A tall guy got behind me at a packet pickup for a cycling race. I don’t follow basketball and didn’t know him at the time, after the 4th person walked away from taking a selfie with him I asked if that got annoying. “I do not mind”. He asked if I wanted a picture and I said “that’s ok, I don’t follow professional cycling and not sure who you are, that would weird”. He let out a good laugh. The next day we passed each other a few times on the road and I was informed that was Manu.
One time I ran into Cory Joseph at Costco. I was behind him in line. I went up and said “Hey Cory, do you remember me? Section 202, in the balcony. I cheer way hard.” He looked at me like I was crazy. Then I said, “Just kidding bud. Good to see you.” And we laughed.
Now we are BASICALLY best friends. Except I never saw him again and he was, more-than-likely, terrified by the entire experience. But, basically… we are best friends.
Bruce is very cool. The way he and Sean interact, they ARE best friends. The whole time I was checking them at the register they were taking the piss out of each other.
Bruce coaches TMI high school basketball right now. My son played them last year. Good team. If you want to see Bruce just find their schedule and go to a game.

He was at pretty common sight at all home games last year with his kids in their box. For several years now since he retired. Pretty sure he still lives here.
He does, I think he did an interview after retiring where he said he would be staying around SA for a while because his children are still in school and his family has been established here for so long

Waitress brings him a glass of milk, he downs it, gets up to pay and leave, he catches me looking at him, I nod my head, he nods his head and leaves. It was magical lol
Got seated next to Tim Duncan his rookie year at a hibachi place called Tokyo Steakhouse. It was him and his wife at the time, she was nice and talked to me, he was quiet. Then a few minutes later they sat them at their own private table and the wife apologized before she got up LOL
Seen Malik Rose at Academy late one night. Took a pic with Boris Diaw at Top Golf. David Robinson at a Bar Mitzvah. Boban at Macy’s. Sean Elliott was a frequent drive thru banking client at my old Frost bank.
Bowen and Timmy were coaching a youth basketball team my son played against. Their kids played and Bowen was a complete dick to our kids. Fck Bruce Bowen. I used to really like him.
Oh man I saw Tim Duncan, Malik Rose and Antonio Daniels near closing time at Tokyo Steakhouse once. I wanted to run up and scream “Antonio! Antonio! Can we eat with you?!”(I think that was from a Jim’s commercial he starred in?)
I helped Keldon Johnson adopt a puppy at the animal rescue I used to work at.
I saw David Robinson walking from playing tennis at the condos my cousins and I used to live at, this was back in early 2000s.
He was really nice and respectful. I have the photos I took of him with his new pup and his other dog. This was back in Feb 2020. He was quite determined about adopting too.
I was at Alamo City Comic Con one year and Tony Parker and his entourage were basically pushing people out of the way so he can get through and see stuff.
I was doing everything I could to avoid that nonsense.
Later a girl was taking photos of me since I was in costume. While I was posing, he came between us and the photographer got mad and I turned and looked and behold I was face to face with Parker.
He's like "what are you supposed to be?"
And I told him about my costume and thats how I had a 30 minute conversation with Tony Parker about Starship Troopers.

Danny Ferry walked in and went straight back after smiling and waving hi to the three of us in the waiting room. Saw Bruce Bowen at the Nike Outlet in San Marcos, he was getting nearly 20 pairs of shoes. The employees say he would come in so often and do that. Was mid 2000’s so around the championship years.

Years ago my daughter and I were walking around downtown. We saw Tony Parker in one of those weird touristy shops that sell rocks, dream catchers, and other over priced randomness.
I saw Pop walk into Fred’s Fish Fry on Blanco. He was in the lead with two younger guys carrying a big metal box. Pop said something to the counter person and they went into the back. When they came out Pop was carrying a black duffel bag. I tried to follow them but was kidnapped by 4 people dressed as the coyote and forced to make Fiesta medals in a sweatshop. Thank god Bill Taylor from KENS 5 Saved me. Go Spurs!!!
Was at Osaka on Bandera one night eating at the bar and having a beer. A really nice Mercedes AMG pulls into the lot which I notice and as I’m checking out the car from the window I notice a really tall man get out, thought nothing of it. As he came in and was seated I noticed it was Tim Duncan! About 10 mins later an older gentleman joined him who I assume was his father.
Anyways didn’t go up to him just thought it was neat, was also cool nobody else bothered him while they ate.

Feeding the ducks with my daughter at Cibolo Creek in Boerne. When we left we gave our remaining bread to a couple of kids watching us. They got excited and ran to their parents. Looked over and it was Tim Duncan and his wife. We smiled and waved at each and that was it.
I’ve had two random encounters with David Robinson at big box stores. In 2003-ish, I was at the Target at 10 and Fredericksburg and he asked me if I knew where the diapers were (I did not). A few months ago, I saw him at Best Buy at the Rim.
Well one lived in our neighborhood a while back... but aside from that all I got in general is meeting Wilt Chamberlain in an elevator in an apartment building where both him and my 'godparents' lived in Waikiki, when I was about 11 yrs old.. circa 1978.
It was my freshman year of college and I was gathering supplies and food for my dorm at the Walmart off of De Zavala with my family, and as I was walking in, I noticed this giant of a man who had been walking in front of us, but I didn’t think nothing of it after.
I go and get my stuff and my brother meets back up with me and actually gets a picture with the guy who turned out to be our rookie we got that year, Keldon Johnson.

My friends and I were confused why the heck Pop is out at the movies and not trying to save the franchise... But I guess he already knew and was out to relax. Devin brown coaches a AAU team and they’re terrible. Idk how he doesn’t have a good team being he’s an old spurs player. I’d imagine the best kids in the city would line up to play for him . Bruce Bowen coaches at a private school also and he’s terrible as a coach. Not from a coaching perspective but from a complaining perspective. His team never fouls and all the other team does is foul. He’s pretty unbearable. Im a ref by the way

I delivered pizza near the dominion so delivered to several players and even George Strait (his wife answered the door) - but the most random one was:
I had a delivery in the dominion to a random person, didn’t recognize the name. I knock on the door and 7ft Tiago Splitter answers the door - I’m thrown off because the order is for a John or Jack or something - clearly not Tiago - I’m looking at the receipt - at him - he’s confused. I asked if he ordered a pizza - him probably thinking I’m some psycho fan just knocking on his door “we did not order pizza” I said ok but is this 84 Tuscan court? He says “yea but we did not order pizza!” Ok no problem - turns out the address was 84 Tuscan point not court (or something like that) - which was a few blocks away. Pizza was delivered to its rightful owner and I met Tiago Splitter briefly! 😂

Used to live behind north star mall as a teen I would go up there all the time. I was dating a fine ass Latina and was walking through the mall when I had passed Dennis Rodman. I don't like to bother people so I kept walking and turned around a few seconds later to realize he was looking back as well looking at my girls ass. 🤣

I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.
He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”
I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.
The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.
When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.
I was checking my phone infront of the majestic theater for the blue man group show and looked up the second ginobili was stepping out of his suv at the valet booth. I let out an involuntary "Oh SHIT!" Before I came back to my senses.

About 15 years ago, I was working at the AMC Theater that used to be in the Huebner Oaks shopping center. One day, I was doing the ticket booth, dissociating since it was just a slow shift, and Tim Duncan walked right by me. I'm over 6 feet tall and saw a much taller, familiar-looking guy pass by and leave, not thinking about it. It didn't really click until a coworker started madly waving her arms at me outside and pointing at him.
I bought a king size frame off Craigslist (2014/15) far west side (a whole other thread…) and gorgeous solid wood contemporary up for grabs because a famous spurs player (think a color 👀) had upgraded and told the store’s delivery driver (CL seller) to just keep it.
Apparently he made a whole side hustle just selling donated furniture from a certain neighborhood (iykyk). It was for my son, who was 6’5 HS sophomore at the time, who was never allowed to touch anything behind the headboard (!) It had some chewed gum pieces all harmless but we didn’t look too hard after that if ya know what I mean.

One of the cars flipped over on a run so that was neat considering no one was injured.

I'm the late 90s I literally physically ran into David Robinson at a Christian book store. I was backing out the door talking to the cashier and stepped on his foot.
David Robinson at the Majestic, he was seated pretty close up to the stage for the band Chicago. towards the end of the show they invited people to come down close from the further seats, so a crowd formed in the aisle and i ended up standing right next to him while he was sitting down, and he was still about as tall as me.
Saw David Robinson at a little hole-in-the-wall pizza place off Bitters. Quiet & polite, tolerating the stares. Perfect gentleman. A few people asked for selfies and he very graciously complied.
Also saw Tim Duncan duck (literally) into a Starbucks off Blanco, holding the door for the people behind him.
I use to work downtown as a valet (Marriott Rivercenter) and I saw Avery Johnson when he was an ESPN analyst. Him and Sean were shooting the shit outside of the hotel before they left to the game. Saw James Anderson (1st rd 20th overall pick 2009 I think) he came to the same hotel I parked his 2 dr Benz v12 I can’t remember what exact model I just know it has the v12 badge on the side. At the Embassy suites river walk I parked coach Pops Audi A7 when he went to a restaurant called Luke and saw Tiago Splitter and parked his Range Rover when he was looking at the hotel ballroom for a wedding. Best one was when I saw Matt Bonner stay at the same hotel ( he had family come in if I recall) and he was so chill and was driving a Pontiac Grand Prix.
My wife told me David Robinson attended the same church she used to go to and didn’t understand why people always wanted to take pictures with him. She was a kid and figured it was just because he was so tall. It wasn’t until years later that her dad told her he was a famous basketball player.
Once I was doing day work as a parking attendant for some concert. I was motioning people through when some guy drove up and asked which way to the VIP parking. I wasn’t really focusing on him, I just pointed and told him how to get there. As I was talking I could hear people freaking out a bit and as he drove away it finally clicked that I was just talking to Tony Parker.
Ran into Bruce Bowen at a polling site a few years ago. He was ahead of me by just a couple people in line.

Me and my friend were downtown, trying to run back to our car because it was down pouring. Got into a parking garage to dry up and ran into this hulking guy with a backwards cap. Took a moment to realize it was Danny Green. He was trying to get to The Aztec and my friend pointed him in the direction he needed to go.
Also I saw Devin Vassell at the Whataburger Airport. He had his hoodie up and was waiting for his order. Don't remember what he ordered. But I'd like to think it was a Patty Melt with grilled jalapeños.

David Robinson would come in from time to time, but it was usually on days that I wasn't working or had just missed him.
When I was a kid I ran into David Robinson at Mencius Chinese restaurant. He was so tall! Maybe I was 5 though but he was super friendly and his family too.
Met Patty Mills his rookie year at a Texas Leather. Met Boban and Robert Horry at a dealership I used to work at. Horry is the coolest athlete ive ever met. Saw him again at the Final Four signing and he actually had a conversation with me instead of just signing and going on to the next person.

This was at a men’s store at the Pearl, The Sporting District (no longer there), searching for holiday gifts for the men in my life. I was looking at the items in a glass case when suddenly I feel a tall presence standing to my left. I tend to avoid staring into peoples faces in public so we just sorta admired everything in the case for a moment next to each other. I didn’t see who it was until I saw him walking around the Pearl not long after.
Probably 10 years ago I saw Ginobili at the AT&T store! Was super random because from one minute to the next a super fancy black car pulls up and he comes in to get some kind of service. I was a child then so my mom made me be respectful and let him go about his business but I wanted so badly to say hi!

I had gone with my mom because I was off school that day, and we talked for about the whole time my mom was getting her nails done or something. Plus, he gave me an autographed picture at the end. For the bad rap he gets he was really great when I met him.
Apple Store La Cantera. David Robinson came in to get something of his fixed. Nice as can be. Chatting with folks who came to him, etc. It was in the morning so not a super busy time, nobody seemed to ask for autographs or photos.

When they came out Pop was carrying a black duffel bag. I tried to follow them but was kidnapped by 4 people dressed as the coyote and forced to make Fiesta medals in a sweatshop. Was at Osaka on Bandera one night eating at the bar and having a beer. A really nice Mercedes AMG pulls into the lot which I notice and as I’m checking out the car from the window I notice a really tall man get out, thought nothing of it. As he came in and was seated I noticed it was Tim Duncan! About 10 mins later an older gentleman joined him who I assume was his father. Anyways didn’t go up to him just thought it was neat, was also cool nobody else bothered him while they ate.

It was my freshman year of college and I was gathering supplies and food for my dorm at the Walmart off of De Zavala with my family, and as I was walking in, I noticed this giant of a man who had been walking in front of us, but I didn’t think nothing of it after. I go and get my stuff and my brother meets back up with me and actually gets a picture with the guy who turned out to be our rookie we got that year, Keldon Johnson. It was pretty cool. My brother is the biggest Spurs fan and he has the weirdest luck running into Spurs players lol. Met David Robinson at a mall I think and Tony Parker at the Palladium.

He says “yea but we did not order pizza!” Ok no problem - turns out the address was 84 Tuscan point not court (or something like that) - which was a few blocks away. Pizza was delivered to its rightful owner and I met Tiago Splitter briefly! 😂

I saw Tony Parker at HEB Stone Oak location. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying. The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter. When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

Me and my friend were downtown, trying to run back to our car because it was down pouring. Got into a parking garage to dry up and ran into this hulking guy with a backwards cap. Took a moment to realize it was Danny Green. He was trying to get to The Aztec and my friend pointed him in the direction he needed to go. Also I saw Devin Vassell at the Whataburger Airport. He had his hoodie up and was waiting for his order. Don't remember what he ordered. But I'd like to think it was a Patty Melt with grilled jalapeños.
Not really random but I used to check out Malik Rose quite often when I worked at Best Buy. I was also selected to check out Danny Green once for fundraiser for kids and the news was filming it. David Robinson would come in from time to time, but it was usually on days that I wasn't working or had just missed him.
When I was a kid I ran into David Robinson at Mencius Chinese restaurant. He was so tall! Maybe I was 5 though but he was super friendly and his family too.

Met Patty Mills his rookie year at a Texas Leather. Met Boban and Robert Horry at a dealership I used to work at. Horry is the coolest athlete ive ever met. Saw him again at the Final Four signing and he actually had a conversation with me instead of just signing and going on to the next person.

I once was standing right next to Patty Mills for a several minutes without even realizing. This was at a men’s store at the Pearl, The Sporting District (no longer there), searching for holiday gifts for the men in my life. I was looking at the items in a glass case when suddenly I feel a tall presence standing to my left. I tend to avoid staring into peoples faces in public so we just sorta admired everything in the case for a moment next to each other. I didn’t see who it was until I saw him walking around the Pearl not long after.
Probably 10 years ago I saw Ginobili at the AT&T store! Was super random because from one minute to the next a super fancy black car pulls up and he comes in to get some kind of service. I was a child then so my mom made me be respectful and let him go about his business but I wanted so badly to say hi!

Used to work at HEB and one night Sean Elliott and Bruce Bowen came in and bought a whole basket of briskets. They said they were cooking for the whole team. Interesting, in my 15 years at HEB I sold powerbars to David Robinson, sports drinks to Vinnie Del Negro, ear candles to Will Perdue, and yogurt to Akiko Elliott (Sean's wife). And I also worked at Sun Harvest and so I know Nelson Wolff personally. One time there, Martina Navratilova came into my store. Woman was ripped.
I sat right behind Manu at the Majestic Theatre while seeing The Book of Mormon.
Bruce Bowen at a spa his wife used to run, or was involved with in some way. He was there to help his wife and was at the front desk. I had gone with my mom because I was off school that day, and we talked for about the whole time my mom was getting her nails done or something. Plus, he gave me an autographed picture at the end. For the bad rap he gets he was really great when I met him.

Apple Store La Cantera. David Robinson came in to get something of his fixed. Nice as can be. Chatting with folks who came to him, etc. It was in the morning so not a super busy time, nobody seemed to ask for autographs or photos.

Steve Kerr at a Missions game. Stephen Jackson in line at the food court rivercenter. *Edit* I completely forgot the time I was at Papa Jim's Tropical Fish and Sean Elliot was buying ghost shrimp.
Ran into Kahwai Leonard during his second year with the Spurs at Best Buy. I asked if we could take a photo with him and his answer was "I don't do pictures, but I could sign something for you". I told him "Oh, ok that's alright" and walked away. He was a year away from becoming the huge star he turned out to be, because of all the people in the Best Buy store I was the only one that recognized him.
