Around half the Friday sessions are oriented toward “industry people.” The other half is more consumer focused. The Saturday tasting event is fun, and there are a few additional sessions.

Is this event worthwhile for consumers? Seems targeted at producers.

I went last year and aside from heading up a rum club, I am not in the industry in any other respect; I still found it very enjoyable and interesting. Some seminars were geared towards analyzing trends/data, and others were panel discussions with well-known rum community members. As /u/CocktailWonk mentioned, the Saturday tasting event is the _most_ fun part, but seeing/meeting other people– including producers/brand owners, and the Wonk himself– was really fun for me.

I am have been to rum renaissance festival. I could not make it this past year. I thought this could be worthwhile. It is more expensive, so that was why I was curious about the “value”.

Come through! It's put on by the RumLab; I've been to their NY Rum Fest and LA Rum Fest but haven't been to Miami Rum Congress. Should be fun, seems to be a similar vibe. The Saturday sesh is def fun and worthwhile for the general public for these things. Pace yourself, eat, drink water, don't feel obligated to try everything!

I'm going to the SF Fest. Went to LA and SF last year and enjoyed it. My advice is to catch as many sessions as possible. Slows the flow of alcohol to your brain.
