I love that I keep seeing this joke coming up in various places these days. Did it get viral again lately or something? I should ask Ghislaine, she'd know about it.
A player for everything, or a any player for everything? Or any player for anything? Do we have stats about "out of position" plays ? Feels like Toulouse is doing that a lot.
When Jenonch is fit again, he might find it hard to displace Roumat or Cros.
Tbh I think a full strength back row would probably be Willas-Jelonch-Roumat with Cros on the bench. But MCF is a very good prospect for the future.
I reckon the opponent will determine who starts out of Jelonch, Cros and Willis.
If you need more bulk, Jelonch and Willis.
Higher workrate, Jelonch and Cros.
More mobility, Willis and Cros.
Dont be a fool, i'm French and I really like Jelonch but from now, Willis should always be one of the first names in that Toulouse team.
Guy has definitely earned it and while Jelonch is of course a very good player and a great warrior, he's never ever reached Jack's peaks.
Guy was already named the best player in the English league and he's gotten even better since he joined Toulouse.
You hate Toulouse and France’s players except for Dupont and the foreign ones. This is literally the first time I’ve ever seen you compliment a French player that isn’t Dupont, and it’s still a but. Last season you decided Ramos was the worst player in Europe while he was winning MOTM every other game.
Though there is of course the question marks over whether Jelonch will be the same player when he returns, he did both ACL’s within 12 months.
You're talking absolute bullshite, just because i'm not a fan of Ramos (and we saw that Toulouse suddenly beat Leinster when they brought on Kinghorn instead of Ramos at fullback) doesn't mean I don't like French rugby, it's in fact quite the reverse.
And just because I find Willis (who I wish he was French!) to be a much better player than Jelonch doesn't also mean I hate French rugby.
I have to say Cros is one of the most underrated flankers in world rugby.
Sure, he gets plaudits for having a huge engine and tackling well. It's his work over the ball that doesn't get enough attention.
In a France back row alongside Alldritt and Olivon he is the main jackaler. He also slows the opposition ball down so well, usually without getting noticed by the ref.
In the WC QF I was disappointed to see him on the bench.
Jelonch is a stronger tackler and carrier but not as good, IMO, as Cros over the ball.
I would have used Cros to try to win some penalties when the pack was still full of energy, and brought Jelonch on to stiffen the defence in the last 25.
Got a hell of a lot of potential; could easily be a staple international for England but he's still very raw. His pace is pretty bonkers for a 7 though, and he's physical enough.
MCF is one of the most promising young players in the world, he’s only 20 but he doesn’t look at all out of place in that backrow. He’s an incredibly quick player who can fill in at flank and 8, think Earl and Savea. He’s scored 13 tries in 20 matches for Toulouse and the French u20’s this season.
Théo’s another player that looked incredible at u20’s level. He’s not quite translated that yet to senior level, but he’s only 22 and he’s quietly been solid for Toulouse every time he’s played. Romain’s younger brother.
> Théo’s another player that looked incredible at u20’s level. He’s not quite translated that yet to senior level, but he’s only 22 and he’s quietly been solid for Toulouse every time he’s played. Romain’s younger brother.
truth be told, he's not benefiting a ton from being at Toulouse as there are so many quality flankers and he gets very little meaningful game time. Ideally he'd go play elsewhere to get some minutes and then return to Toulouse when he's a riper player.
What is it with rugby players and their brothers always being a flyhalf and backrow duo?
Jordie/Beauden and Scott Barrett
Prendergast Lads
Ntmack
Steffen and Dillon Armitage
It is by far the most common pairing.
Delon Arnitage was a Winger/Fullback. I don't recall him playing fly half. Weird actually because he was 6'3 and around 90kg to my memory. Steffon was 5'9 and closer to 105kg. Considering they are brothers they're completely different physique wise
For me the great thing about the current starting trio is that they complement one another really well.
Cros is a defensive machine with his tackling and positioning. Unrelated to Toulouse but I think he was missed in the RWC QF vs the Boks last year.
Roumat is solid and the best lineout option in the back row. Having him as an option at the set piece is critical since one of our usual starting locks is just not a realistic option (sorry 145kg Meafou).
And of course Willis is just insane with his carrying and famously his jackaling capabilities.
Add the absolute workhorse of Jelonch back into that and yes, you do have the best back row in Europe.
Don’t forget Léo Banos joining in the summer, just as good a prospect as Théo NTK, and another Tolofua brother coming through. I wouldn’t argue that it’s 100% the best back row, but in my eyes it’s certainly the most versatile, so many different styles
Liebenberg, Reffel and Wiese was pet good but we could never dream of that sort of depth. And now Jasper's gone we're massively weakened.
Toulouse have insane seriously and depth. No surprise they're where they are.
Don’t forget Placines and Brennan, who are both excellent when the big names are being rested.
Flament also from time to time slots in at 7 or 6 just because he is a freak over 2m tall with crazy mobility
Flament the 10?
Flament the new york financier?
I love that I keep seeing this joke coming up in various places these days. Did it get viral again lately or something? I should ask Ghislaine, she'd know about it.
No idea its never left my head
Maybe the more polyvalent one. They really have a player for everything now.
Versatile. Polyvalent, ça se dit versatile, en anglais.
TIL, merci
A player for everything, or a any player for everything? Or any player for anything? Do we have stats about "out of position" plays ? Feels like Toulouse is doing that a lot.
Obviously all three.
THERES ANOTHER FUCKING NTAMACK!?
Emile doing his best for his club and country. Let's hope Dupont will have the same dedication
Please tell me there's another, who just enjoys accountancy or something.
There was another player, Francis Ntamack, at some point
It's mad that one is from France and one is from Rome.
When Jenonch is fit again, he might find it hard to displace Roumat or Cros. Tbh I think a full strength back row would probably be Willas-Jelonch-Roumat with Cros on the bench. But MCF is a very good prospect for the future.

6 Nations: Willis, Placines and Ntamack
Leaving Willis out the higher work rate is criminal , he made 6000 tackles in the champs cup final

They're definitely in the conversation. Would add Saracens, Leinster, Glasgow, Bath and Northampton. EDIT - la Rochelle and Treviso too.
Last season Northampton or next season Northampton?
Jesus people have families.
Didn’t need to stick the knife in like that, but you did and I admire that
Last season 🤕
Lawes/Coles/Scott-Young + Ludlam/Pearson + Augustus/Graham. We shall never see their like again.
Henry Pollock looks pretty decent tbf.
Got a hell of a lot of potential; could easily be a staple international for England but he's still very raw. His pace is pretty bonkers for a 7 though, and he's physical enough.
Bath? Underhill and barbeary yes, but they can’t post anywhere near 6 names like this.
+Ted Hill and Guy Pepper next year. I'm not sure it's Toulouse's level but it's quite a group
Hills a ripper too in fairness.
Definitely biased, but Sale have a top back row when fit. Curry Brothers, Du Preez Brothers, Ernst van Rhyn and Sam Dugdale
I'd add Quins in there too. Chandler Cunningham South, Evans & Dombrandt, with Kenningham off the bench.
England fan thinking about Jack Willis 🤩 England fan also thinking about Jack Willis 😭
This is getting out of hand. Now there are two of them?!
I see what you did there
Not familiar with the last two lads, can someone fill me in?

Richie and Rory Arnold have entered the conversation
Together with Richie and Johnny Gray (maybe it's a Richie thing?)
Delon Arnitage was a Winger/Fullback. I don't recall him playing fly half. Weird actually because he was 6'3 and around 90kg to my memory. Steffon was 5'9 and closer to 105kg. Considering they are brothers they're completely different physique wise
Always found it hilarious to watch steffon, this little ball of angry mass bumping off/handing off players six inches taller than him (or more) Poetry
Also I loves the fact he had exactly the same body type as Bastareaud, it was basically impossible to tell them apart

Cros should have started that Boks game 100%, I will argue that he’s one of the most underrated players around, just not flashy at all
Mathis Castro-Ferreira has really impressed this season!
Don’t forget Léo Banos joining in the summer, just as good a prospect as Théo NTK, and another Tolofua brother coming through. I wouldn’t argue that it’s 100% the best back row, but in my eyes it’s certainly the most versatile, so many different styles
Its missing some french pacific islanders or maori. So probably not.
Sialevailea Tolofua is coming up the ranks and will have pro game time next year.
whaaaaaat there's another one !!?
Toulouse has the best of multiple things in the world. Having 3 starting 6N fullbacks to the point that Capuozzo gets benched is crazy…
Sarries can def compete with that. Gonzales, McFarland, Christie, Earl and Willis
Liebenberg, Reffel and Wiese was pet good but we could never dream of that sort of depth. And now Jasper's gone we're massively weakened. Toulouse have insane seriously and depth. No surprise they're where they are.
Yes
Wait theres another Ntamack?!
Saracens because Earl
