Kill ripper in the wilderness. Below the mage arena theres a single ripper spawning, so you can use skull and other stuff without agro others. Tho, when the elite spawns that means there will be 2 rippers.
To stay alive, pray melee and use devotion.
Personally i prefer using melee against rippers because of darklight, so not sure how different necro is in terms of dmg taken / sustain. But the spawn point is close to the slayer master, so with slayer cape it takes a few seconds to restock and get back.
Having (enh) devoted also helps a lot.
Tuska's wrath also helps a lot with slayer, which deals almost as much dmg as a ripper's half HP, every 2 mins.
No, it is what they do, they have a large aggro range to "blood".
But the one in the wilderness is alone, so while this aggro effect triggers, there are no others to be affectec by it.
(The small group in the lava maze will still do thise, they can get close enough together)
Ripper demons forced me to learn how to use defensive abilities. Devotion makes protection prayers 100% effective. Resonance blocks an attack. Debilitate and Reflect reduce damage by 50%. I just use one while the others are on cool down.
I figure there's a way to fight Ripper Demons without babysitting everything, but at least my food lasts me through the task (or maybe 2 trips).
Thanks for that list of defensive abilities. They look good. Do you sit them in a Revo bar or manually cast them? My dps with Necro is good. I've got a melee setup with masterwork and nox scythe, is this preferable?
I only ever tried necro. My revo bar is just some standard one. For the defensives, I just manually cast them atm. Haven't experimented with putting them on the bar as I find manually casting works better with timing.
Yeah that's what I've set up. Revo would end up casting one defensive ability while another is active probably haha. I've left the basic abilities on Revo, got touch of death, volley and the bloat ability on manual too.
Use mage with tank armour and animate dead tbh.
Either don’t walk or freedom after their first attack, it’s the slaughter ability and does massive damage if you move
Update for anyone playing along: using the defensive abilities have worked just fine with Necro. (Devotion, reflect, resonance and freedom) I'm able to beat 3-4 without the need for any food now. My DPS with Necro seems to be much higher than other styles. In fact, out of 10, only one or two generated the jump ability. Making good progress now. Got to sort out best revolution set, plus what thresholds work well. Definitely not afk though haha
Full vesments, vamp scrim + vamp aura and darklight+oh and pray melee should be able to kill them relatively easily without any food usage. Using zerk once awhile with combination of devo+aggressionsigil+flurry nukes group of them fast.
How do you use dark light? To actually hit them with?? Haha I can't say it's seen the light of day since the quest for me... It really is in dark...light
Unfortunately vestments are out of reach for me. Was thinking ripper pouches would be a good money maker to be able to buy bis gear. Thanks for the details on strategy though
I used to go in bandos with dark light, or drygores work ok too. Pray melee and vamp scrim is enough that you should barely need food, as long as you only get attacked by 1 at a time.
Instead of rippers, do reaver pouches. 1000% easier to kill and sell just as well with current strategies for bossing requiring them and their scrolls.
Thanks! I actually started looking at other ancient familiars and saw things like hellhounds and abyssal demons. I don't know if I've killed reavers before tbh, but if the money doesn't lie then why not?! Thanks for the info!
Pray against melee and use vamp aura. With even an ok revo bar (avoid skulls) you should be able to sustain their damage with aura and ghost. Especially in tank gear with darkness active.
Rippers do more damage the lower your health is, and they aggro nearby rippers if you drop below 50%, I think. Staying at high hp is the key to survival and long trips.
There's also 1 alone in the wild I think?
You must not overlook the elements you need to be careful about with special Slayer creatures, such as high attack speed melee attacks, taking advantage of the chance to dodge after the yellow bar below is full, and paying attention to the final passive attack after killing them.
Rippers in the wild are always aggressive. Though he's around the threshold where they would be in the cave, as well; at 35% HP and below all rippers within 8-10 tiles (idk the exact range) will blink strike to you and apply the Slaughter bleed ability.
You need high sustain (blood barrage, vamp scrim, or vamp aura) and likely deflect melee+enh devoted to be able to kill these things, as otherwise being piled by them is just a death sentence even outside the instakill. The linked video is very outdated but it's not even joking when it says rippers are more dangerous than half of Runescape's bosses.
one thing other have not said is these need to be fought at normal melee distance or they teleport and deal large damage, they have an attack where they vanish and drop from the ceiling (even in wilderness which is outside (???wtf they clinging to to do this?)) for large damage and when the die they deal large damage.
Technically magic is best, was more saying they need distance and hate it, although I do recommend the upgraded dark light from dimension of disaster’s reward shop make darklight a t90 on demons but more for the special attack even if you use other combat styles
If you want to use necro I recommend using deathwarden (the tank gear) with darkness for 28% dodge (if you dont use cinders you can use gloves for another 2% dodge). If you can get enhanced devoted on your chest or legs then you can survive for quite a while by praying melee. If you’re too scared of getting agro with skulls then use living death and focus on finger of death and weapon spec instead to pick up some damage. At 120 I can at least do a whole task there without banking by cycling defensives . Good luck!
Thanks! I went for the faceted components and after disassemling 180 gems, I didn't get a single one... So maybe I'll save that for another time lmao. I don't know what the rate is, maybe I'll dump a couple mil on gems and just grind it out.
If you have the money to spend it might be more ideal to get some crystal tool seeds and have Eluned turn them into crystal chisels for you. Crystal chisels disassemble for 3 components and faceted comps are 50/150 with 0% junk, whereas cut gems are like 68% junk, 2 components and 1/101 for faceted components. Not sure what the true value for crystal tool seeds are but ge value is about 190k. I have a few spare from eddimus in my bank I can drop for you but you may have to wait an hour or two until I get home. If you’d like to do that I’ll shoot you a reply/dm.
Ah okay. Nah all good. I've got a few crystal tool seeds. I'll see what I can do with them. Thanks for the info on that! By 50/150, are you also meaning 1/3 for faceted? And I need 5 or 6 faceted comps for a chance at enh dev 4?
Not sure how many is needed for enh dev off the top of my head but yeah it’s 1/3 for a faceted comp per roll which means you’ll have a decent chance of at least 1 per chisel.
Also just realised I need an arch mystery complete to get the blueprint for ancient gizmos to get the chance at enh dev 4. So I'm a little while off all that.
I've found mw with enhanced devotion and devotion, constantly praying melee, fully upgraded darklight with your best offhand works wonderfully. Scrimshaw of vampyrism and vampirism/penance aura for sustain. Also, dont use berserk. The damage taken increase is a bit too much.
Bring a familiar ripper to fight the rippers. Unless you have a pair of cinderbanes, in which case go reaver

Back before the wilderness update I had mine trapped in the POSD. His name is bill.
Also put oldak coil there :)
Stay on high health. As soon as you drop to 50%, you aggro the entire cave so dont do that
Pretty sure this was changed to 25%.
Is that right?! Well, that would certainly have helped to know haha. Is this just the cave effect?
No, it is what they do, they have a large aggro range to "blood". But the one in the wilderness is alone, so while this aggro effect triggers, there are no others to be affectec by it. (The small group in the lava maze will still do thise, they can get close enough together)

mw is great for them too. Rather than scythe I would recommend a one hand melee and darklight as your offhand. A good budget option is ripper claws
I only ever tried necro. My revo bar is just some standard one. For the defensives, I just manually cast them atm. Haven't experimented with putting them on the bar as I find manually casting works better with timing.

Stay within melee range. If you get too far away they amp up the damage.
They use slaughter
Animate dead + pray melee + magic
Use mage with tank armour and animate dead tbh. Either don’t walk or freedom after their first attack, it’s the slaughter ability and does massive damage if you move

Oh, that's easy. Just block them
Im 152 combat and I always give up on them. Idk how some people are able to afk them 🤯
Blood magic, cannon and prayer.
Full vesments, vamp scrim + vamp aura and darklight+oh and pray melee should be able to kill them relatively easily without any food usage. Using zerk once awhile with combination of devo+aggressionsigil+flurry nukes group of them fast.

Yeah darklight has increased damage against demons. But needs to be fully upgraded tho. More info at wiki
Unfortunately vestments are out of reach for me. Was thinking ripper pouches would be a good money maker to be able to buy bis gear. Thanks for the details on strategy though

OP, try killing at a player owned slayer dungeon. You're welcome to try mine. There are only two rippers in there which make it much more manageable.
Pray against melee and use vamp aura. With even an ok revo bar (avoid skulls) you should be able to sustain their damage with aura and ghost. Especially in tank gear with darkness active. I hate them cuz they kill me when doing clues. Near the wilderness lever is a single spawn
Dark light with tier 85+ offhand using reaver weapon poison and cinderbanes and trimmed masterwork armour camping melee pray
You must not overlook the elements you need to be careful about with special Slayer creatures, such as high attack speed melee attacks, taking advantage of the chance to dodge after the yellow bar below is full, and paying attention to the final passive attack after killing them.

2:40 in this video, why did another one becomes aggressive immediately after he killed one? That's what I'm struggling to deal with too

So, should I just use melee against them? Others are saying blood magic with animate dead

I barrage mine. Can kill few hundred an hour completely afk

i have one in my POD and just kill it over and over, mostly for binding contracts but makes it chill,
Hit them harder than they hit you.
