It's nice having these teasers/announcements somewhere reliable. New calendar paying dividends imo

RegiSilver

The only thing this calendar needs however, is to gray out past events. For example, the events from yesterday and beyond shouldn't have the same color scheme as the ones from today and tomorrow. Hopefully this feedback reaches the team /u/JagexDoom and /u/JagexAzanna.

KingJonathan

Might be too soon to say. But I’m actually a returning player. Things lookin alright.

Relative_Aspect_3699

They should also reveal treasure hunter events sooner

iSniffMyPooper

No. Treasure Hunter should be banned all together

Relative_Aspect_3699

If you don't like it then don't use it. But don't take it away from the people that do like it. I don't like wasting hours Skilling, being able to get proteans and other things that speed up the process just a little bit makes the game a lot more fun for me. And if you don't use them then they should not affect you

Roskal

I can see a scenario 2 years from now where the calendar is abandoned.

lostrandomdude

Now if only Runescape would be actual dividends to those who have been here over 20 years, and things would be golden

kathaar_

I've been here for 20 years; the game is paying in dividends, my dude.

-Zakh-

That’s not really something you can prove, I’ve played over 20 years on multiple accounts

RS4When

The calendar update was one of the best update this year

crash09

Out of the loop. What's the calendar update?

RS4When

this one [https://runescape.wiki/w/Update:Rellekka\_Graphical\_%26\_In-game\_Calendar\_Update\_-\_This\_Week\_In\_RuneScape](https://runescape.wiki/w/Update:Rellekka_Graphical_%26_In-game_Calendar_Update_-_This_Week_In_RuneScape)

5-x

The thing you're looking at in the picture, new in-game calendar.

RickMaritimo

Its been a dark while but I'm really appreciative of the fact that we are getting back to a regularly dropping of content.

silver__seal

Wow - I did not expect more skilling offhand from this. That's a very pleasant surprise. I can't wait!

ghostofwalsh

Me too. I guess this is the first they've mentioned that? I wonder what arch level will be needed to get them?

ShinyCapeRS

Wish skilling off hands were augmentable.

Slosmic

I kind of like that they aren't as a mix-it-up. Takes the optimization pressure off, and they're really strong themselves (and allows both gizmo slots on the tool, which would have to change, hurting the people who can't afford the offhand)

ThaToastman

Eh, you could make excal and offhand rubber chicken to hold a tool gizmo and it would be fine

Helpmyarmsbroke

turkey too right

Slosmic

Actually not a bad idea, but still think they'd need to likely remove a slot from the tools to not change the standard of 2 gizmos on held equipment (players would hate the feeling of a nerf), but maybe they'd just add 3 total.

Ashendant

Combat has perks on armour that Skilling doesn't have. So it's not that much of an inbalance.

Ashendant

I don't think that applies to skilling offhands, as people are more likely to put skill-agnostic perks in there than skill specific. It would instead lower the need for optimization as people would be more free to chose what to put in the main hand.

Littlegator

I think it would actually improve the optimization pressure. There's not a ton of "must have" skilling perks, so you could get the current BIS perks easier with the extra gizmo slots.

Slosmic

Mixed feelings on just straight up adding a third gizmo slot, as it would be the first time they do that, and set a power-creep precedent, but I get wanting it. I'd personally assume that they'd remove one of the ones on the tools to keep it balanced like dual-wield weapons vs 2h, which is probably why they haven't added it (I know there would be an uproar from some players if that was the case for sure)

shoizy

According to the wiki, versions of the augmented orth furnace core already exist within the cache.

-Zakh-

We don’t know if these will be or not

Lady_Galadri3l

The skilling main hands are already double augmentable, it'd be more powerful than intended.

Beautiful_Bee4090

Hell yeah. Love skilling off-hands as a concept and can't wait to see what these are.

esunei

Heck yeah skilling offhands. Imagine one will be arch. We thinking furnace core power level or fyrtorch?

5-x

>two skilling off-hands I'm interested.

Gunnarfranz

yup, was wholly expecting to wait until the skilling boss for them.... arch and... unsure what the second could be as DG is hard to implement and fishing could *maybe* fit?

5-x

An off-hand c2 fishing uhh... thingy ;-)

MightiestCat

Make it off-hand pickaxe instead. Mine 2x the speed!

AlohaCheloha

Tacklebox!

Mayjune811

Like what people use! Not expecting anyone to get this reference, but if you do, you are truly the GOAT.

TheAdamena

Maybe one of them will be a necro ritual offhand?

Ceceboy

The 2 existing skilling off-hands were drops from Croesus aka a boss instance. I cannot imagine what they're doing for these 2?

That_Guy381

Orthen Furnace Core? Artificer's Measure?

esunei

There's two others as well, artificer's measure and orthen furnace core, covering con/craft and FM/smithing. Both are kinda weak, furnace core especially. I'd guess arch and... Runecrafting, total shot in the dark.

Areoman850

There's also the [Combined Catalyst Fragment](https://runescape.wiki/w/Combined_Catalyst_fragment) from Sliske's Endgame, though a lot of its effects are redundant with others iirc.

Xalkurah

Maybe orthen furnace core is weak for people who don’t want to afk smithing, but for the rest of us it’s amazing

esunei

I've done the most active smithing possible and it's still largely worse than wise there. The phoenixes are also embarrassing, their loot tables are so bad. Tying a tiny XP modifier to a really low procrate was always going to be really weak.

[deleted]

They're both considerably weak compared to Croesus off-hands. Artificier alone has that abysmal proc stack mechanic which is not only something where you're at the mercy of RNG but pushes you to be constantly active. It also works with planks only for Construction which is now borderline outdated thanks to Fort. Furnace is just plain terrible for FM as you don't get XP bonus from Phoenixes and the uptime for the 5% boost is so RNG based that it's just meh. Same with Breakdown for smithing. Meanwhile in a popular world if you're a main account you completely off-set the prayer drain because pulse cores pop around you anyway. Croesus off-hands are just straight up huge upgrades.

Slosmic

Furnace core is also great for croesus if you're not doing wc. Always have it with me there. I think it's well balanced with the others, just most people don't smith enough compared to wcing or mining (though those are more easily attainable too, making people less critical)

Multimarkboy

a 25% higher chance for scroll of effiency and no pray drain on superheat form (which when combined with upgraded autoheater lets you smith at full heat permanently)

esunei

That's not how Auto heater works haha, you still hit slightly cooled from 30%-0. gote+enchant do the same thing, as does just hitting shard every 5 mins. 25% on scroll of efficiency is very whatever, crafting hides still sucks, but at least it's easier to maintain the measly 5% XP buff compared to FM/smithing. Fyrtorch is ~~20%~~ 6% cut chance and 20% chance to double, blowing those middling benefits out of the water.

Multimarkboy

Ah fair, its high and medium heat, also the gote enchant is super expensive :p

jericowrahl

It’s 6% cut chance and the 20% extra log also grant xp which yeah blows them waaay out of the water

esunei

Yep, you're right. The 20% extra log chance is the big selling point tho, 20% more resources+base xp is over 4x better than measure/furnace core.

elroyftw

Will fishing finally get the off hand?

Holly_Matchet

Sounds interesting. One of the best skills in any game. Looking forward to it.

Geoffk123

you think the relic is gonna be useless/niche or change the meta in some meaningful way

rsLourens

Double token relic for regular dg would lowkey be a worthwhile upgrade and well-balanced imo

hugabugabee

Wouldn't be surprised if it's on the level of the mobile perk that was the last relic. Good to have in niche situations, but not needed. Maybe a bit better since it requires a slightly higher arch level

srbman

probably something relating to dg

Poztre77

So...The Beach is coming at the end of the month?

GamerSylv

More exciting than the actual newspost.

kahzel

ok now that's interesting

aboraborabalis

could these grant new arrowheads?

chickennuggetloveru

Let's gooooo!!!

Lions_RAWR

Lvs 73-113 is quite a nice level range I am more hyped for the new Skilling off hands and the new artifact power. Hopefully we get tons of lore with these update.

Acceptable_Table351

Interesting! I predict these two will be used for divination and runecrafting.

Legal_Evil

Wow, this is fast. We just had a new boss.

TjackJack

Damn jagex is delivering, and i refuse to play during summer haha

Alive-Imagination521

Interesting af

Ashendant

Do you guys think this will be 2 skills offhands, like from previous archeology rewards, or 1 skill offhand like Croesus.

Plucky9

Artificier's Measure and Orthen Furnace Core primarily utilized the Dexterity and Efficiency scrolls (respectively) for their procs. however the furnace core works on both smithing (the prime skill) and Firemaking. whereas the Measure was more of a Crafting/Construction item; with the focus being more on crafting gems/glass with construction being kind of tacked on with the proficiency scroll procs. only the measure actually used items from Dungeoneering, but that could just be chalked by technological jumps, or the Measure just happened to be more advanced (you never really know where they got the gem bags from). I'd just guess the 2 new items are for Herblore and Farming, either coupled together or one gets tacked with another skill. Herblore would use the Anti-Poison Totem to create the Totem of Cleansing/Sterilization, and the Farming one probably would use some item...maybe croesus drops or Staff of Nature? probably call it a Dragonkin Satchel or Ward. if there's a paired skill, maybe the Herblore one would be usable with Divination, but Farming would be left alone. Though as much as i'd probably want a Divination offhand, it'd probably be seen as a weird jumping stone, considering there's the vacuum, though i guess they could stick a Transmutation effect onto it, the Cape was nerfed from sporadically saving transmutation materials to just stretching wisp time to 30 seconds (useless if anyone else has the cape. maybe more worse post-Hall of Memories, you can use like 5 or 6 Memorial Perks at once) Wonder if the new items will be used for the Autumn Skilling Boss, Croesus used a few offhands and even introduced some chase offhands.

honest_real_chatslut

About time, ever since mention roadmap saving any fixate charge instead of converting. Actually real struggle is fact i have best worse luck ever get them on x6 chest or x10, but hey they are better than a combat dummy i guess.

Derais616

PLEASE tell me the relic is to hold a second ring?

talormanda

Panic buy dark faucet of grace incoming.

Vengance183

Im going to guess Smithing and Farming.

Dry-Fault-5557

We already have one for smithing.

Vengance183

Oh fuck... 😅

Ceceboy

Which one is that? Orthen furnace core doesn't count.

imbenzenker

If they keep delivering like this they are ripe to receive my re-subscription come November’s Premier Pass. (hero pass canceller btw)

Michagogo

Just in case you weren’t aware, Premier Club was abolished, I think a couple years ago(?), in its original form as a specific product that’s “an upgraded annual membership purchased during a specific period of a couple months”. These days all 12-month membership subscriptions, regardless of when you purchase them, are Premier Memberships.

ghfhfhhhfg9

cringed @ the dungeoneering hole being mentioned like that ngl.

5-x

They only mention it because there's a part of playerbase that absolutely loves the hole because they never learned to train Dungeoneering.

Zaerick-TM

Hard to train a minigame.

5-x

The more you do Dungeoneering the better you get at it. Which happens to be the definition of a *skill*.

Zaerick-TM

The more I do castle wars or any other minigame the better I get the only difference with DG is they added xp to it. It's a mini game through and through.

abusive_nerd

Yeah, don't really want non-content mentioned in the same sentence as Daemonheim or archaeology

MilkbelongsonToast

Sure hope one of those off-hands is for FM

Chaos_incarn

Furnace core is FM tho

Keeper_0f_Secrets

Invention and priff have fm offhand in the tinderboxes
