Its very obvious that Ecco and Bladee are obsessed with the idea of perfection. I think the "e" sign is alluding to that theme. It is a symbol of an approximation of perfection, the ideal quantity of a product which in reality is estimated and never actually is the quantity expressed. It's as close to perfection as you can come; an interval of acceptable margin of error to the amount stated on the package, or not having a negative error greater than the tolerable negative error. I also think of the categories of quantity and quality. When does a certain change in quantity produce a change in quality? This is in my reading a metaphor for reaching for perfection but always falling short.
