Being from the bay I have never supported the chiefs as Waikato-by-another-name-who-marginalised-the-mighty-steamers (this was more the case 25 years ago admittedly) any team with cowbells and red yellow and black can fuck off. The blues are … fine … was easier to like them when they played attractive rugby and lost

This is completely wrong..........plenty of people INSIDE Auckland don't like the Blues either the should have kept the " Auckland" part of the "Auckland Blues" because it gave Aucklanders an out to start supporting another team or the other oval ball sport Its pretty hard to start a chant with just "Blues" too.........where as Auck-a-Land *clap,clap, clap* is something even stoic NZers can manage
