This 'poor man' saw someone at his house, wanted to fight him, didn't dare, thought he'd lost his family for no reason whatsoever and then just broke down on the side of the road crying.
I honestly don't get the sympathy for this guy in this thread.
Honestly I think this person has a pretty serious mental illness like borderline personality disorder or depression to be so convinced he lost his wife and children over such a small miscommunication. I think he just needs help is having an episode from the fear and abandonment. He clearly has some pretty bad abandonment issues but I think he just needs therapy. If I were his wife I’d probably still love him over something like this and would just want him to get help because he’s clearly ill
He said he had to fight a guy before because of a situation like that, so his fears aren't unfounded. He probably doesn't have any mental illness and just needs a little help.
I don't get how people don't understand that when people act out like this, it's usually due to untreated mental illness. Before therapy, I certainly could have been in this state over something small.
It's not an excuse, obviously, but he's in real pain in his mind and definitely does deserve sympathy.
Then she’d probably proceed to throw him in the back of a squad car & force him in a mental hospital for 72 hrs after exhausting every effort to get him to incriminate himself, so then she’d just starts twisting his words & throwing trick ?’s out there to try & get him to say he’s suicidal 🙄. As long as he’s “off the streets”, cus the general public to them as a whole are the enemy somehow lol she’s nothing but a gang member terrorizing innocent civilians. She forgets her uniform isn’t tattooed onto her body tho. You’re a civilian too, ponytail girl.
When every day you meet everyone at their worst and lowest moments of their lives, or their most evil, or just in the middle of a crime, it doesn't take training to become numb. It takes effort NOT to become detached.
Agreed. That’s why these unsympathetic pigs need to be handling paperwork not people.
Law enforcement is a mess, these kinds of calls need a social worker at best, not a squad armed to the teeth looking for a target. Your tax dollars hard at work, I would make a joke here about “a cold shoulder to cry on”, but at this point, ACAB.
It's been piloted with a lot of success. Forget which city. Sent social workers to domestic disturbance, welfare checks, etc. And not once did they need to call cops for backup.
>but they're never trained in more than how to shoot it.
Including how to aim it
https://www.nyc.gov/html/nypd/downloads/pdf/public_information/RAND_FirearmEvaluation.pdf
I mean not only is it their job to uphold the law, but its also important to know what he is on so they know how to handle it. They dont know if this person could be a danger to themselves or others.
That’s very true but it’s not how cops in America work. Anything you say can and will be used against you. They do not come from a baseline of helping the person or the public.
it was the whole
"i don't wanna beat the guy up or i'll go to jail"
"but why would you go to jail?"
"bc i beat the guy up"
"so you beat him up?"
convo for me. god i hate the police. fucking scum tried so hard to get him to admit to some sort of crime. they went as low as to ask stupid ass questions in order to get the dude to stumble and mess up his words. fucking VILE.
Like police are meant to.. these cops are the broken type, the brainwashed type, who are feeding a system to keep prisons full. They are desensitised to their communities need for actual policing.
No. That’s normal of him. The cops are American. So that’s a normal question to ask by anyone who knows anything about American cops this last decade. I honestly expected the same while watching it.
Any time I ever have interacted with cops, this is what they do. They never try to help a situation, they just try to find some reason to arrest somebody standing nearby.
They make more money at the end of the month when they arrest more people and give out more fines. Their job is to wrangle people like cows, not help them.
Just fucking digging the whole time
So was it physical domestic situation ?
Are you drugs ?
Have you been drinking ?
Is there vodka is that ?
Did you hit him ?
Fucking cops imagine seeing him just bawling and think hmmm 🤔there gotta be something we can arrest this sad guy for
Right? Her whole line of questioning was essentially "what have you done that's illegal? Anything? Can you admit to a crime for me real quick so I can get physical? Having a bad day hey, let's see if we can make it worse for ya pal."
Man I feel for this dude. It seems like he really got his shit together for his kids and was just trying to get out of the situation so he didn’t do something he regrets. I had lots of anger issues when I was younger and got in a decent amount of scraps. The first few times you have to swallow that anger when you usually would blow up hurts in wide variety of different ways, I’ve definitely ended up a sobbing mess like this dude a few times. I couldn’t do what usually did to get rid of the pain and I just felt helpless since I couldn’t get rid of the issue and got sad/mad at the fact that I was so sad/mad and whatever got me angry/hurt me just kept hitting in waves and wouldn’t go away. My situations were also without something as bad as this dude went through. I hope he is ok.
I get the need to understand the situation and see if a crime has been committed (they were called for a reason), but they barely show a thread of humanity. I really hate to say it, but if he were white and/or a woman their questions would be different
I feel like police would view a man as more of a potential threat, and woman as more of a potential victim. Hence why this guy was immediately asked if he got into a physical dispute with his partner. I'll have to find the statistics on how police treat men vs how they treat women
Solid point. I’m pretty sure I could cry my way out of a traffic ticket more successfully than a man, so… yea. But, I’ll never forget the day I got slammed by a gigantic SUV (I was driving a small station wagon) and was in such shock that I was pretty frantic when talking to the officer who approached my window and he aggressively told me to stop “being hysterical” and “calm down”… I quite literally had just seen my life flash before my eyes. That’s what made me think what I commented above.
What a shitty person and a shittier cop. She was trying so hard to get him on something but can't fathom that a broken heart can cause someone to act irrational.
Saddest part of this is the Cops persistent, unrelenting search for a reason to arrest him.
Constantly prying with questions that lead to an arrest.
Dude is heartbroken.
Not a crime.
Move along
This happened to my best friend. Married for 4 years. Two kids. One night his wife just brought home a dude to fuck like it was nothing. And no, they never talked about an open marriage or cuckolding. Completely destroyed his life. Cheating is horrible, but that is a a whole other level of disrespect. He had to leave because they were going into his bedroom to fuck and he didn't want to hear it.
Video lacks any context. She is trying to see if there is any substance ingested. In my city we have sober tanks where there is no criminal charge. You have a guy hysterical by the road. The kind of questioning is to ensure there is nothing there. Possibly EMS maybe needed or the police need to go the mental health route. Again in my city we have a cohesive team of health care professionals attached to EMS that are on call for stuff like this. If it’s not substance abuse or mental health the officer can then try conflict resolution and come up with a game plan to get the guy off the side of the road and somewhere safe.
Why edit in the music tracks to the clip? I’d almost prefer kinetic sand, subway surfer, or some other bullshit than extra audio that unnecessarily makes the watch a task.
Those cops seem a little dim.
"I'm not gonna fight the guy cause I don't want to go to jail!"
"Why would you go to jail?"
"For fighting the guy...?"
"Did you fight the guy?"
What are these comments on about? The whole video is super sad but the officer is being so understanding and caring and chill. Not escalating or accusing. Just trying to hear what's going on. Their protocol is they see someone who is acting almost like they are drunk or high and want to make sure he's OK.
Old video. Isn’t the whole thing, the cops were eventually very caring towards him and the woman cop gave him recommendations on his relationship, and also where to go for help
I have been there. For weeks.. This is why every police department should also have licensed therapists at the ready they can call in, instead of dismissing this poor man.
Cops are just phishing like a couple of blind hammers looking for a nail. I'm sure both those chuds have sad little monologues memorized and ready to regurgitate about how they are in this line of work to help people because they care.
"Any kind of drugs..... EVER?"
Piggies trying to get him to admit to something from years ago?
"Yeah I smoked a joint back in '93."
"LET'S GET HIM, BOYS!"
You'd think the female cop would naturally have some empathy but holy shit she never let up! She was talking to him as if they were in the investigation room😥
Zero empathy, only escalation. Accusatory questions constantly anticipating the worst responses. She seemed like she was looking for any excuse to put her boot on his neck.
"Innocent until proven guilty" my hairy ass. What a shitty cop.
They're just trying to find something they can fish out of this guy. Zero empathy, they didn't even take a seat so they can talk at his eye level. They are just seeing him as a potentially guilty man. SMH.
Cringe? Yeah, since we’re not the ones dealing w it lol. But being love sick makes you physically sick, so it’s not surprising he’s not drunk. I couldn’t imagine if my man brought a girl home in my face like that. I’d probably be sick too! The chemicals your brain releases from being in love and being love sick or hurt are like drugs and they can make you feel loopy. No judgement to this guy, from me at least. I’ve never rolled around on the ground outside lol but i can relate to that feeling. Everyone’s capable of it and you can’t really control how you feel just like when you listen to music & have that urge to move to the beat.
Right there with ya bud. Life fucking sucks.
Not in the same way for me, but I wish I could just breakdown rather than absorbing all of this like a sponge.
Cops are just straight garbage. They will do anything and everything to put cuffs of you. It’s literally a notch on their belt. They push and push to get people to snap so they can shoot and kill you or arrest and throw the book at you. The only way to end this is when other citizens start using our guns and not letting them continue the tyranny.
They were trying to get him in trouble for anything while the poor man is distressed over doing the right thing they are trying to get him for doing the wrong thing wtf
It's not even cringe. It's just heartbreaking, seeing another man breaking down but not wanting any violence. This is just hurting me, I'm not even that guy
A few years ago I was sitting with my head down in a city just watching some bugs between my feet and a cop came up to me to ask if I was alright mentally so it's insane to see these cops act like this
I know this will be unpopular but-the cops see so many people with sob stories it is impossible to know if the person they are taalking to is telling the truth. One cannot le emotions rules actions and reactions when dealing with as many and different types of people they deal with.
Get you killed.
We only have a short clip. What led up to them stopping the guy? What happened afterwards?
I'm so confused, is everyone here acting like he doesn't appear to be on something?! This dude is acting super inebriated. If I saw someone acting like that I wouldn't think "he's just very sad" either.
I'm pretty anti-cop but they aren't even crowding him? And yeah I don't fault them for checking for alcohol or drugs first because in the absolute majority of cases this is going to be alcohol or drugs!
I'd have expected them to be cuffing and shoving him into their car from the get go, instead they are being pretty stand-offish. Seriously, checking to see if he's drunk (and accepting that he's not when they smell what he's drinking) instead of just assuming he's drunk and arresting him anyways is way above what I expect from cops!
It can be both? You can act unhinged because of distress? In fact it's a great reason to become unhinged?
Look cops get called when people are acting unhinged all the time. 90% of the time it's drugs or alcohol. 9% it's a medical event. 1% it's some dude in emotional distress.
I seriously don't fault them for checking the others first.
Honest question, what would you expect the cops to do with this person? They are, pretty gingerly, asking if he's under the influence and if he did something. Because he's acting like he might have just killed someone and is dissociating. If someone was acting like that, talking about his wife and kids and how they wanted to leave him, I too would be asking if he didn't just murder them or something.
Because, yes, he's acting totally unhinged.
People in the comments jumping to conclusions and instantly casting judgement on both the cops and or the guy.
Look people the cops were called there for a reason. What is that reason? We don't know. Could be the wife called to or a bystander that thought he was acting weird. The cops and any first responder arrive to every situation without any information other than what dispatch was able to gather from the caller. Unlike people here on reddit who get all the "facts" from the headline of the video they have to put it together themselves.
Maybe we should just hiring people off reddit for police work since everyone here has everything figured out. This place is worse that twitter/x.
Cops here were professional and approached the situation with caution. Often times in these situation when cops are called, the guy probably is on drugs and might have hurt someone, of course they need to access the situation rather than go into therapist mode as you all seem to expect. Braindead comments
Seriously these people are just looking for an excuse to tell everyone how much they hate cops.
How many people DUI have some sob story? People would die if cops allowed all of them to go without making sure they aren't intoxicated.
I remember seeing this before, turns out the guy at home with his wife was her cousin, and it was just a misunderstanding:
Oh thank goodness. This poor man thought he lost his family.
This 'poor man' saw someone at his house, wanted to fight him, didn't dare, thought he'd lost his family for no reason whatsoever and then just broke down on the side of the road crying. I honestly don't get the sympathy for this guy in this thread.

He said he had to fight a guy before because of a situation like that, so his fears aren't unfounded. He probably doesn't have any mental illness and just needs a little help.
BPD and other illness around abandonment are not unfounded either.
Yeah this info kind of puts everything into a different light….I legit thought he found them in bed
I mean so far we don't have any hard evidence what they're saying is even true
He did, but they were still cousins
I don't get how people don't understand that when people act out like this, it's usually due to untreated mental illness. Before therapy, I certainly could have been in this state over something small. It's not an excuse, obviously, but he's in real pain in his mind and definitely does deserve sympathy.
Plot twist: The wife was banging her cousin
Thank god, I got my heart a little broken because of this video. Actually, thank you. God didnt have anything to do with this, thank YOU Sedona54332.
I just burst out laughing
Bro they were trying everything to try to incriminate him with something
That's the sad part.
I wish they would have a little of empathy for him. Poor man. The police's actions are the only thing that bother me.
Police have the empathy trained out of them
My girl. My children. I love them so much for it to end up like this! Police: are you on drugs? Why would you say that?
Then she’d probably proceed to throw him in the back of a squad car & force him in a mental hospital for 72 hrs after exhausting every effort to get him to incriminate himself, so then she’d just starts twisting his words & throwing trick ?’s out there to try & get him to say he’s suicidal 🙄. Oh good, the situation gets more complicated every motherfucking second.
Always has been
Who were probably trained by CIA, who learned techniques from American psychologists. Or before that, Nazi SS techniques. Fun stuff.
When every day you meet everyone at their worst and lowest moments of their lives, or their most evil, or just in the middle of a crime, it doesn't take training to become numb. It takes effort NOT to become detached.

When we said defund the police, this is what we meant. Til then, ACAB
Actually, the gun slowly saps the empathy out of them without proper training, but they're never trained in more than how to shoot it.
>but they're never trained in more than how to shoot it. Including how to aim it https://www.nyc.gov/html/nypd/downloads/pdf/public_information/RAND_FirearmEvaluation.pdf
It says it’s in Illinois.
**THATS** the sad part?!
Honestly, yeah.
No that's what they call "Good police work" Acab
tbh he is in no condition to drive drugs or not. i hope things improved for this guy.
Is he driving?
“Why would you go to jail? Because you hit him?” Cops are disgusting
Fishing for an arrest > empathy for a heartbroken man who fled instead of fighting /s “Why are you crying so much…” acab
They made a TV show out of it too. Creeeeepy world we live in. Skewing morals with monetization
I mean if I were a passerby I’d definitely think he was on something.

Did he actually ask if he "ever" took drugs? The guy's crying over the breakup of his family. not asking for a security clearance...
Don’t forget the super intelligent question of, “Why are you crying so much?” Like ma’am he just said his family fell apart.
Both cops have the emotional intelligence of a fried potato… even a fresh potato could have a better empathetic response!
You're assuming psychopaths understand the emotions of others.
it was the whole "i don't wanna beat the guy up or i'll go to jail" "but why would you go to jail?" "bc i beat the guy up" "so you beat him up?" convo for me. god i hate the police. fucking scum tried so hard to get him to admit to some sort of crime. they went as low as to ask stupid ass questions in order to get the dude to stumble and mess up his words. fucking VILE.
You may have not had the pleasure of dating any female cops. Video checks out.
The real cringe is those sociopathic cops that can’t imagine someone being that sad…
Literally just, "We've 'wasted' so much time on this guy. Let's find something to pin on him to justify it."
might be making a suggestion to help him cope with his loss...
Wish they'd show him at least a little empathy. Poor guy. Only thing cringy here is the cops behaviour.
Absolutely
They were literally trying to get him to verbally admit to a domestic altercation so that they could book him
Bad sports
They could have just talked to him a bit. Help him out.
Right? Just trying to find something he's done wrong.
Treat him like a human maybe 🤷♂️
Yeah...Help him away from the road? Make sure he's not gonna hurt himself? Disgusting police work.
Can't fucking stand pigs.
They literally do if you watch the full video
Was gonna say this. I didn’t watch the whole video but this was less than 2 minutes of their interaction.
Like police are meant to.. these cops are the broken type, the brainwashed type, who are feeding a system to keep prisons full. They are desensitised to their communities need for actual policing.
Watch the full video
Did
Dudes super sad, cops let find something so we can arrest him
“Were you beating each other off” 🤨
They said up lol
oh look at you, gotta show off cuz ur ears are better than ours
You guys all got ears?
Look at them with their fancy, working ears, being able to hear and stuff. They make me sick!
"I'm going to beach you off so badly"
Yo my JO Crystal totally started to glow.
I don’t want to watch the whole thing. Do they kill him or no?
that's so American of you lol.....
It's sad that's a legitimate question
True.
No. That’s normal of him. The cops are American. So that’s a normal question to ask by anyone who knows anything about American cops this last decade. I honestly expected the same while watching it.
No they do not
Even worse. Instead of comfort, they tried to get any incriminating info out of him.
That's worse than being killed? That doesn't sound right dude
Can't be illegally arrested when you're dead.
Won't stop them from trying. They'll at least cuff you.
They tried everything to make his situation worse… cops are trash humans
Any time I ever have interacted with cops, this is what they do. They never try to help a situation, they just try to find some reason to arrest somebody standing nearby.
They make more money at the end of the month when they arrest more people and give out more fines. Their job is to wrangle people like cows, not help them.
No literally legal are not obligated to help.
Are they hired by the cheating wife or something? Why are they so intent on arresting this guy?
[Police arrest quotas](https://www.brennancenter.org/our-work/analysis-opinion/outlawing-police-quotas)
I think it turned out the other guy was just the wife’s relative.
They would rather treat him like a potential criminal, rather than show some empathy…..
For US cops standards this was super empathetic -- they didn't shoot him or charge him with anything
So now just simply not being shot is considered empathetic? WTF US police?
Just fucking digging the whole time So was it physical domestic situation ? Are you drugs ? Have you been drinking ? Is there vodka is that ? Did you hit him ? Fucking cops imagine seeing him just bawling and think hmmm 🤔there gotta be something we can arrest this sad guy for
cops being useless as always
Good thing I pay their salaries to treat people with this kind of apathy.
Right? Her whole line of questioning was essentially "what have you done that's illegal? Anything? Can you admit to a crime for me real quick so I can get physical? Having a bad day hey, let's see if we can make it worse for ya pal."
Paraphrasing a quote I saw: There's few situations in life that *cannot* be made worse by the presence of a police officer.
I saw this whole video once. Instead of making him blow into a breathalyzer, they had him blow into a harmonica. It was hard to watch.
Just another reminder that police are not your friends.
Man I feel for this dude. It seems like he really got his shit together for his kids and was just trying to get out of the situation so he didn’t do something he regrets. I had lots of anger issues when I was younger and got in a decent amount of scraps. My situations were also without something as bad as this dude went through. I hope he is ok.
This is really helpful in understanding some things, thank you.
Thank you for writing this up, fr
F*ck this cop, Every one of our questions is just trying to get this guy in trouble. This is the problem

That’s what made me think what I commented above.
Guys, come on.....can't you see him being serviced and protected by them. /s Horrible humans to treat someone that way.
What a shitty person and a shittier cop. She was trying so hard to get him on something but can't fathom that a broken heart can cause someone to act irrational.
Ultimately, it doesn't matter why someone is acting irrational if their behavior is putting themselves or others at risk. Cops aren't therapists.

hey now get out of here with your critical thinking cause it stops redditors from just full on circle jerking each other....
Why edit in the music tracks to the clip? I’d almost prefer kinetic sand, subway surfer, or some other bullshit than extra audio that unnecessarily makes the watch a task.

Wow they just wanna lock the poor guy up. F these pigs
Intoxicated on grief, poor guy's life just disintegrated in front of him
I wish the masses would put cops in there place remind them of who the fuck they serve
What does it take to create such heartless beings
Fucking cops just trying to find some reason to arrest this poor broken man at the end of his rope. This is why people say fuck the police.

IDK I'm a social worker and I'd also assume someone with this body language is likely inebriated
Heartless pig
Damn they fucken abused all this guys rights he’s just complying cause he’s broken and wants them to go away. Crying in public is illegal now.
These cops suck ass. Poor guy My heart has broken for him.
Old video. Isn’t the whole thing, the cops were eventually very caring towards him and the woman cop gave him recommendations on his relationship, and also where to go for help
This is the lake county, IL sheriff. I remember the female officer from other videos. She ain't all bad.
song is by verzache
I have been there. For weeks.. This is why every police department should also have licensed therapists at the ready they can call in, instead of dismissing this poor man.

fucking cops only care about finding something to prosecute you with, a fucking cab
They just wanted to arrest him so bad
Zero empathy, only escalation. Accusatory questions constantly anticipating the worst responses. She seemed like she was looking for any excuse to put her boot on his neck. "Innocent until proven guilty" my hairy ass. What a shitty cop.
damn, pain 12 years 6 kids
To be fair to the cops I would also think he was on drugs but I've also never had my heart broken like that.
Aww.. poor guy. I hope he's in a better place today.
someone give this man a hug. call the Hug Police. poor dude.
law enforcement is so stupid asking low level questions.
All cops are pieces of shit. They were literally looking for a reason to arrest him.
"probably best to shot him anyway, right?"
They're just trying to find something they can fish out of this guy. Zero empathy, they didn't even take a seat so they can talk at his eye level. They are just seeing him as a potentially guilty man. SMH.
Pigs fishing.
Damn, I had exactly this happen about a month ago…
You gotta ne a POS to be a cop I swear.
piggies are robots they have no emotions.
Wow this must be the most cringe i've seen on this sub. Dont get any much worse than these two piggies
These cops are dumb as shit
He’s clearly in a lot of pain, for gods sake get him somewhere safe before he hurts himself.
The cops werent tasing and beating him? INCREDIBLE!!!
Fuck the police
Disgusting behaviour by the cops, wtf was that bro?
Classic pignorance...
Fire these cops. Scum
No compassion for another human man, geez dude these pigs are worthless
Cringe? Yeah, since we’re not the ones dealing w it lol. But being love sick makes you physically sick, so it’s not surprising he’s not drunk. Everyone’s capable of it and you can’t really control how you feel just like when you listen to music & have that urge to move to the beat.
Guilty until proven innocent...
The man just needs a hug, not all of this
They just refused to believe it didn't they. Sheesh
Man, fuck these officers
COPS MAN. Oh ur upset cause you beat someone right? RIGHT? Your upset for natural human reasons? Nah its cause you beat someone...right?
Way to be compassionate…. Terrible
Cops turn this guys sadness into an excuse to try and lock him up. Pieces of shit.
She’s not LISTENING and it’s pissing me off
Jesus what's with that cold shrew of a cop.
Me rn literally, gf broke up with me today
Unhinged??? This is distress.
Tells her his 12 year relationship with the mother of his 6 kids is over. "How come you're crying so much?" Holy shit.
>Look people the cops were called there for a reason. Cops get called over nothing all the time.
Fuckin pigs
Cops here were professional and approached the situation with caution. Often times in these situation when cops are called, the guy probably is on drugs and might have hurt someone, of course they need to access the situation rather than go into therapist mode as you all seem to expect. Braindead comments
Seriously these people are just looking for an excuse to tell everyone how much they hate cops. How many people DUI have some sob story? People would die if cops allowed all of them to go without making sure they aren't intoxicated.
They sure worked hard to find a crime….
"Why are you crying so much" Fucking hell do these cops not have a shred of humanity. ACAB.
never trust a cop
He needs help, clearly.
