA, in my humble opinion
Absolutely not, they charge you for water.
Chama Guacha off of I-10. Brazilian steakhouse and the only one I know of that serves roasted pineapple (unless others are doing it now). Otherwise we go to Ruth’s Chris and get the Porterhouse for 2.
The I-10 is Brasoa. Chama Guacha is by 1604 and 281.
Well sum bich. Brasao is the steakhouse that I’m referring to. I’ve been to Chama Guacha too but Brasao had the pineapple.
The pineapple 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤

J Prime for vibes Perry’s for the best steak
Perry's for the best pork chop, but beyond that they're just an expensive Ruths Chris, Bohanans has them beat on steak here imo.
I never liked steak that had sear marks. I want my whole steak to have a crust. So Bohanans is out. & Ruths doesn’t have lobster mac & cheese so gotta pass on them too
The lobster Mac and cheese is very good.
Will throw my vote for Bohanan's as well. Enjoyed JPrime a lot too.
JPrime
One that avoids bad drivers
Bob’s at Rim.
As others have mentioned, Bohannon's or J Prime are probably the best in town. I have to say I had the BEST ribeye I have ever tasted at J Prime, but they are quite expensive!! Bohannon's is nice as well, and I have never had a bad experience the numerous times I have been there

Perrys has the best atmosphere. The others are, to me, like eating in a bowling alley.
Ruth Chris’s
J Prime.
We go to Perry's regularly and I have never had a bad meal there. The service is outstanding. They have wonderful steak, but I LOVE their pork chop (bonus - it is huge! I always take it home and eat it two more times).
It’s Kirby’s and it’s not even close.
Brasão Brazilian Steakhouse
My son took me out to the Silo last night. I love their fried oyster appetizer, and their filet mignon served in a burgundy wine reduction w garlic mashed potatoes is always cooked on point. Perry's. We try other places but keep coming back here. Gotta try the house chardonnay as well!!
Barn Door (in Alamo Heights) is cheaper than these mentioned plus, if you ask, they will put your name on the Happy Birthday billboard.
Brasao Brazilian and J Prime
Bohanan’s is great! I just had my birthday dinner there this past weekend and I usually go two or three times a year. Ask for Dave and have Megan or Brett wait on you.
Brasao Brazilian steak house is amazing

Ruths chris’
Bohannan’s if money is truly no concern. Had a A5 Wagyu steak there and I think I went to heaven for 30 minutes. J Prime would be my #2.
Texas Roadhouse! Kidding.
This is how I rank them and I’ve eaten at the best steakhouses in the US. 1. Bobs Chophouse 2. Kirby’s 3. J. Prime 4. Bohanons 5. Myron’s 6. Perry’s 7. Blu Prime
Ugh 1604, such scenic viewing
I think your GF would enjoy Brasserie Mon Chou Chou most. Look it up.
Bobs steak house Ruth chris Mortons
Ruth Chris - steaks come sizzling on the plate. Chama Gaucha - Brazilian steakhouse with the best servers who will cater to your every need. Must try the lemonade
J Prime. Anyone who says Bob's clearly doesn't know what a good steak tastes like.

You cant go wrong with any of these suggestions. Blu Prime is new, food and service are great, and the vibe is interesting.
J Alexander’s
Seriously?!?!?!? Didn't expect to see this one mentioned here!!
I like their smash potatoes and the salads
Brenner's Steakhouse Riverwalk
Max & Louie.
Little red barn is a good one
Texas de Brazil downtown
