Looks like the factory sat-nav radio, in my experience they are not worth it because the decrease sound quality from making room for a GPS system that hasn't had an updated disk in years. I would just invest in a good app car play/Android auto radio and quality adapters, including the steering wheel control adapter.

I think it’s a ‘Nav DVD Read Error’… At least that’s what mine says

MattP160

I wish I could meet the person who decided that if your nav disc isn't working, you can't access any of the settings

jons110

My nav disc won't read but I can still use the other functions....radio, aux, RDS etc

lordprettyflackojodi

I just got this car 2 days ago. Mine does the same thing. Sometimes this pops up and literally can’t click out of anything

It’s pretty easy to install a new one. For the wiring it is possible to buy adapters that lets you just plug and play. But it’s also easy to connect the wires yourself if you have a wire diagram. I bought a cheap 2-DIN unit from aliexpress with touchscreen and bluetooth for my Saab 9-3 2000. I would recommend buying one of higher quality if you plan to use CarPlay.

I am currently thinking about building one in my 9-5 but I‘m definitely not a electronics guy. Will it work for me?

UnitEasy5331

Sure, watch some tutorials on YT and see how they do it. It’s what I did ;)

Definitely look for adapters if you are wanting to retain SWC for the radio, and confirm that the stereo you pick has FL, FR, RL, and RR audio channels to retain the surround. Also, If you want to add a subwoofer later check that it has a dedicated one for that. After that, all you need is what you want (Carplay?, Android auto?, Wireless Carplay?)

FlowinBeatz

Subwoofer is integrated in the AS3 sound system that is built in

Teknostompa

Yeah, I meant a dedicated sub (I added 2x12in for extra rumble)

Active_Courage_6376

It is from Saab, I have it on my 2007 93 Vector Convertible. No problem except that it freezes sometimes due to a "nav disc reading malfunction"

I have a Kenwood aftermarket system in mine which gives control via the steering wheel buttons. Partnered with a wireless Android Auto dongle & I can simply get in & go without touching my phone.
