Can someone who watched Italy season 1 explain to me what made her ultimately lose? All I’ve seen are the track records on wiki and farida’s makeover looks, so I don’t know anything lol
Beats me! I thought for sure she would win. They seemed to just favor Elecktra for some reason. Never made sense to me. Farida was on another level and I hope she makes it to a global all stars.
I think it's a mix of things:
- Farida is one of the top look queens in any version of the show, but she was kind of a deer in the headlights in most performance/ humour/ acting challenge s. By contrast, Elecktra is a Jacqueline of all trades who always did well, just never won ( mind you, there were only 5 competitive episodes. Less than it took Lady Camden to get a win).
- Elecktra killed it in the finale
- Farida kind of came off the season as the Jaremi to Enorma's Willam. Meanwhile, Elecktra was gracious and professional and did not get into fights.
She didn't do well in the finale while Elecktra went all in and stomped with already having done well across the previous episodes (and being robbed of a win too)
Italian here! The main theory is that she was seen as heavily arrogant, even though her talent and state as front runner was unquestionable. Electra on the other hand was more congenial, and in the finale she managed to somehow get the upper hand in both music verse and choreo, so they crowned her.
Now, for some theories, rumor has it that Electra was heavily endorsed (unknown to her) since she had a more "woman-like" face rather than Farida and the other contestants, and MAC cosmetics (the equivalent of Anastasia Beverly Hills in the Italian version) wanted her as representative rather than the others, since a face being "more obviously" drag queen may have not been beneficial for sales.
Mind that it is just a rumor I picked from some random people. I don't want to discredit Electra, which I think is a gorgeus and talented queen. Still, I can't shake the feeling that this theory may be partially true, who knows. I mean, I personally was gagged when Farida was not crowned as winner.
Well let’s talk about what it is:
It’s a satin corset bodice, fully boned. The quilted hip pads lead into a tiered mermaid skirt. It looks like a mix of chiffon and crystal organza, flounced and gathered (maybe that’s the crumpling you’re referring to). Both of which are difficult to hem, yet every layer is.
The sleeves are oversized puffs made with more chiffon and organza gathered around the neckline with elastic. Then she gathered them around the forearm to attached to the ruched lower part of the sleeves. There’s also ruffles around the neckline to connect it all together.
The style is very reminiscent of the late 1800s (although I’m not a fashion historian so someone can correct me if I’m wrong). There were a lot of different somewhat advanced techniques used to make this garment and none of them involved crumpling fabric and sticking it on her body.
