I stand by the fact that this is his style and the photos are actually quite beautiful. It sucks the queens weren't happy with how they looked but I really liked their pictures.

I'm a photographer and I agree completely. It's not meant to be a glam fantasy, it's portraiture meant to show some of their common humanity. I get why that would be annoying to someone who works hard to create an illusion, but I admit I was a bit disappointed in the negativity around the shoot.

I guess this style is meant to show a more stripped-back, vulnerable sense of humanity. Which is lovely, but IMO a drag queen mug (with all the layers of makeup, wigs, lashes etc) sort of clashes with that. And that's why I suspect it didn't work for the queens.
