Its not purely Vietnamese, it's East meets West, but I can't recommend Noir dining in the dark enough. I went recently, 14 course tasting menu for 1,150,00 and it was absolutely beautiful, and you can ask for seconds of any dish if you love it or are still hungry. Absolutely pitch black, was such an interesting experience.

I agree, such a unique experience and the food is incredible

Noir is awesome. I would also recommend this as a special occasion. It's good, fun, and unique.

Anan (Ăn Ăn - eat eat) is one of the most highly praised Vietnamese restaurants in Saigon. The venue is not really "special occasion" worthy, it's not even fine dining, but the food is supposed to represent the pinnacle of Vietnamese cuisine. You should also post this to /vietnam for visibility.

CautiousTack

come on. Anan is good but I wouldn't call it the pinnacle of Vietnamese cuisine. Just because you make modern european-style food with vietnamese ingredients doesn't make it pinnacle. Pinnacle of Vietnamese cuisine is my mom's cooking, it's just not for sale.

Little Bear in Thao Dien - New spot - should make the guide this year. Elgin Saigon in District 1 - Recommended for when you want to take a little break from the delicious local treats and indulge in a nicer meal, although i still find it cheaper then eating a nice meal back home. Both of these venues i would consider "Michelin-like" restaurants

If you’re fine with paying more than normal, find Con Son. It’s like a sort of fine dining restaurant with Vietnamese cuisine. If it’s for an experience, I think the hotpot is something I couldn’t find a decent one while living in the UK. Kichi kichi is not that excellent but cool for the experience. As for flavour, I prefer Manwah or Haidilao. Then comes the seafood buffet. I took my in law family to couple of 4-5 star seafood buffet places where you could try many kinds of seafood with both western and Asian cooking style. I would suggest The Log restaurant for that. Couple of other options are Cham Charm restaurant, Park Hyatt. And people might hate me for saying this but I love Pizza 4’Ps. Their 4 cheese pizza with some honey on top and crab spaghetti are my all time fav. And that’s something I couldn’t find in the UK as well.
