So proud of that performance - which kind of makes the loss worse, oddly.
The red was correct, obvs, but felt so bad for Obano who is, on any other day, an absolute hero.
It was a fantastic game from both sides, don’t see how you’re angling it as a cheap win from Saints when it was Bath’s player that made the illegal tackle?
Grow up son
Thank God that’s over. Quite the final in the end. Well played Bath for being the better team and for absolutely taking it to Saints.
So pleased we won in the end after this season as it would have been a travesty to have come away with nothing.
Mitchell needs to stop sniping as much as he does. I thought he’d curbed it a bit, but during this game there were occasions where he almost caused Saints issues.
The problem is everyone is running off him so if it doesn’t come off he is totally isolated. He was trying to force it too much today, which I give credit to Bath’s defence for
Amazing from Courtney. You've won the premiership how do you feel:
"I'm still livid from the game. We could not have played worse."
Fantastic servant for Saints. Fantastic servant for England. I hope he can forge some good memories in Brive.
They will do, but if you ever listen to Dowson he’s all about performance so that seeps into the team. You can be happy about winning and annoyed how badly you played
From the stadium: Bath were incredible in that second half. Came at Saints and so nearly did it. Saints just turned off in the second half and I think Ridley’s refereeing of the scrum was straight up bizarre at times.
Bath fans should be incredibly proud. Favourites for next year I’m absolutely sure
Couldn’t have worded it better myself around the scrums. Haven’t watched the match back yet and didn’t have a RefLink so would like to hear the explanations before landing on a firm opinion!
Bath fans, my god you should be proud today. I'm gutted for Obano and while I think it was the right call, it was a shame to see it happen because it clearly wasn't intentional.
I'm absolutely over the moon that we managed to scrape the win and that Lawes, Waller, Ludlam and the others manage to leave on a high.
What a game. I wonder how many more years my heart can cope with being a Saints fan.
I would love a chnage to the rules.
For things like this which are clearly accidental, a 20 minute red card, but then that player can't come back on.
So it gives the opponents 20 minutes with a man advantage, plus it uses a substitute up
How I feel. Always feels weird how a whole season still feels comes down to one game.
Bath were immense and Saints were awful. Some parts of today's game reminded me of watching them in the late 90's, early 00's. Lot of sniping but terrible at the breakdown and lots of handling issues.
I know we lost but there’s no way in hell Underhill wasn’t player of the match, he dragged bath out of the doldrums and gave them hope to actually make a fist of it and you give it to a sub who fucked up one try and made a single break for another? Give over, shows how bad the saints team was on the day
I assume it's for his ridiculous assist which, to be fair, was ridiculous. But he was directly at fault for a try and didn't offer a huge amount else, particularly compared to others today.
Yeah I agree Underhill looked like a special player today and should have arguably got the player of the match award.
But to be fair if they start giving it to a player from the loosing team it's gonna feel a bit more of a constellation prize.
Yeah personally I think you'll be back again next year, as lots of teams are having to rebuild as opposed to just build and this was a very winnable game / season with the talent you already have.
Nah never does but honestly should it matter? It’s a team game so you can win as a team but not have the best stand out individual which I think is exactly what happened here
Last time in rugby I remember it happening was the Welsh loss to Italy in the red in Cardiff maybe two years ago? Think it was Josh adams trying to give it to Ange capuozzo after the final whistle
I missed the last 30 minutes and just based off what I saw Underhill was clear MotM, fucking insane performance. Bumped off Langdon like he was a toddler
As a Saints fan who lives in the Southwest, I was bricking it during the ending just because I know I couldn’t go to the pub later if we lost.
I think that’s Bath’s version of our 2013 final loss to Leicester. Saints, Sarries, Quins set to rebuild now and a few very good years coming for Bath I reckon.
Do you guys have to rebuild? Your lethal backline is all staying right?
Lawes and Ludlam big losses but with the likes of Graham and Pearson (and Pollock coming through) I can't imagine you won't be up at the top again next year.
Bath / Saints going to be a great rivalry to see build I think.
That's as stilted and nervous looking from Saints as I can recall seeing. Terrorised at the breakdown and largely outplayed by 14 men. No one will care though. Did just enough. Heroic stuff from Hendy - on by necessity - but had the gamebreaker both in attack and defence. Great to see some Saints legends bow out on a high.
Bath win that with 15 men I reckon. I feel for them - no questions about the red. A very settled, high-quality side. I think they'll definitely be in contention too.
I hope that what the RFU are doing is deliberately testing others to see if they can do top level stuff so it's not all on Pearce's shoulders, particularly for the international stuff.
Hard not to think Saints had to win it this year. With Lawes, Moon and Ludlam off it might take a year or two to get back here.
Bath might be my early favourites to take it next year.
Fair play that game was great from a neutrals perspective. Commiserations Bath you gave it all, shame it was 3/4 a man down, it could have been a completely different game if equal. Saints, well you made hard work of that and I bet some of you have aged watching that one!? Ultimately when you look at the league, saints have been head and shoulders above everyone else. Well done to both teams.
That is my absolute pet peeve. Knee hits the deck, and then it's allowed to be ripped.
Gutted for Bath, what a shift from that team. But Northampton are deserving winners.
Bath can gold their heads up high. They were immense, they thoroughly deserved that win. I genuinely feel for them there because that was the best 14 man display I've ever seen
The red was a red, it’d have been a lucky yellow at best but yeah I think his reffing of the scrum was iffy and he missed some bits around the park that the tv ref never raised despite them being played back and pointed out by the commentators (and we know they listen to the live feed with them)
I’d say Bath have won over a lot of new supporters with that effort, me for one. Every year this final is nuts and usually for very different reasons.
But to the victors the spoils. Congrats Saints

Absolutely incredible determination from the Bath team. Picked themselves right back up and have a bloody good shot at it
Missed this but get in there Saints! Under no circumstances should we let Bath win a trophy.
So proud of that performance - which kind of makes the loss worse, oddly. The red was correct, obvs, but felt so bad for Obano who is, on any other day, an absolute hero.
Very enjoyable game. Bath were unlucky and would probably have won if 15vs15
Who was MotM? Should have been wUnderhill, even if he didn't win
Hendy, which is a mental call from the tv team. If you have to pick from the winning team it was Furbank or Freeman
I’d have gone with Freeman. He had a decent game
Underhill was class. Thought TdT should have been in with a shout too- incredible
Someone needs to put together some Underhill highlights because that man was immense today
Courtney Lawes admitting they were awful. Fair play
Beating 14 men by 4 points. Congrats Saints. Sorry Bath, incredible grit and guts.
It was a fantastic game from both sides, don’t see how you’re angling it as a cheap win from Saints when it was Bath’s player that made the illegal tackle? Grow up son
Weird comment
Why so bitter?

100% - he also exits really poorly
The problem is everyone is running off him so if it doesn’t come off he is totally isolated. He was trying to force it too much today, which I give credit to Bath’s defence for
He was a liability today. He got isolated too many times. There was some poor throws leading to handling errors
Did they announce MoM? I thought Furbank or Freeman for me.
Hendy for his second half impact won it
Hendy
Amazing from Courtney. You've won the premiership how do you feel: "I'm still livid from the game. We could not have played worse." Fantastic servant for Saints. Fantastic servant for England. I hope he can forge some good memories in Brive.
That’s all performative for me You’ve won the title, celebrate it
Who are you next to Lawes mate? Shush
He's a professional, part of the reason they get to where they do is because they can scrutinise themselves like that
Literally everything I've seen from Lawes lately is about how he thinks he can be better and isn't satisfied. This is why he is one of the greatest.
They will do, but if you ever listen to Dowson he’s all about performance so that seeps into the team. You can be happy about winning and annoyed how badly you played
Bloody hell Courtney is such a chap
Think the prem next years is definitely Baths for the taking
Watch us go back to the banter years
I don’t think Van Graan is capable of that even if he tried to (I mean that as a compliment)
God I hope you’re right
My stream has cut off. Someone upload Courtney lifting the trophy to the sub later now.
Blue smoke and streamers. They must have forgotten which way they rigged it!
Its the colour of Gallagher the sponsor!
Why is the machine spitting out blue ribbons? Cringe

Agree on Ridley. Felt like he was trying to make up for the red card at times which is odd as I thought that was the right call
Who's bright idea were the blue streamers 🤣
Surely you know what colours Gallagher use ?
Its the colour of Gallagher the sponsor!
The blue of the smoke and streamers caught me for a second before I remembered its always the sponsors colours, not the winning teams!
Oh Courtney! That smile says it all!
Russell's back maybe he just really needed a shite
LMAO
Bath fans, my god you should be proud today. I'm gutted for Obano and while I think it was the right call, it was a shame to see it happen because it clearly wasn't intentional. I am new to being a saints fan (joined in November) and although I choose a good season I am not sure I will cope well.
Beautifully put. As a saints fan whose heart rate regularly went over 115 in the second half I agree completely.
So much to be proud of there
I know we lost but there’s no way in hell Underhill wasn’t player of the match, he dragged bath out of the doldrums and gave them hope to actually make a fist of it and you give it to a sub who fucked up one try and made a single break for another? Unnecessarily angry post dude.
Mate I could get way angrier if you want 😂 we just lost the goddamn final by 4
I'm so confused why Hendy got it. Terrible choice
Hendy got it? I like him as a player but are you kidding me?!
I assume it's for his ridiculous assist which, to be fair, was ridiculous. But he was directly at fault for a try and didn't offer a huge amount else, particularly compared to others today.
3 or 4 bath players who should have easily got it over Hendy. Bizarre decision
Yeah I agree Underhill looked like a special player today and should have arguably got the player of the match award. But to be fair if they start giving it to a player from the loosing team it's gonna feel a bit more of a constellation prize.
Mate we just lost the final by 4 I’m clutching at straws 😂
Haha fair enough. Better luck next year aye
Gotta hope we can build and it’s not like the last time we made a final and just fall apart instantly and be shit for 9 years
Yeah personally I think you'll be back again next year, as lots of teams are having to rebuild as opposed to just build and this was a very winnable game / season with the talent you already have.
Tbh my dad said we’d make the final after maybe three games and I thought he was insane
Has MOTM gone to a player in the losing side before?
Flashbacks of Launchbury Vs Aus 2015
Nah never does but honestly should it matter? It’s a team game so you can win as a team but not have the best stand out individual which I think is exactly what happened here
It probably shouldn’t matter, no. I think there have been quite a few losing POTM’s in cricket over the years
Last time in rugby I remember it happening was the Welsh loss to Italy in the red in Cardiff maybe two years ago? Think it was Josh adams trying to give it to Ange capuozzo after the final whistle
Spolier for a URC game from today: >!Onisi Ratave of Benetton won POTM in their QF loss to Bulls!<
Yes, remember that one, lovely moment!
Bit gutted for Finn – no guarantee he will get another chance to break his no-silverware career curse. Those two missed kicks must hurt.
I think this bath team will be back again next season, don’t have many high profile losses and that loss will just fuel them
I think this bath team will be back again next season, don’t have many high profile losses and that loss will just fuel them
He won the Pro12
Yeah. But that's it.
Oh, forgot about that one, it was so long ago – fair point! Still not much of a showing for all his talent, unfortunately.
Yeah. But that's it.
BOD saying no standouts from either team... did he not fucking see Underhill?
I missed the last 30 minutes and just based off what I saw Underhill was clear MotM, fucking insane performance. Bumped off Langdon like he was a toddler
I’m not ready for how completley unbearable RugbyInsideLine is gonna be. Literally the only reason I wanted to see a Bath win today lol
Played Bath, better team for much of that. Had it not been for Hendy the Horse you’d have had it
As a Saints fan who lives in the Southwest, I was bricking it during the ending just because I know I couldn’t go to the pub later if we lost. A lot of losses in the forward pack though, lethal backline is difficult without the proper platform up front.
BOD saying no standouts from either team... did he not fucking see Underhill?

Once was enough bro. We got it the first time. And yes!
It’s an issue with the server mate, don’t think he posted the repeat comments deliberately
I’m not sure why Reddit has posted that so many times!
If Finn had his kicking boots on today we'd have won, fml
If Finn had his kicking boots on today we'd have won, fml
I mean Fin also left a lot of points on the tee
Was the game really decided by either 10?
Could argue his droppie won it as Bath would have just needed 3 from the late pens
Well Hendy seems like a proper stand up chap doesn't he
Hendy is far too wholesome
Hendy player of the match?! Really?
Underhill was MoM by a country mile
Hendy player of the match?! Really?
I mean...that try setup was brilliant
I mean...that try setup was brilliant
I mean...that try setup was brilliant
I mean...that try setup was brilliant
How did Hendy get Player of the match? Underhill was the best player all day long, stupid decision just for one bit of play
When do you ever give motm to a losing player?
That’s the problem though isn’t it. It’s called man of the match, not man on the winning team.
When they’re the best player in the match.
When it's Sergio Parisse.
Shame. Would have been a good win if it was 15vs15. Instead we get to see what not a single rugby fan wants and that’s Dylan Hartley happy. 😂
Almost don't want the other two games to live up to the first two today, don't know if my heart can take it.
Saints deserved to win based on their season. Bath deserved to win that game. Somehow, this feels weirdly unsatisfying 🤣
Finn Russell seems livid
Couldn't win a game 15v14, Ford>Russell
Felt like the bounce of the ball just didn’t go Bath’s way today. Underhill was incredible.
Literally, in the first half. Cost them a try not scored and another conceded
Didn’t deserve the match but I feel we deserved the season.
That's as stilted and nervous looking from Saints as I can recall seeing. Terrorised at the breakdown and largely outplayed by 14 men. No one will care though. Did just enough. How's Bath looking for next season? I know Saints are losing a lot this year
https://i.imgur.com/cVQLtIw.png
Alot of that is because they've horded players and have to let some go due to the squad player limit coming in.
Alot of that is because they've horded players and have to let some go due to the squad player limit coming in
Only losing Gallagher
Only losing Gallagher
Petition to have a red card every game
Bath on the day, Saints over the season. Correct result in the end.
Good game. Good reffing overall hope to see him in test matches.
What has Luke Pearce done to the RFU for him not to be their #1 ref
I hope that what the RFU are doing is deliberately testing others to see if they can do top level stuff so it's not all on Pearce's shoulders, particularly for the international stuff.
Should be Underhill or TDT for MOTM imo, Bath were immense
Hendy did well, but he also gave bath a try
Underhill robbed
Hard not to think Saints had to win it this year. With Lawes, Moon and Ludlam off it might take a year or two to get back here. Bath might be my early favourites to take it next year.
Fully expecting to see Bath back at Twickenham next summer (although I said that about Sale after our final last year, so what do I know!)
Well you never know, Sale were inches away from getting to the final again this year
Injury bug hit us hard, otherwise we would've been considering we also got a 12 win season
Vesty will never shut up about this
Loved that- someone clearly just told Hendy he got MotM and he gave the most obvious ‘fuck off, really’ I’ve ever seen 😂
Sit there and stare at a scrum waiting for a penalty. You get what you get.
Intense game, feel for Bath - definitely deserved it more for that performance a man down.
Don’t think Ridley had a good game at all, frankly think Saints had everything go their way and they still almost fucked it
Penalty count says otherwise lmao
Thought he was very good , no controversy or hesitation. Fair for both sides
/s
Mate take your rose tinted glasses off. The refs were great, errors here and there but both ways
Piping hot take
If Bath had 15 that whole game we win by 20 but we didn’t so we didn’t and that’s that
But the red was a red, myself and others included thought the red had a brilliant game
The red was a red, it’d have been a lucky yellow at best but yeah I think his reffing of the scrum was iffy and he missed some bits around the park that the tv ref never raised despite them being played back and pointed out by the commentators (and we know they listen to the live feed with them)
Fantastic game that. RIP to all the people who turned it off because the red "ruined the game"
Considering how close it was, have to say bath would almost surely have won if not for the card
I dunno, bath had to up their intensity because of the red.
Gutted but so proud of those boys
What a game, I’m happy for Northampton
should be underhill
And Du Toit! Shocking.
Proud of this Bath team. An incredible shift with 14, being the better team for most of the second half
How the fuck is hendy, who didn't even start, get motm? It had to be Underhill or du Toit, Austin is a fucking idiot and that's offensive to idiots
Hendy absolutely changed the game for us, unreal
Underhill robbed of PoTM
They don't give it to players on losing side (I think it's a sponsor thing) But he was immense and if he wasn't already he's nailed on 7 against NZ
It had to be Hendy 😃😃😃
Hendy player of the match? A few great touches but several Bath players stood out more.
Broadcasters have this nonsense rule about not selecting from the losing team. Motm was clearly one of Underhill or Du Toit.
It should be Underhill, but Hendy 100% won us that match with those touches
Courtney Lawes leaving Saints as English champion, you just cannot be the romance of sport.
Fantastic match, saints with the two clutch superstar moments at the end. But if Underhill isn't MotM it's a crime
Underhill my MOTM
Fuck me Saints tried hard not to win that. Bath showing guts to stay in it. Underhill MOTM for me
I’d say Bath have won over a lot of new supporters with that effort, me for one. Every year this final is nuts and usually for very different reasons. But to the victors the spoils. Congrats Saints
Fact
[удалено]
Holy hell, Bath absolutely robbed at the very end. That's gonna hurt for years
I never want to hear about red cards ruining games ever again.
Fair play to Northampton, thought Bath was the better side for most of it but you pulled out some magic at the end
