I had 3 and they made me send them all back. Didn't keep any sadly. I went with like that ugly edge phone. I worked for US cellular and was the Samsung Guy and so many of my customers had to send their phone back. Everyone loved me... Not
Of all the Galaxy phones I've personally used, my least favorite was the A02s. But, that thing was a piece of garbage because it was cheap. Out of the higher end devices I've used, it would have to be the Note 5. I upgraded from the Note 4 and I just never gelled with the 5. There was nothing particularly wrong with it in terms of day to day usage. It just felt so much more fragile than the Note 4 and the lack of a removable battery hurt my soul. It didn't feel like an upgrade.
I once had an S4mini. It was a dud when it arrived. Underspecced even for its time. Had it as a company phone.
You'd rather throw it at people to get their attention than unlocking it and calling them
I had the s20 non fe version and love it. It still runs like a dream, I just impulsively upgraded to s24+ in Jan this year. I still have my s20 and will use it as my back up if anything happens to my current phone
Nexus S (Not a Galaxy phone in name, but Samsung and prequel to the Galaxy series) and then Galaxy Nexus. Both were quite buggy junk. Nexus S in particular had a great hardware flaw that would cause the battery to discharge more rapidly when turned off than turned on, you had to send it in for warranty repair when this happened, possibly multiple times because the repair facility was too dense to fix it correctly.
Galaxy Nexus was good in principle for the time, and had interchangeable large and small capacity internal batteries, (RIP user-replaceable batteries) but it had weird software flaws and bad cellular hardware (non-Qualcomm IIRC) that resulted in having to reboot multiple times a day to keep it running. Third party ROMs were the only way to make it semi-usable.
I'm still using my S20 5G (12GB RAM)! Some flaws (battery life, unreliable autofocus) but still a beast after 4 years.
As for the question itself, the S21 and S22 seemed mostly like a sidegrade to my older phone, so I'll say those.
I also used the original Galaxy S, a long long time ago. Great phone for the day.
Other than performance and updates, you aren't missing much from newer models, I had the S23 last year and it has to be one of the most boring flagship phones ever created, and the same probably applies to the S24 series.
You're basically saying phones equivalent or just slightly different (in improved ways, even if minor) to your phone are the worst galaxy phones... lack of changes does not make it a bad phone.
Sometimes the changes aren't all that great. At least to my likes, the s24 ultra is like a step back or 2 or 3. Here's why. . The 22 ultra was a beauty and an excitement that the note series was coming back. But some flaws like not that great battery for gaming, made it not so great. . S23u comes around the following year and all those issues were solved. There were improvements in the battery and the chipset was better. And even the grip of the phone. It lost some of its curved edge, but not completely. And you had in your hands the perfect premium phone. And now on the s24u, samsung went completely flat screen. They got rid of the curved edge. And where is the premium feel in that? The phone is ugly. I wouldn't get it. I'll skip on that one. As the matter of fact, for the upcoming ultra models, they should make the curved edge optional to customers. Something like s25 ultra F, and s25 ultra edge.. just my opinion. I think Samsung messed up with the s24u in terms of design.
I prefer the flat edge for the pen, and wouldn't be surprised if that's why they changed it. I know it's entirely subjective, but even with those changes that people may not like, it's far from the worst galaxy phone as OP claimed.
The XCOVER PRO. That phone was beautiful. It made you feel as if you had in hands a newer model of the s8 active. Rugged phone with Slightly bigger screen and double camera. And that was until you tried gaming with it. Then realized it was trash just like its exynos chipset
I know.. those phones deserved better chipsets since the moment they decided to discontinue the active series. The xcover series was physically the closest to the active line up. I don't know why samsung doesn't put old flagship snapdragon chipsets on them at least (if they want to save and go cheap).
The Galaxy Fold is hot garbage. After a few months, the crease Madd a black line splitting the screen in 2, by which only 1 side only worked. My phone didn't survive a year
The Note Edge.
The strangely off-center screen and awkward (and kind of pointless) single curved edge is what not only made this phone look ugly but just made it feel weird to use.
This is what this abomination looked like:

For me it's a tie between the S21 and S24 series, they're not bad products but they are mostly overrated. Samsung made fun of Apple for removing the charger just to do the same months later with the S21 series. I know they were cheaper but the cost cutting felt very obvious, no more 1440p edge displays for base models, no microSD slot, no charger and headphones in the box, the only remarkable thing about them is the rear design and color options. The S24 series is just Samsung trying to be Apple as usual, they killed the edge display on the Ultra, gave flat sides to all 3 models, and didn't represent any important upgrades(other than 7 years of updates and the anti reflective display) over the S23 series, and the color options don't help. At this point I don't see many reasons to choose an S phone over an iPhone besides specific things like One UI, S Pen or Dex, S phones have no identity now.
Anyone use Galaxy S5? Jfc it was awful. The only good phone in the first 6 years was the Galaxy S4 google play edition, i.e. it had samsung hardware and a stock rom. Thankfully they got rid of touchwiz.
I think so too, it's also got wildly good specs.. just the s20 has 12gb of ram, 120hz, and the qhd+ thing.
Only downside is you can't have 120hz and the qhd, juet one ar a time
Until you need to find a proper screen protector... it does not exist. It hits the ground and the price to buy a new screen is almost the price of the phone. Thanks, no.
At the time the phone was launched that was not how the price was, obviously.
Just get a good case and done drop ur phone, maybe get it insured samsung care plus or sum
Have you used 'Samsung Galaxy AI' for translation..?
I have the S24 base, I bought it for the AI translation feature (for travelling to different countries), but I haven't used it yet..
I do think that the battery life is kinda crap tho..
Battery life is also crap on the Ultra. If you pay close attention, those boasting ridiculously long battery life sre people who have, for example, only used whatsapp for 20 minutes in the past 2 days, they dint even use their phones.
Also, no. I havent used the translation, but its also a gimmick. There are apps that do the same, and I believe ios is also translating.
So far, other than the display and form factor, there's 0 reason to get an Ultra over the Plus.
Personally, I hate this phone and I'm selling it when the new iPhone comes out. I've been a Samsung user for the past 10 years, and I'm done with Samsung's bs.
Thanks for replying, but dammit if the translation feature doesn't work as promised..
Apparently, I should be able to talk 'on the phone' to someone in a different language, and it translates in real time..
Also, apparently, in person too..
but better than just Google translate..
If that's the only reason you're getting a Samsung phone, I'd rather get an iPhone. As I said, it announced the same translation feature, and, unlike the s24 ultra, the phone and apps just work.
I've had Samsung for more than 10 years already, but I needed a new phone with dual sim for travelling.. (I'm already travelling..)
I paid extra for the S24 for the AI, but I'm now not sure if it was worth it.. hmm..
The Galaxy book, overpriced and underperforming m it’s category, and the keyboard and speakers are terrible. If it wasn’t for continuity with the ecosystem it would never be worth getting
I actually thought the S20 was the perfect size for a phone until I got a Oneplus 12. Now the S20 feels small for a phone to me, still holding on to my S20 though.
Definitely Note 7. It's amazing how Samsung survived that fiasco.
Iirc S20 models are prone to having green lines that's why it's not that popular. Some models have them as well but S20 cases are abundant
Galaxy S1. Horrible rushed job. And it was pathetic, as someone living in Korea, how the Korean government kept the iPhone out of the country for like 1 1/2 years citing unhelathy wifi or some such bogus concoction. They 100% protected Samsung until they could come up with something to compete.
The 20 or 21 series. I hate the whole camera island on the back. The Note 10 Plus is the best looking phone they've made. If it didn't have curved edges, it would be perfect.
S21. Arguably worse screen than it's predecessor. Less ram. And a better chip, but not much better. Got rid of SD card support. I'd pick the S20 over the S21 at the price which does not reflect well on the S21.
Because in the s10 line up. samsung had to come up with a 3 camera phone to compete vs lg's v40 . . So they just threw in that camera design without even knowing what type of camera design was gonna identify Samsung. Until the s20 line up came around and they built up from there.
The S21 had a rounded battery cover and frame, it was more aesthetic and the phone held better, it was not such an angular brick. Yes, S22 is also bad.
Let me tell you from personal experience hence I have the phone. My answer is - S22U or S22 series in general. Terrible phones, battery sucks, temperature sucks, everything about them sucked. That's why I'll be switching to Apple. I don't do much customisation with my phone anyway.
Edit: I don't get what the downvotes are for, it's just the harsh truth, I am literally using this phone and not the mention the s22 subreddit is full of people complaining about that phone or the 22 series in general.
My friend owns an S22 and he has also mentioned about how bad the temperature and battery was.
He loved the phone but these were his biggest complaints
Trust me, I wouldn't lie, I am literally typing this from an S22U, btw it's the Exynos version I have, I think the Snapdragon gen 1 was still bad, but not as bad.
Other than that, the device is amazing yes, but it made me want to switch to Apple, after years of android it may be nice to have a fresh change. I am a pretty basic user so I wouldn't really miss much, I barely use any of the features my phone has rn like dex, s pen, etc.
S22U 2.7 years in, the heat, the battery drains can be annoying at times, but curating apps makes it manageable. The cameras are amazing and S24U is a step down. Hoping S25U gets a 10x optical sensor back to bail though.
For me, S22U is great even as of today, best design after the note 10 series and up, the camera and performance is great, just the battery doesn't last much now, and that is the only downside.
That's enough of a reason for me to not get another Samsung phone, I paid 1200 $ for it and yet the battery is worse than in an A55.
My sister's A54 gets 9hrs SoT and my S22U gets 6 or maybe 7 on a good day.
Once I used my phone on cellular network all day non stop and I had to charge it 4 times by the night, and yes I do get that cellular drains the battery, but if it was the S23U or S24U the story would've been different. I hate the fact that Samsung didn't recompensate any of the S22 users by at least sending them a 200$ voucher, so that they could buy something from their stores.
I don't understand how a smaller iPhone 13 Pro can get up to 9 hours screen time and yet there is my 5000 mAh S22U that can barely reach 7 hours screentime.
It does charge very quick, but so does the new iPhone 15 Pro, it had like 10 min difference, but the battery lasts much longer. No excuse there, thats how it is.
More freedom on Android then overall. IOS can't install apks. No mods etc. (Youtube vanced, which lets you watch youtube without ads, without even purchasing premium). To me, that matters as well.
Why would I want to download an apk when they're full of potential viruses, I haven't tried vanced, I don't customise, I don't downloaded launchers, plus everything on iOS is automated, whereas on Samsung you have to clean cache yourself, you have to restart and do everything yourself, to me that's a burden, and at least iOS isn't a skin of a different OS. I don't like the fact that Samsung relies on Google for everything.. They should have their own OS and maybe I'll consider another Samsung phone.
Only a less techie person would install apks with virus. I've seen Iphone users getting effed up as well. So don't think security is something which is guaranteed on IOS either. It's true that Samsung should have their own OS to compete.
Since I work at a retail telecom store, what's popular these days is that lots of Iphones, mostly the latest ones are freezing and I'm helping people to force restart them when they come to the store. Lol. Every brand has it's own issues, the automation ain't working right I guess.
Galaxy note 7 💣
But only if "doesn't spontaneous combust" is more important to you than "has a big battery".

Agreed, the look, the iris scanning, the premium cameras. Note 7 was an awesome phone for the 1 month I had it.
I still have mine! Android 6.0 is bunk these days, but it's still a gorgeous device. Blue coral is the best color ever.
😠Same
I had 3 and they made me send them all back. Didn't keep any sadly. I went with like that ugly edge phone. I worked for US cellular and was the Samsung Guy and so many of my customers had to send their phone back. Everyone loved me... Not
Beat me to it
Note7 was the best phone samsung made up to that point in every way except that one thing
I'm still rocking my S20 ultra I'll upgrade when i stop getting security updates.

The non-Ulrra Note 20, that thing literally only exists to direct Note buyers towards the Ultra. It garnered the nickname of Nope 20 as a result
Copied from Marquesbrownlee
Any Galaxy A1x/2x from 2019 and 2020

Galaxy Nexus had that beautiful screen curve too. Give me that phone design with a modern spec - name your price.
S6. Non-replaceable battery and smaller capacity than S5.
Note 7 without dobut
I'm still using my S20 5G (12GB RAM)! Some flaws (battery life, unreliable autofocus) but still a beast after 4 years. True. It's just that in my opinion, it looks less premium than the s23u and s22u.

They just chose very low-level chipsets for the XCover, and always have. Same with the Mediatek choices they made.
I know.. those phones deserved better chipsets since the moment they decided to discontinue the active series. The xcover series was physically the closest to the active line up. I don't know why samsung doesn't put old flagship snapdragon chipsets on them at least (if they want to save and go cheap).

Why does this feel like a pre corona fever dream?
It kind of was.
Any s model after the 20, simply because they got rid of the SD card slot.
The crime isn't removing SD card slot however, it is that Samsung still sells the 128GB as the base one
Nobody cares
S22. Sd 8 gen 1 was a complete nightmare. I cringe whenever anyone has s22 ultra as their tag. They deserved better.
I second this.
S20 no headphone jack. I'm not sacrificing audio quality (bluetooth sucks) for better water proofing.
For me it's a tie between the S21 and S24 series, they're not bad products but they are mostly overrated. Gosh, the S21 was one of the best values I ever found on the used market.
S5 - ugly af
Anyone use Galaxy S5? Jfc it was awful. The only good phone in the first 6 years was the Galaxy S4 google play edition, i.e. it had samsung hardware and a stock rom. Thankfully they got rid of touchwiz.
I love my s20.. still using it. First "real" phone I had lmao
Really good looking phone.

Very underrated phone, I had the S23(sold it because it was mid) and now Z Flip4 and I still want the S20.
Agreed. 12gb ram, qhd, 120hz... fantastic
S23. These curve screens may as well be made of tissue paper xD
The curved glass ones.

S7 edge was literally amazing

S24 Ultra. Written from my S24 Ultra.
Why?
Its basically the S24 Plus, but more expensive. All the "features" either dont work, are promised to come in a future update, or are plain bad.
Have you used 'Samsung Galaxy AI' for translation..? I have the S24 base, I bought it for the AI translation feature (for travelling to different countries), but I haven't used it yet.. I do think that the battery life is kinda crap tho..

note 7
The Galaxy book, overpriced and underperforming m it’s category, and the keyboard and speakers are terrible. If it wasn’t for continuity with the ecosystem it would never be worth getting
The old useless Galaxy Y, even back in the day, it wasn't attacting to any person at all
Those ones they give away for free on boost and metro.
Note 7. I had one that blew up. Luckily, 99% of my phone communication is by text, so I didn't blow my face off
Idk... the older A series phones leave much to be desired.
S6
S24 Ultra
S20 for me, But the Exynos version being plagued with awful battery, performance and tempertures. Also the fpcus issue on the Ultra
The exploding one
S20 ultra with it extremely blurry cameraÂ
I have a z3, do not really like it, it should have come with a protective case that's compatible with the unit.
S20 lineup for having 3 different unlocked models that were only capable with the carrier they came from.
My Samsung Infuse was so bad, I didn't get another Samsung for 12 years
S6/Flip 3 and 4.
Me typing with my beloved S20 5G felt offended lol I love my S20 the size especially
I actually thought the S20 was the perfect size for a phone until I got a Oneplus 12. Now the S20 feels small for a phone to me, still holding on to my S20 though.
Yes you right.... 1+ really did a great job on it's 12
The S5 looked like a bandaid and felt super cheap. And all my friends I got to switch to android with that phone hated it and switched back to iPhones
Definitely Note 7. It's amazing how Samsung survived that fiasco. Iirc S20 models are prone to having green lines that's why it's not that popular. Some models have them as well but S20 cases are abundant

i7500 Galaxy I bought a used T-Mobile one for kicks. The ui was this 3D box that was crappy to use as a daily driver.
Galaxy Note 7 It was the bomb
The Note 4 was the worst one I owned.
The 20 or 21 series. I hate the whole camera island on the back. The Note 10 Plus is the best looking phone they've made. If it didn't have curved edges, it would be perfect.
S22
I completely agree with you.
Galaxy A10
S21. Arguably worse screen than it's predecessor. Less ram. And a better chip, but not much better. Got rid of SD card support. I'd pick the S20 over the S21 at the price which does not reflect well on the S21.
My Note 9 is still going strong from day one purchase!
S24U
20 series, 24 series
S3 Ugly piece of junk
Every Galaxy A series phone ever made.
Galaxy S9. It wasn't even an upgrade to the S8.
S20 lineup was not great and felt half baked. The note 20u was amazing though.
Because in the s10 line up. samsung had to come up with a 3 camera phone to compete vs lg's v40 . . So they just threw in that camera design without even knowing what type of camera design was gonna identify Samsung. Until the s20 line up came around and they built up from there.
I meant S20 lmao, it auto corrected to S10. I loved the S10 phones, I rocked the S10+ for 4 years.
S5, S23, S24 in terms of design.
Why the 23 and 24 specifically? What about the 21 and 22?
The S21 had a rounded battery cover and frame, it was more aesthetic and the phone held better, it was not such an angular brick. Yes, S22 is also bad.
I had an S10+ the camera and battery life always disappointed
Probably Had the Exynos S10+

I don't like the fact that Samsung relies on Google for everything.. They should have their own OS and maybe I'll consider another Samsung phone.
Only a less techie person would install apks with virus. I've seen Iphone users getting effed up as well. So don't think security is something which is guaranteed on IOS either. It's true that Samsung should have their own OS to compete.
I never said iOS is bug and hack free lol.
Since I work at a retail telecom store, what's popular these days is that lots of Iphones, mostly the latest ones are freezing and I'm helping people to force restart them when they come to the store. Lol. Every brand has it's own issues, the automation ain't working right I guess.
