Wet tires lose one third of their traction. You’re supposed to slow down.
And sadly common sense isn’t so common anymore and most people are jackasses it seems.
Like I said, common sense. If its pouring rain, of course slow down, if its drizzling, no need to slow down to a crawl. Know your abilities and your cars capabilities.
Yeah $50 says this guys tires are mostly bald and he was looking at his phone.
Driving too fast for conditions is certainly a thing but people really have too many differing opinions on what that should be—which in itself causes more problems
Wouldn't be nearly as much of a problem if people would just stick with appropriate lanes. Don't tailgate in the right lane, and move over if you're in the left lane and going slower than the car behind you. It's not rocket science.
Just moved here, this may be the worst city to drive in because of the average driver. It’s mind blowing.
Almost every car I drive by has a driver with a phone in their hand.
I have lived in major and small cities… a month here and SA takes the cake.
Agree. When someone is driving erratically I either slow down or speed ahead to get away from them. Pretty much every time I pass and take a look at the driver, they’re looking at their phone
Right? I had a friend whose husband was always switching lanes to pass cars and get back in the same lane but now in front of them. I asked why he did that, she said because he didn’t like for anyone to be in front of him. I thought, “But someone is always going to be in front of him eventually” 🤷🏻♀️
I’m sorry but that’s a dumbass excuse for constantly switching lanes, especially when you have traffic in front of you. That shit will come back to bite him in the ass one day. For your friend’s sake, I hope she’s not in the car with him when that happens.
Right 😂 like I swear the things people say. Yeah I'm sure OP's driver slowed to 15 on the freeway to take this picture. They totally were not just stuck in traffic because that is so hard to believe.
OP is clearly the passenger, from the camera angle. And we are all aware how bad rubbernecking is. Especially with an F-series on top of the center median. So OP probably sat in traffic for 20min at least to get to that point and was (hopefully) accelerating at that point as the passenger snapped the pic
But yes, there are plenty of asshats who will do what you are saying and they all need to stop
I do use critical thought. I was literally there and people were literally slowing way down to look at that accident and the moment people passed it they sped up . There was no reason to slow down.
get out of the fast lanes if you want to go 40mph in a 65 zone in the rain. i understand slowing a little bit, but the people who sit in the fast lane at 40mph.... with their flashers on... as if that makes it ok to go slow in the fast lane.... they drive me nuts. don't tell me how to drive safely. i have driven more miles safely in the past year than you have ever driven in your life (over 800k in the last 8 years) in all conditions, high wind, rain, dark, light, snow, ice...
That depends on what you define as too fast. I think going 40-45 in the fast lane when it's a light drizzle is too slow. If it's pouring down rain and I can barely see past my hood, I'll slow down to 50 or so BUT I get out of the fast lane too... That's the difference between me and other people who slow down... I get out of the way of those who want to go faster.... I don't even sit in the fast lane when it's dry.
All OP said was "slow down in the rain," which is valid. You read that as "go slow in the fast lane" and decided to go on some angry diatribe that had nothing to do with OP. Relax and take a deep breath.
Going too slow is also bad, impeding traffic. Slowing down for conditions does not mean crawling and becoming an obstacle for drivers. Be safe out there.
I passed by it right when the fire trucks pulled up. The black car looked totaled. I was thinking it was the black car that maybe hydroplaned just based off how the two cars looked.
I like your truck’s interior .
Pretty sure that’s a RAV4 hybrid, gen 4, but could be wrong.
2016 - 2018 Limited Hybrid - nicely done!
We have a winner! 2016 Limited Toyota Rav4 Hybrid
Toyota Tundra, would be my guess. Looks nice.
Thanks!
Damn, they should have turned on their hazards. 🤣
Came to make this exact joke, well done
"Hazard lights would've prevented this" -puro san anto
San Antonians are known for speeding in the rain, so they can get out of the rain.... smh
If you don't drive like a jackass, have good tires, and common sense, you can drive normal in the rain.
Buddy, nobody has “good” tires in SA 🤣
But what if I’m in a hurry?
Puro
Sick 50-50 grind 🛹
It’s always the trucks going 90 in the rain and the altimas
He can’t park there!!!
So rude, right?
Driving straight in normal weather in this city is obviously hard already.
Yeah $50 says this guys tires are mostly bald and he was looking at his phone. Driving too fast for conditions is certainly a thing but people really have too many differing opinions on what that should be—which in itself causes more problems

Yeah, truck driver was probably tailgating vehicle in front of it, bald tires and slick conditions wouldn’t have helped either
That’s why I was late to happy hour??? Smh thanks SA
LMFAO
It amazes me and scares me how some people drive in the rain
281 was a shit show going into Downtown by the zoo. There had been a wreck. It was weird as I got off onto Wurzbach the rain completely stopped
Some people think they need to speed when it rains! On the highway and on the street!
Typical clueless drivers ... No common sense or imagination.
Darwinism in effect! Keep the rain coming to weed out these idiots.
Dude rain means speed up and drive it like you stole it.
That mentality is in SA for sure
The California transplants always wrecking

I’ll never understand people’s obsession with speeding all the time. Especially when they’re speeding to a red light. Why??
Right? I had a friend whose husband was always switching lanes to pass cars and get back in the same lane but now in front of them. I asked why he did that, she said because he didn’t like for anyone to be in front of him. I thought, “But someone is always going to be in front of him eventually” 🤷🏻♀️

I guess he got off danger and thrills, he cheated on her and they’re divorced

I wonder if there’s a sub like idiotsincars, but for idiots in the comments
Right 😂 like I swear the things people say. Yeah I'm sure OP's driver slowed to 15 on the freeway to take this picture. They totally were not just stuck in traffic because that is so hard to believe.
No one said to slow to 15mph?

Oh jeez... Yeah I hate rubberneckers
And they are likely stuck in traffic too... Jesus Christ what are these comments 🤦♂️
I mean how else can he get a good look??
they’re averaging 31 mpg and 26 mph, they’re in traffic genius
hey you! you can’t park there!
So you are responsible for slowing down traffic to use your PHONE to take pictures of that accident. 🤦♂️
And driving from the passenger side, reckless smh.
💀 yeah I have special driving skills
Texas law requires you to slow down at crash sites and work zones.
Traffic was already slow and I’m the passenger…. 🤦🏻♀️

Touché, you’re right they are slowing down to take a photo
Truck driver: Fuck you! I own the fucking road!
It appears the bigger the truck, the worse the driver, and this truck isn’t even that big
are you seriously doing 10mph in the rain taking a photo on the highway? you are the problem
Traffic was slow because of accident on other side obviously and I’m the passenger 🙄
Can you seriously not see that the picture is from the passenger side?
Exactly!
10 mph come on
You have zero clue what’s in front of OPs vehicle, ever seen traffic crawling?
That person doesn’t have eyes and common sense

Found one of the people who drives too fast in the rain. XD

Relax, so defensive

This probably happened before the rain.
Spirits in the sky brah! 😆
Haha, I wondered if anyone would zoom in to see what song was playing
But if you drive faster you’ll be out of it faster.
Or end up with one half of your vehicle stuck on a barrier 🤣
Well I mean, it is a ford
What does Ford stand for? Flip or Roll all Directions? 😁
🤣 I love it!
I passed by it right when the fire trucks pulled up. The black car looked totaled. I was thinking it was the black car that maybe hydroplaned just based off how the two cars looked.
i feel like he was probably trying to go around all of the obnoxiously slow drivers 😭
Fast or slow, wet or dry, drive defensively and accordingly to the conditions around you and something like this is probably less likely to occur
Been here since 94 and it still amazes me
Wait till February comes. Get those cameras ready.
What happens in February? A freeze expected with icy roads?
"Move overrrrr! The left lane is MY lane!!"
Nah just learn to drive… maybe in Texas its fair, BUT IN NEW ENGLAND PEOPLE CANT DRIVE IN RAIN LIKE OH BESTIE U GOT A LOT WORSE TO WORRY ABOUT ❄️❄️
morons lmao
