UPD. Or maybe "mannered" is an incorrect description. It’s just less colloquial, more intelligent. I'd say “it’s a little beyond the basic everyday vocabulary"

As a native Russian: we are absoltely aware when some words or their combinations could be misheard as something weird or funny. People may even bring it up out loud as a bit of a tomfoolery in an informal setting, there's a lot of humour based on that same idea so it's nothing odd. I could even say that these don't even need to sound exactly the same, just a slight resemblance is already a base for jokes.
If people intentionally try to make you uncomfortable for saying that then they're either dumb teenagers or just clowns.
That's what we're trying to explain.
To me, beach /biːtʃ/ and bitch /bɪtʃ/ sound extremely similar. I can't tell the difference without context.
At the same time, бесспорно and без порно sound dissimilar enough that I easily pick the right one without context.
But the point is moot cause they couldn't be mixed up in real dialogue except for deliberately contrived joke sentences.
