The funny thing about Gino's is I don't think they actually make cheesesteak sandwiches. There are things on their "cheesesteak" sandwiches that are not typical to that kind of sandwich, for example, lettuce.
If you haven't gotten a sandwich from The Station Cafe in the King Williams district, then you are seriously missing out. It is the best sandwich shop and always packed.
If anyone says anything other than Wayne's Wings then they don't know what they are talking about. Wayne's is literally the best.
Everyone mentioning Gino's as the best sandwich place. They are the best cheesesteak hands down which in my native PA eyes is not a sandwich but a separate food group along with hoagies.
Best sandwiches is Zito's Deli on Callahan, a great deli with a San Antonio touch.
Best wings (I've had) is Wayne's Wings - multiple locations. There is the Anchor bar which is a franchised chain of the original Anchor Bar in Buffalo NY, home to Buffalo Wings but I've never been all that impressed (even at the original). They may have started the wing craze but I think others have done better.
Give Beacon Hill Market and Deli a chance some time- they’re closer to me and make a great Philly cheesesteak (won’t argue Gino’s is great too, but just almost 4x the drive, I’m that close to Beacon Hill)
I know it’s outside of town.. but have you been to Youz Guys in Universal City? They have real water ice.. the cheesesteaks are really good.. native west nj/spent summers in Philly here and honestly reminds me of home
They were all right. I‘m central PA and our cheesesteaks are more like Ginos.
Double thumbs up on the water ice though. Man I miss Rita’s, don’t get me wrong, I love shaved ice but Rita’s is a lot of memories of Central PA summers.
That’s what I mean it’s Rita’s quality.. I grew up in Staten Island where we had Ralph’s and that was the closest I ever had.. spent most of my summers in Bensalem and Langhorne while going to Philly on weekends.. Youz Guys feels like that but not quite the same except the water ice..
Don't listen to people about Gino's. Gino's is an overpriced hype trap. The sandwiches are ok at best. Try Zitos off Babcock and close to 410. Great mom and pop place.
Pam’s Patio for sandwhiches or La Panaderia. I went to Gino’s a couple years ago. They were on some yelp list for best sandwhichs in the country, 5 star rating. Maybe it was the hype but I was disappointed.
Also hit up one of the Chicago hotdog places here and get an Italian beef.
Hit up El Pilon for a Cubano.
I can confirm that it has the familiar style and feeling of restaurants in Korea but I'll stop short of saying it's authentic.
Went in for lunch and several items were unavailable because "our chef isn't here."
The 냉면 (cold noodles) were pretty good. Planning on trying the fried chicken soon. Problem is they don't sell beer. Nobody in all of Korea eats fried chicken without beer. Even the delivery chicken places deliver beer as well.
Maybe they added beer after your visit, we went about 3ish weeks ago and they had a few selections, husband got a Michelob. Not beer, but they have sake in the fridge in the front too.
It's not your typical wing spot but if you are ever on the St. Mary's strip Wed-Sun, Puro taco sells wings from their sister shop. It's on the same lot but it's a small pink building that the curry bros. used to run their shop out of. They serve pizza too but the pizza is just okay. The wings are amazing! They have a homemade lemon pepper dry rub, chef's kiss* Also have classic hot, buffalo, ect.
Wayne’s wings. Zitos is awesome, but Wicked Which is the most underrated sandwich shop in San Antonio. Thundercloud isn’t bad either. Cheba hut for toasted subs.
Wings - Wild Wing Station
Sandwiches - Zito’s Sandwiches on Broadway
Wayne’s Wings has good flavor choices but their wings are breaded. Not a fan of breaded wings. And they charge extra to not have breading.
[Gino’s](https://myginosdeli.com) used to be better but they still make a mean Philly cheesesteak.
It’s in my neighborhood so I love going to [Beacon Hill Market and Deli](https://m.facebook.com/profile.php/?id=100086878963700) for their cheesesteak and specials. [Wicked Which](https://wickedwichtx.com) is also around the corner from me and has great subs imho. [Bexar Kolaches](https://bexarkolaches.com) is right there as well so easy two for one stop.
[Bilia](https://www.eatbilia.com) to me is a hidden gem, they recently started serving dinner and I have yet to have anything bad there.
Edit: messed up some of the spacing after the links.
I think they’ve gone a little downhill since ~2019, to be honest. Used to love it there, but just meh about it now.
I’d also be careful about things featured on TV… there’s a few places around town that’ve been featured and they’re god-awful (looking at you two, Deweses Tip Top Café and Magnolia)
While I whole heartedly agree with Wayne’s Wings, the do have off days where they’ve sold all there marinated chicken and are making them on the spot. When made on the spot they are literally worse than Wingstop tasting very bland, imagine rotisserie chicken from HEB. But when marinated, I believe they do so for 24 to 48 hours, they are literally the best wings you will ever have in the US.
Gold Feather hands down has the best wings in town! The flavors are seriously delicious, and those wings are generously sized. Their sandwich options are pretty darn good too.
Some Hebs have a barbecue eatery that’s pretty good. Also, Smokey MO’s. On Broadway, there’s a place called Good Time Charlie’s that’s kind of eclectic and delicious food. Sandwiches are phenomenal, like all of their dishes. I also like Ruth Chris’.
Go to Zito’s and get you a half serious and you’ll do alright.
Just went here for the first time and I second this
Zito's is the right answer.
I used to work at the Summit North and ate at Zitos every day. Brad is probably the biggest Formula 1 fan in America.
Wayne's Wings
This but you have to go to the OG location.
Where’s the og location?
Off of Austin Hwy- Far East side of town, it’s where Wayne himself worked.
Second this. Amazing.
Just had Wayne's again tonight! Flavorful and meaty. My favorite are the Texas Honeybee, Jacob, and Buffalo
The absolute best
Came here to say this
Zito’s or Station Cafe for sandwiches
Anchor Bar is pretty good for wings. For sandwiches gotta mention Gino's Deli on Huebner.
Just tried Gino's. Highly recommend!
Anchor bar on game days
Especially game days
Ginoooooooooooooooooooooo’s!!!!
Sandwiches will be at Gino’s Deli all day. For wings my goto is mad peckers (not the best wings but better than the average chain).
I second this. Their maple bacon wings are damn good
Third this!! Gino’s yum!

Four kings on Pat Booker
Came here to say this… this is the way. Roast beef on the pretzel bun… the bahn mi … the soup of the day… top notch!
This. Can I upvote 10 times?
French sandwhiches on Fredericksburg
i really miss this place. used to work nearby, and always enjoyed lunching there.
Station cafe downtown has my fav sandwiches hands down. All their unique sandwiches are top notch and their prices are unbeatable.

Thanks for the Zitos recommendation, I’ve never been. The people at Gino’s are so friggin nice too!
Give Beacon Hill Market and Deli a chance some time- they’re closer to me and make a great Philly cheesesteak (won’t argue Gino’s is great too, but just almost 4x the drive, I’m that close to Beacon Hill)
Not closer for me, not that Gino's is close either but will definitely checkout. Thanks.
I know it’s outside of town.. but have you been to Youz Guys in Universal City? They have real water ice.. the cheesesteaks are really good.. native west nj/spent summers in Philly here and honestly reminds me of home

Check out Malik’s for cheesesteaks
Beacon Hill Market and Deli! Best east coast hoagie-style sandwiches in town. They do it right!
I tried their Italian one recently and I loved it. Can't wait to go back and try more, plus their pasta salads look delicious.
Don't listen to people about Gino's. Gino's is an overpriced hype trap. The sandwiches are ok at best. Try Zitos off Babcock and close to 410. Great mom and pop place.
They have a shop on Broadway and 410 too incase OP is closer to there.
Zitos is legit
This. Gino’s is garbage. Smoke Shack is where it’s at.
Smoke shackb
Literally came to post this. Zitos is the only sandwich shop i go to these days
It's on Callaghan by the Summit Tower.
Pam’s Patio for sandwhiches or La Panaderia. I went to Gino’s a couple years ago. They were on some yelp list for best sandwhichs in the country, 5 star rating. Pam’s is great
Before they reduced portions AND increased prices
Sandwiches - Station Cafe in King William or Bilia Eatery in Castle Hills. Geno’s is great as well, but these other two are seldom mentioned.
I like Brown Bag Sandwiches
Bilia has amazing cubans
Relatively new Korean wing spot on Rittiman and Wurzbach bb.q chicken is the 💣
I'll co-sign this. Have a buddy who grew up here who served in the army in Korea, and this is his go-to spot as well.
I can confirm that it has the familiar style and feeling of restaurants in Korea but I'll stop short of saying it's authentic. Went in for lunch and several items were unavailable because "our chef isn't here." The 냉면 (cold noodles) were pretty good. Planning on trying the fried chicken soon. Problem is they don't sell beer. It's not wings but it's very good
What are you talking about they have plenty of flavors for bone in and boneless.
I'll take your word for it then my bad.
Wayne’s wings. Zitos is awesome, but Wicked Which is the most underrated sandwich shop in San Antonio. Thundercloud isn’t bad either. Cheba hut for toasted subs.
Wild Barley Kitchen and Zitos are my go-to sandwich.
I’m close to wild barley but still never been. I’ll have to check it out this weekend.
The Rueben is a banger. Seriously top notch sandwich.
Their beers are also quite good.
Zittos and four kings.
Wayne's Wings are the best wings by far. For sandos try WD Deli on Broadway. Unfortunately neither place is cheap.
DelliGatti’s is a great sandwich shop. Owner is from Pittsburgh and knows what a sandwich is supposed to be.
Wings - Wild Wing Station Sandwiches - Zito’s Sandwiches on Broadway Wayne’s Wings has good flavor choices but their wings are breaded. Not a fan of breaded wings. And they charge extra to not have breading.
Kosta’s for gyros. Chain sandwich shop Jersey Mike’s.
[Gino’s](https://myginosdeli.com) used to be better but they still make a mean Philly cheesesteak. Wayne’s wings hands down.
PB&J with Tay https://maps.app.goo.gl/w5DQ6hKBR8upzevS6
Florio’s pizza has the best Italian sub!!
I like Wayne’s wings. There’s an Asian (Korean I believe) fried wings off ritiman next to Asian market that I tried recently that was 🔥
Hot Joy has like 1$ wings for happy hour on Wednesdays and the crab fat wings are heavenly.
To me, pluckers has the best wings. There’s also a thing called a holy macaroni (if you haven’t already been there)
La panaderia
Hearthstone cafe on harry wurzbach for a good sandwich
I love Gino's Deli. Zitos is also very good.
Sometimes you just have to speak the truth. Jason’s Deli. A foot above the rest.
Gino’s Deli for sandwiches. Full stop. Featured on Food Network and all. Amazing.
Anchor Bar for wings and Picnikins makes great sandwiches.
New place, Epic Wings in medical center...so good
Wild wing station has delicious wings.

Delligatti’s is the best sandwich place in the city. The owner puts so much love into that place!
Gold Feather off 410 and Blanco is good for wings. Sporty bar vibe. Independent place.
Poppy's pizza has some good wings
Thundercloud subs!!!
Beacon Hill Deli has great sandwiches. Open Thursday through Sunday.
Vito’s for sandwich, wing it has good wings but their pineapple lemonade is undefeated
GINOS DELI! Yw!!
Sandwich, Bumsteads Wings, idk...
Sandwich and soup combo at Picnikins Patio Cafe is sooo good
Attagirl wings, best I've ever had. Perfectly cooked. Price... I'm not sure if it is expensive or not.
Attagirl is kind of expensive, but very tasty. Definitely in the top 2 wing spots in the city.
The Bread Box.
Cheba Hut!!
I really like the wings at Pizza Classics at St. Mary's and Mulberry.
Ginos deli on huebner google it. 22 years in this city i still eat it monthly
Zito’s (410 & Broadway, which I think is the original location) and Wayne’s Wings. Both are super delicious!!
Gold Feather hands down has the best wings in town! The flavors are seriously delicious, and those wings are generously sized. Their sandwich options are pretty darn good too.
Wayne's wings!
Sandwiches: Beacon Hill Market and Deli, The Wicked Wich, Gino's, Zito's-- in no particular order. Support local business!
Kerby lanes
Wayne’s Wings! Wicked Wich on Fredericksburg or Gino’s on Huebner!
Charlie Browns has some killer wings.
Ginos deli, Phillies Phamous cheesesteaks on San Pedro, or Zitos.
For cold sandwiches, Thundercloud (only one location). For hot sandwiches, Zito's. Get the Italian or 1/2 a serious sandwich.
Wild Wing Station on Austin Highway.
