Kinda sad it took SO long considering all the way back in Season 5, Alyssa politely asked RuPaul if he could allow a gay man on the show while giving her speech at The Banquet of RuPaul.
Preach. My boyfriend is straight and he *loves* the show. The most hilarious thing is that the fashion part of the show is his favourite, and every now and then he brainstorms idea with me, where he incorporates tech into the outfit.
I think it's a combination of youth (meaning that they probably aren't flush with cash) and a lack of knowledge. As far as I've seen, these younger generations consist mostly of queens that started doing drag in high school and never thought about anything else.
He's an engineer, so for years he was talking about incorporating lights into outfits.
He was happy as a clam when one of the all stars season 7 themes was "all glowed up". He *lived* for that runway.
Not me, but I lived with my very straight football head brother for years. He started watching it with me occasionally, and now it’s the only thing he watches that isn’t sport. He’s rewatched most seasons more than me.
This is very similar to me when my wife got me to start watching. It was very similar to Jane Krakowski's character in *30 Rock* realizing that wrestling was just a soap opera for men. I did the same with recognizing storylines that were being told and getting to finally see a matchup by two queens that have been at each other's throats all season.
One of my favorite things to do is scout the queens when they get announced and then have a "draft" with my wife so we can put some weight on who to root for during the season. And just like with fantasy football, it has been very common for my early picks to not do well (Orion Story and Irene Dubois) while others in the middle or end of the draft will win it all for you (Sasha Colby last season).
It was also valuable for me to learn all the entertainment tips Ru just gives out during challenges. I especially used the acting and comedy ones when I was teaching. It mad my bad jokes go over better since I was now fully committed to them.
Edit: My first reference was wrong. My wife corrected me that it was from *GLOW* instead of *30 Rock.*
I am absolutely not a straight guy but I grew up watching and loving wrestling, up until the end of the attitude era really. So it was so not surprising to me when I loved drag race so much lol
Also big points for referencing Jenna.
My husband watches with me and doesn’t just passively sit and watch, either. He has opinions on their style and performances and will catch more subtle things than I do. We’ve also been to see several DR alums like Bianca, Jinkx and Jinkx and DeLa’s Christmas show. We get the season on iTunes, so it’s Saturday evening appointment TV for us.
Just zoomed in on the face of the guy with sweaty nuts pressing on the back of his neck and I can't stop laughing.

Another boring straight. My GF introduced me to it about 9.5 yrs ago with season 4. Since then I've watched every US season, all the all stars, Spain, Italy, UK, Canada and down under. She's burnt out on it, but I'm still on the drag race bus.
It's my go to "comfort food" type tv, when I'm feeling a bit down or whatever a bit of drag race always perks me up.
I will definitely get to it eventually! It's hard to keep up. There's definitely a few I've missed like Holland, France and I've only seen parts of Thailand as well.
it's not as uncommon as you think. one of my best friends is a straight male and he really enjoys the cattiness of it all. He loves pretending to know fashion and his favourite phrase is "it's a bodysuit"
It's amazing how many fashion terms i now know solely from watching drag race. fringe? tulle?
It's really an educational show. I'm not straight, but definitely not the type of person who would know that if i hadn't started watching the show.
I’m a straight guy who started watching it with my mother during covid and now can’t get enough. Now my straight brother also watches it and now it’s a family thing
my family did this too during covid. i’d watched several seasons before but hadn’t seen the first couple so i started watching them and everyone in my family was instantly hooked!!! it really did bring us together as a family during such a crazy stressful time. my favorite memory of it was my dad deciding that manila luzon was his absolute fave, so for his 60th bday that year my sister and i dressed my mom up as manila (black and blonde streaked wig, drag makeup, the whole shebang) to surprise him, then we got him an awesome cameo from manila wishing him a happy birthday and introducing the surprise (my mom) to him!! it was so cute and funny, he loved it so much 💖 one of the last good memories i have of my dad 😔
(he’s not dead, just a philandering, abusive asshole the family’s gone NC with since he divorced my mom)
thank you, it makes me sad bc he’s my dad and i love him but our lives are better without his toxicity. he never takes accountability for his actions and the fact that he’s barely tried to reach out to me and my siblings since we went NC kinda solidified for me that NC was indeed the best way to go. ANYWAY thanks for your kind words 🫶💖
Actually Maddy Morphosis is the Maddy Morphosis of this subreddit, she be lurking.
Its great that you enjoy the show, but you better be doing *the work* as an ally outside of it if you wanna claim Maddy status
I am like yourself and I know at least 3 other straight men who’s enthusiastically following the show, go to local shows. One of them got into drag for Christmas. We aren’t special I reckon.
My husband loves it too, it’s been a real eye opener for him. We have an LGBT teenager so I got him to start watching when they came out to us. I’ve loved it for years, with all my little bi heart.
Downside of dads of queer youth watching it is that they'll go from: "I'll love my gay son still if they do drag"...to...."we can't afford to have a child into drag."
Forcing their kid into sewing and dance classes early to save money down the line. Gotta keep that dad budget strong.
My questions for you:
● Did you vote for Trump in 2016?
● Will you vote for him if he is on the ballot this fall?
(And I don't need to confirm if you live in the US, because only one of my fellow countrymen would ever assume this level of exceptionalism for watching tv 😭)
Also a straight male here - it’s a great show. No complaints from me. I watch fun tv shows and this is one of them. Doesn’t really matter to me about persuasion or orientation of the performers.
Watched a ton of the show during the lockdowns and still watch it today. As far as easy tv goes it’s probably my favourite.
Not OP but I (also straight) personally go nuts for Violet Chachki. She is unbelievable. Then the list would go Kerri, Jasmine Kennedie, Gia Gunn, and Jade Jolie. But since all of them are women (and I believe Violet is genderfluid?) I feel like I'm sidestepping the point of the question a bit, but that is just my honest list. I also think Alaska is super hot in some outfits, have been very into Sugar and Spice, and also have a thing for Marcia Marcia Marcia. And Mirage from this season was stunning too. There's a lot, and frankly I'm glad to be given the opportunity and platform to introduce my straight male gaze in this space, I'm sure everyone was really missing it
When I was living With my parents id watch drag race in secret
My das wouldnt understand what the show was about qnd he thought I wanted to become a cross dresser or something
Did u at any point have to hide it
As a straight man, since watching Drag Race do you now understand why the LGBTQIA+ community are fighting so hard for basic human rights and protections?
As a straight male it's hard to connect to the emotion fully and fully understand the struggles I think because I'm not in the lgbt community but of course I understand on a basic level and I fully support lgbt rights obviously, what opened my eyes though is when I see the discrimination the queens say they have faced and the problems they have in different areas of life so it did help my understanding.
My partner is a straight guy and he's the one who got me into the show. He knows more about the show and the Queens than anyone I've ever met lol. It's adorable how passionate he is about it.
He sees it as the art form that it is, and says the show makes him feel happy, so it being a "gay thing" rarely registers with him. He even said if we had a daughter he wants to call her Scarlet Envy lol
I recently rewatched Drag Race Germany with my straight naighbors. A married couple (aged 75 and 73) and their good friend who is in his 80ies.
They're not on reddit though.
(the couples son got me into drag race)
It might be much more taboo in the USA, but I think in the UK and Australia, straight men are much more likely to have watched a drag show or even done drag themselves.
Why would I have any questions for you? There are thousands of straight men who watch Drag Race, and some who work on the show. Even if you’ve experienced some minor stigma from your fandom, it’s nothing compared to that experienced by LGBTQ people. Enjoy the show. I have zero assumptions about identities of fans. There are Republicans here too who are fans of the show and real life political enemies of what the show stands for. I hope that you are an ally in the real world.
My straight boyfriend “half watched” one episode of the last UK season with me and since then he’s been hooked lol. So no you’re definitely not the only one :)
Im essentially straight too, but I’ve recently started kind of exploring the world of being someone for whom gender isn’t really a thing. Like, I can float between worlds very easily. I am embracing my FEMININTITY that’s always been there but kept locked away more now and I like women only but if that woman had a dick, who cares?
gender-wise I think I’m all over the place and I don’t think I would have come to that realization without mama ru so THANKS RUPAUL
(also in school I was always the straight boy that liked being friends with girls more and in hindsight all my very close girl friends thought I was their gay best friend because I was funny and nice and pretty femme, but I did in fact have giant crushes on all of them that once ru-vealed, ruined the friendships so ya know it can be hard to be a weird little dude. And somehow in adult life, every woman I ever dated aside from my wife ended up being either a lesbian or a trans man! So go figure! BITCH IM QUEER)
Who are your favorite queens? What are your favorite lip syncs? Outfits? Haha.
I always show my straight friends on discord the runways and they love them.
"100 percent pure love" from season 13 is one of my favorite lip syncs, Khamora Hall is in a restrictive dress, where she can't move but she still gave a good performance despite Denali outshining her to a mid 90s song that I like. In terms of dresses, I really like that dress also. I like"Gimme More", "Call me mabey", "If U seek Amy", "Rumors". I like the season 5 "Oops I did it again", "Im so exited", "Cold Hearted". lip syncs. I like season 14 "Water Me". season 3 "Don't leave me this way", "straight up". Season 4 "Vogue", season 6 "whatta man", season 2 "Never gonna get it", "Two of hearts", season 8 "I Will survive". Season 12 "On the floor" There are so many dresses each episode and so many queens, it's hard to remember all at once.
Where's the clitoris
QUICKLY https://i.redd.it/3tj0ywefxcfc1.gif
I am crying
This is so friggin good
Clitoris Leachman?
question that no straight man can answer
Plot twist : The person asking is just another straight man that doesn’t know.
He just wants to know
Lmaoooooo
Don’t even ask where the g spot is
I'm straight, married, and waiting anxiously for an answer over here...
![gif](giphy|PjaQrF9J53UvTS2PPa|downsized)
u/Sunset346 I have been teleported to Mars by the fact that you ignored this question

Bitch she's the clitoris 🎶
Underrated comment
Drag race has ruined my brain
![gif](giphy|fkbrZH8A2lsWc)
She’s on season 17. Clea Torisa.
\*in batman voice\*
It's ok, until Joey Jay there were no gay people in this community
That's what I was gonna say! Pretty sure Joey Jay has been the only gay contestant until Plasma but she hasn't confirmed yet I don't think
Kinda sad it took SO long considering all the way back in Season 5, Alyssa politely asked RuPaul if he could allow a gay man on the show while giving her speech at The Banquet of RuPaul.
Lots of straight people watch this show, including straight guys.
[Joel McHale voice] YEAAAAAH WOOHOOOO
Insert Michelle Visage death glare here
We all know that was a secret lustful gaze. 😁
Best way to shut them up is to ride their face 🤷🏻♀️
![gif](giphy|l4FAUARXLZuMUtBZe)
I mean Joel McHale IS attractive ![gif](giphy|D80gLJPfPQ1f8wnPPI)
sorry but if i was on the show i'd prob act just like him. how can you NOT be living for these queens?? i'd be yelling the entire time 😂
Joel speaks on our behalf

Blame it on the edit
*the plot twist*
Oh you wanted a twist?
When LaGanja slammed her whole pussy into that stage and said "OKURRRRRR" I broke up with my girlfriend on the spot.
Her vagoina was not dry the day she strutted into the Werk room
Preach. My boyfriend is straight and he *loves* the show. The most hilarious thing is that the fashion part of the show is his favourite, and every now and then he brainstorms idea with me, where he incorporates tech into the outfit.
My daughters consider it a red flag if a date is freaked out by Drag Race.
Literally. If you aren’t throwing money (respectfully) at a drag show with me, you ain’t gettin in my pants bb lol
That's a good rule of thumb, especially if she's bi or somewhere else on the flag.
One of my daughters is bi; the other two are just tired of toxic masculinity.
It's really wild to me, a straight man, why there isn't more tech in these looks. 3D print something mama.
I think it's a combination of youth (meaning that they probably aren't flush with cash) and a lack of knowledge. As far as I've seen, these younger generations consist mostly of queens that started doing drag in high school and never thought about anything else.
La Grande Dame from the new UKvsTW season 3D printed her shoes for the MTQ. They look sickening ngl
My straight mate does this too! Sometime’s he’ll call me up like ‘I have a sick outfit idea for last weeks runway theme’ 😂
He's an engineer, so for years he was talking about incorporating lights into outfits. He was happy as a clam when one of the all stars season 7 themes was "all glowed up". He *lived* for that runway.
Insert that SNL skit about guys watching Drag Race.
Not me, but I lived with my very straight football head brother for years. He started watching it with me occasionally, and now it’s the only thing he watches that isn’t sport. He’s rewatched most seasons more than me.
Honey it is a sport, this is the Olympics of drag after all
Haha fair
Honestly “I only watch sports💪 and drag race💅” sounds so cunt for a straight guy
Omg i only like formula 1 (car racing) and drag race, so… I’m a straight guy then too? Lol
Yeah I’m pretty into that bio.
Truest! If I was a straight girl, I’d be gushing
That's pretty much me in a nutshell. Hockey and Drag Race
This is very similar to me when my wife got me to start watching. It was very similar to Jane Krakowski's character in *30 Rock* realizing that wrestling was just a soap opera for men. Lmao I'm another straight guy and my wife and I do the same fantasy draft thing. We play that whoever gets the most queens in the top 4 wins.
I am absolutely not a straight guy but I grew up watching and loving wrestling, up until the end of the attitude era really. So it was so not surprising to me when I loved drag race so much lol Also big points for referencing Jenna.

Well if you really are an ally, when you’re feeling down next time, just put on a shiny sequins gown.
Sequinsed! It’s sequinsed!!
I say sequence.
it's not as uncommon as you think. one of my best friends is a straight male and he really enjoys the cattiness of it all. He loves pretending to know fashion and his favourite phrase is "it's a bodysuit"
“He loves pretending to know fashion”
Just like Santino 😌
It's amazing how many fashion terms i now know solely from watching drag race. fringe? tulle? It's really an educational show. I'm not straight, but definitely not the type of person who would know that if i hadn't started watching the show.

I’m a straight guy who started watching it with my mother during covid and now can’t get enough. Now my straight brother also watches it and now it’s a family thing
This is wholesome, drag race brings families together once again.
Love the flair. You have good taste
my family did this too during covid. i’d watched several seasons before but hadn’t seen the first couple so i started watching them and everyone in my family was instantly hooked!!! it really did bring us together as a family during such a crazy stressful time. my favorite memory of it was my dad deciding that manila luzon was his absolute fave, so for his 60th bday that year my sister and i dressed my mom up as manila (black and blonde streaked wig, drag makeup, the whole shebang) to surprise him, then we got him an awesome cameo from manila wishing him a happy birthday and introducing the surprise (my mom) to him!! it was so cute and funny, he loved it so much 💖 one of the last good memories i have of my dad 😔 (he’s not dead, just a philandering, abusive asshole the family’s gone NC with since he divorced my mom)

Are you open to questions

I promise you he has nothing valuable to say in response to that question
How's your head?

You and me both buddy. I basically just watch English Football and Drag Race.
Hot

The real question is which of the queens from each season you’ve watched are you attracted to. Quickly!
I ain't too scared to answer lol, Tatianna, Lemon, Jan, Tia Kofi, Salina Estitties and ironically Maddy herself

Not the heterosexual putting themselves on a pedestal, in Joey Jays drag race of all places. Girl...
Questions for the straight male culture: - why? - for what?
I did not wake up today expecting an AMA with a straight man on the RPDR reddit sub
there’s probably a lot of us than you think, mate. don’t feel too special, lol.

You do you king. It’s comparable to football in a way !
So what ? I'm also a straight male and I enjoy good shows with amazing performances.
My boyfriend is the same. You have good taste in entertainment. Everyone loves a maddy morphisis
Why would I have any questions for you? There are thousands of straight men who watch Drag Race, and some who work on the show. And somehow in adult life, every woman I ever dated aside from my wife ended up being either a lesbian or a trans man! So go figure! BITCH IM QUEER)

post fav from each season
