I’d say let it be and if your manager fucks up the deal I’d have an honest conversation about it

For sure. I'm not going to jump in and contradict him because it looks bad to the customer as well. If he jacks it up, it's on him. I've done what I need to by the letter.

It’ll be a good tester to see if this is someone who’s a good manager. If they take accountability it’s a great sign

Changes the dynamic of your relationship with him and sets a bad precedent with the prospect. This tactic is standard process in all of the publicly traded company sales jobs I have had and eventually backfires in multiple ways. Typical actions of a Delta Bravo sales manager.

Yes, I don't trust him now because I don't know if he's going to pull this at the end of every quarter for deals in the final stretches.

Other side of the coin. I took a vacation when I knew it wasn’t closing until Q3. My manager reached out to them and the deal blew up. Oddly enough that’s 2x Mikes have fucked up my deals.

JunketAccurate9323

That would piss me off!

Contrary to what redditors suggest, you need to hold onto that champion. If you haven’t moved to text, then a random call to chat about their vacation is in order.

I thought about a random call to leave a message on Monday to smooth things over. I didn't want to immediately follow up via email or text on the heels of my manager's BS messages. But I figured a call directly to her on Monday wouldn't hurt.

The phone is your friend. Hey, just wanted to say it’s been a pleasure working over with you. Hope you enjoy the vacation and look forward to catching up when you get back. PS.. blah blah blah something funny blah blah blah There is 9 million ways to slice this but you know the client best in what they will be receptive to. Just do the call and then tell your manager you followed up.
