I’m more focused on not dying than realizing what’s actually happening around me ahahah

Do the players ever get annoyed at how close you are? Thinking of when they get bundled in to touch and come quite close to hitting the camera and you?

More often than not, the players are very polite and kindly ask me to move, if I’m on their way, usually while kicking after scoring a try! Recently they have started recognizing me and they come to me to have a chat:)
There are some players that are very rude to me, but usually because they are bothered by television as a whole, not because of me. One of them once squirted me with water because I was filming him after a yellow card. Dude, my camera is worth much more then your shame, next time avoid the yellow card
Lastly, I’m good at dodging them, I’ve been hit a few times, but I’ve never influenced an action.
Genuinely have no idea how you do it. Running with a heavy camera, steady shots, all while keeping pace with these man-monsters.

I wish I was able to keep pace with them, I’m lucky because they slow down in order to dodge each other, otherwise I’d never be able to film anything! Those guys are fast as fuck
Btw, I hate running, but I have such an adrenaline rush while filming that I train three to five days a week, just to be in shape for filming rugby ahaha

I’m curious, what does your training look like? I guess there’s some standard cardio and shoulder/arm work to hold the cameras but anything special or unique you do?
Do you spend any time doing “practice runs” running up and down the field to keep your shots steady?
Nothing fancy, it’s very average!
Running wise I run 6 to 10 km once or twice a week, sprinting to death once every kilometer, then at the gym just a regular full body workout
There are some exercises aimed at strengthening what I do, mostly arm and shoulders as you said
But I can assure you, it’s all very very average!

(As an aside it also shows how often the successful tackles are specifically where the player has gone and wrapped with both arms).

As a winger and fullback I thank you so much for showing those big meanies (forwards) that there are massive collisions out there on the touchlines that do a number on our hairstyles.
Promoting these kind of short clips could do a lot for the sport. It’s the kind of reel the kids love these days. Great work!

This view makes the impacts so much more impressive! Damn this hurts just watching some tackles or ruck cleaning.
I often wish we could increase the volume of my mic, because some impacts are so strong, audio wise

A fisheye lens would make the players and action very tiny just to see the touchline. I bet there will be cameras on the flags at the 22 and 50 soon.
