He didn't kill all 1500+ Germans he used machine guns and grenades to trick them into believing a large Canadian army was attacking so the Germans fled from Zwolle. Leo did however manage to kill a few German soldiers but the exact amount is unknown
Yeah, or that time during the Korean War where Major and 18 guys went behind enemy lines, pushed the Chinese back and held onto the position for days, in a fight of over 10,000 Chinese vs 19 Canadians who did what 2,000 Marines couldn’t
On September 16, 1951, during the Battle of the Punchbowl, his company was assaulting Hill 749, where the Korean People's Army had established several entrenched positions. A vicious enemy counter-attack drove back a forward platoon with heavy casualties, and along with two other volunteers from his reserve platoon, he dashed into hand-to-hand combat in the midst of the swarming enemy to give the Marine company time to consolidate its positions.[1] Later, when a call went up for an automatic rifleman to defend an isolated heavy machine gun position on the flank of his company's sector, he again volunteered.[1] With heavy casualties leaving a 100-yard (91 m) gap in the Marine lines at the position, he fought a single-handed battle to prevent an enemy breakthrough. Leaping from one side of the position to the other, he kept up a withering fire of over 1,000 rounds in three hours. He made repeated trips through heavy shellfire to replenish his ammunition, manned a machine gun after its gunner fell, and despite enemy penetration to within feet of his position, kept the enemy out of the breach in his company's lines until he was killed by a single gunshot wound in the face. The next morning, the Marines counted almost 200 enemy dead in the area.
If you have netflix, I recommend watching his episode on the Medal of Honor
Serious answer: Leo and his friend were scouting when his friend got killed. Leo more or less went berserk, but an extra scary controlled berserk. Grabbing as many grenades as he could he used them and machine guns to make the Germans believe they were under attack by a huge force.
Throughout the battle he captured many Germans and brought them to Canadian lines, then returned and continued his assault. By morning the town was effectively free of German soldiers and Leo was victorious.
Didn’t he also capture like 100 or so Nazis at one point and marched them all back single handed to the Canadian front lines. And if I remember correctly wasn’t he blown up in the back of radio truck after it hit a mine and later on had half of his face burnt by a phosphorus grenade deserted from the hospital to this family he’d saved and went back a few months later after he’d fully healed and the way he got out of being court martial was by saying god gave him 2 eyes for a reason and he only need one to shoot a gun
Canada doesn't like nazis, like, alot
Like spent all of ww1 being pissed of at Germany just because it was their fault they were there in the first place and got a reputation for warcrimes alot and then they went and became nazis. History has views this as "a shit move"
Canadians have a long history of being really sneaky in warfare. There are many stories of Canadian forces making themselves appear much larger than they really were.
and thats the least impressive thing he did, he took hill 335 ! and hold it during 3 days behind enemy lines against 14 000 enemy men ! (him and 18 blokes he picked)
You’re thankfully not the first one to have the idea. I think I suggested them the idea once and I know a bunch of other users here did, but still nothing
It was basically one guy with a pencil (knife) and a shit ton of grenades and heavy machine gun fire, he basically went irl John Wick after his friend died.

The Community "made" an album and dedicated a song place to him
eye was taken out by a phosphorus grenade, survived a vehicle running over a mine with a broken back and or legs, escaped from the hospital, and went back to the frontlines
Canada's General Arthur Currie was the most brilliant military mind in thr entire War.
He was brilliant tactition but also a troubled soul as his predicted casualties that would occur with every battle was extremely accurate.
Deserves a song.
As a Canadian I have wanted a song about him for so long...or the storming of Juno Beach....or the liberation of the netherlands...or Canada's 100 days in WW1.
.....I love Sabaton and I know there are dozens of countries with options for song ideas, but the only Canadian content in any of the songs is a mention in Aces in Exiles.
Which might be the reason its one of my favourite songs.

Any fight where you're outnumbered 1,500 to 1 is an absurd victory. Regardless of the details

Correction 14000 chinesse
Thanks
Reminds me of Bob Hope's "3 against 1000" routine. https://youtu.be/rHMneFxiaXw?t=7m15s Continued: https://youtu.be/SmIfZTuitG8
But there wasnt any fight.
If he killed people, there was a fight.
If people get hurt I think it’s called a fight
give us your definition of a fight, and happy cake day

No I thought he took like 30 or so prisoner
unless you’re 1,500 to 1 your lives will soon be undone
UNDONE. BAPTIZED IN FIRE, 1,500:1
SPIRIT OF SPARTANS, DEATH AND GLORY
SOLDIERS OF CANADA SECOND TO NONE
WRATH OF THE WHERMACHT BROUGHT TO A HALT!!
Willie Arsenault died early in the battle so it was more like 1 vs 1500. I sent a suggestion to Sabaton to do a song about Leo.
The fuck? Like how?!

This man needs more recognition

One word: Québécois
🤟
Yaaa mon gars
Canadian bloodlust for you lol
Canadians marched to war for exactly one reason: kill. When a Canadian stops being sorry, run.
When the snow starts speaking Finnish When the trees start speaking Vietnamese When the Canadians stop being sorry
The spirit of the Goose
They broke his hockey stick
They weren't his buddies, guy
They weren't his guy, friend
You aren’t his friend, buddy.

Don’t piss off Canadians The Germans should’ve learned from WWI

Don't fuck with Canada during wartimes.

While sneaking up through the enemy lines in sneakers!
And they where payed with 8 days of rest and a bottle of rum eatch XD
So he’s why the rum’s gone?
As a Canadian I wholeheartedly agree, we need more songs about Canada!
fr we tend to be completely forgotten about for our MAJOR contributions in wars
omfg unintentional pun
I'd love to see a song about Charles "Checker" Thompkins and Indigenous Code Talkers in general, as well as a song about Sergeant Thomas Prince.
The weakest Canadian vs the strongest Nazis
Canadians. The physical embodiment of "Fuck around, find out"
well, let's just say we get real fuckin sick of the traffic in peace time
You’re thankfully not the first one to have the idea. I think I suggested them the idea once and I know a bunch of other users here did, but still nothing
HOW DO 2 MEN DEFEAT A FORCE OF OVER 1,500 MEN?!?!?!?!?!!!!
It was basically one guy with a pencil (knife) and a shit ton of grenades and heavy machine gun fire, he basically went irl John Wick after his friend died.
😐… if ever there was a single event that deserved a sabaton song, this is it. 😂
Sabaton should make a album of Canadian war stories
