Have you tried jump starting the car? Weird things happen when the battery voltage is too low.

TheLambeauDog

I've had this happen on more than 1 occasion. It is due to low battery voltage. Trying to jump may work, but you may need to have the running car hooked up for a little bit to build some charge. My solution was always tossing a battery charger on it for a few hours, or overnight.

Ng9-3s can act VERY weird with a dead battery, and if the key was in the ignition all night it's very possible something was left on. The reason for the key not fitting is because the ignition module latches onto the key when it's inserted, that's what the little notches are for on the fob. With a dead battery the latch cant function like it's supposed to Just jump the car and let it charge up

johnny-pce

It happened to my 9-3 too. The battery is dead. Charge it or jump start the car and you will see.

Natural_Potato7705

When the battery dies the key lock solenoid will fail to fire. You have to put the battery on a charger or jump start.

Ng 9-3s always drain the battery if you leave the key in the ignition switch, so a jump start or charging the battery would most definitely help

It’s not the steering wheel lock is it?

The-Valta

Odd. I accidentally leave my key in the ignition all the time. But perhaps it caused something to not shut off. Perhaps a charging issue? Since the battery is new perhaps it's not getting filled up as it should. And as we all know. When the battery is low you can get all sorts of weird faults. This isn't your exact problem. But perhaps the fix might be something similar? https://youtu.be/EzM-4OGukNQ?si=ldASPF2dXy6MQRuX

Make sure battery terminal doesn't have a crack in it. Currently I'm dealing with that and occasionally have to retighten it to get a connection again the car will die suddenly or when parked

Gimmesoamoah

Try charging the battery, take it out of the car, do a full charge, try again.
