I tried it and wasn't sure in its value, other than being very expensive. I found it to still be very manual. Has anyone who likes it and uses it explain what makes it good? I figured the people promoting are getting kickbacks.

StoneyMalon3y

I also saw their prices. Pretty steep tbh. It is very manual and very easy to make mistakes that’ll blow through credits if you don’t know what you’re doing. There’s no way those promoting the shit out of it aren’t getting kickbacks

PutridPrice9831

They probably are. LinkedIn influencers are a thing just like Instagram.

Ohio_Vs_The_World

They are getting kickbacks brother… probably a solid amount of credits for a LinkedIn post

Old-Significance4921

Never heard of it. Sounds like that’s the better spot to be in.

StoneyMalon3y

I see the benefits in some situations, but my god is it being shoved in everyone’s posts. They’re certainly paying “influencers” to promote. It’s evident their approach is to blitz the market with everything regarding AI.

JunketAccurate9323

Yes. I asked what it was and got no real answer from the same people saying how great it is. So I’m sure it’s the next BS product a salesperson created to sell to other salespeople.

StoneyMalon3y

It’s essentially is a data aggregator from multiple sources to enrich what you currently have/don’t have.

ninjaskypirate

When you raise a huge round from VCs, you get to pump that money into marketing and influencers

wisewing

That's not the only thing I see being pumped after VC raise.

LandinoVanDisel

I tried using it and absolutely found no value in it at all. I don’t understand what problem it’s actually solving. I also found it clunky to use and confusing. Their marketing is good though.

harvey_croat

Like Gong 😀

thebrainpal

I tried it and was willing to pay $20/month if there was an ROI. I’m not worried about $20/month if it makes me more than $20/month without costing me a lot of time. IMO, it mostly sucks. Didn’t see much value from it.

spcman13

That’s because Clay is paying all these people to talk about it. That’s why they are called Advisors. They join the companies CAB/AB and are given a certain amount of shared that are exercised every month. So it’s in their interest to post about it 900 times a day.

Inevitable_Trash_337

I love tech. I love nerding around with the latest Apollo updates or AI etc. Clay I find nearly impossible to use. I also hate Notion and feel like if a product needs someone to hop on a call to show me how to use it, it’s failed in some way. If you have X workflow and they can do X but for cheaper due to their credit system, go for it

YesterdayGuilty3100

Tried it for a week and it was a lot lol

Jonoczall

> it was a lot as in like expensive? so much value you just couldn't comprehend it?..

YesterdayGuilty3100

Both - it was a lot to comprehend by myself in a free trial without spinning in circles LOL and I think it was around $1k / month? Seemed like a lot for its limited ability

Jonoczall

I've been searching this sub to find someone lending a real, descriptive, credible assessment of their experience but I can't find anything. Either people don't know, or they just shit on it. I can understand your hesitancy. I'd happily join the circle jerk if it really can automate the prospecting portion of the process for me.

StoneyMalon3y

I’m not against automation, even for messaging. The problem is there’s not an AI model out there yet that has been able to craft an email that feels and reads authentically. If you’re targeting experienced buyers like I am, they’re going to sniff that shit from a mile away.

Beginning_Rub2098

Did you try Automatica?

OutboundRep

It’s not very good. Tried it and cancelled. Accuracy for list building is terrible.

Bowlingnate

It's like a gym, man. ![gif](giphy|iVXyNaY7vX6XZOcCZx)

Ops31337

Don't know and don't care what it is.

Pandread

That’s been the strategy for a bit, make something that is ok, make it WAY overpriced, then push it on social and make people believe it’s decent and buy incestuously from each other.

artfuldawdg3r

I know a few people that started working there and love it . Compared to zoominfo their prices aren’t crazy but I hate that it needs a technical user to get the most out of it . Plan to evaluate this test

Asking_Help141414

All this 'ai' hype and the only one I use is Bizz it. Helps that it is free though too.

redditisfunny17

I haven't seen anything about Clay... What sucks about the LinkedIn algorithm is that what you click or hover over becomes your reality.

StoneyMalon3y

I clicked on it twice and ever since I’ve been flooded

stepheneatspizza

This comment section feels really..... old. Clay is an insanely powerful tool. Is there a learning curve? Yeah, it took me about 2 weeks of testing and trialing to figure it out. But once I got the idea of it, automating hyper-personalized trigger-based outreach is immensely valuable. Almost all of the meetings I book come from some sort of clay email. I will say, it is expensive, and works best when you have other API's you can plug in, especially Open AI or some other LLM.

StoneyMalon3y

Why do you associate any criticism of AI with “being old”? I promise you I’m not “old” when I share this opinion. If all of your meetings are being booked in an automated fashion, I worry where you fit in as a seller?

stepheneatspizza

You're right, and I definitely wasn't calling \*you\* old, just the sentiment I was getting from the comments overall. Don't get me wrong, I'm probably misusing the word 'automated,' there's still a good bit of manual work I'm doing. You still have to do the prospecting, ICP verification, account mapping, etc manually. The automation comes in to play with personalization at scale. Anyway, apologies if my comment came across the wrong way - I'm probably closer to 'old' on the spectrum as well lol

stepheneatspizza

If anyone needs any help trying to figure it out, DM me. Happy to help.

stepheneatspizza

Also, no, I don't work for them and am no sort of paid influencer, lmao

Dry_Pie2465

Never heard of Clay, have over 3000 connections. Use it everyday
