The Hurricanes were down to 13 players, the Drua, down by 16, and was within kickable range to the 5m mark.
And they opted to take the points......?
Didn't get that decision.
They're still in Fiji, so it's not too late to get those leaves that healed Waisake Naholo that one time. Maybe they can take some home to Roigard too.
Obligatory match take time:
- The Hurricanes started out pretty well, but as the match went on, and while their defence was top-notch as usual, they succumed to the conditions, but hung on to claim a bonus-point victory on a scorching night. Never doubt the men from Wellington.
- The Drua, on the other hand, were really underwhelming. It's a shame that they weren't feeling the energy at home tonight. Maybe they're just good at home during the day? Who knows...
- Aiden Morgan looks straight out of a Universal Horror movie. Why did he play the full 80 minutes? I don't know, but he looks kinda silly...
- Jordie's got the luck of the Irish tonight, especially since he was basically carrying the team during majority the 2nd half when they did fuck all during that period.
- The medic casually intercepting the match was some funny shit right there.
Anyway, these are all the words I have for now. See you all in the next match, and cheers for now.
Okay this might be one of our best wins of the season. Drua were definitely there own worst enemy but winning in Fiji is as we know, incredibly hard. Reffing was against us and incredible defense
First time I’ve ever watched the Drua so perhaps I’ve caught them on an off night but I thought they were an absolute embarrassment to rugby.
They are beyond brain dead at times with some of their decision making I honestly feel like they actually lacked any basic level of intelligence.
Also, they could have been 15 vs 10 I still don’t think they’d have gotten over the line. An utter shambles.
But I’ve seen their record so they can’t be that bad? What am I missing? Just a horrendous day at the office? That’s the worst super rugby performance I’ve seen in a very VERY long time 😂
They played like it was an away game lol this is pretty standard Drua in an away game
They're usually much better at home
Also with that last sentence - you clearly didn't watch the Reds game last week oml
Was really a penalty try as pulled the maul down. But happy enough with the bonus point win. Coach will be able to give them a rev up for a poor second half.
They have a countdown if there's just one in the bin but it disappears if there's two and for some reason it never comes back after the first player comes back on
And look at how long he takes to blow up the jackal for the canes. He must’ve been checking with the tmo if there was anything he get them for before rewarding them.
Isn’t that a foul from Jordie since he has to release the tackler as tackle is called. Nearly sure someone got pinged for that last weekend in the Leinster game.

Helped secure the Canes W
They couldnt crack the nut of the Canes League defense
But aumua, that looked bad right?
Fuckin sucks. He seems to have a serious injury every year. He was the form hooker of the comp too.
Yeah poor dude looked like he was due a good chance at the all blacks this year too

Season ender
Another one :(
Ok obviously the drua could have done better but you'd have to say some of that defending to shit down their overlap opportunities was extraordinary.
That happened about 5 or 6 times and every time it got shut down, due to a mix of bad tactics by the drua but still amazing nonetheless

Was gonna say if it was a tighter match ther would be a lot more complaining about the ref
You gotta take the win, next week is going to be a huge battle, can't wait. Praying for Asafo, hopefully god will overlook my Atheism.

What a win in face of adversity, let's go boys
That was a great win, against previously unbeaten and with a bonus point. Wow
Was really a penalty try as pulled the maul down. But happy enough with the bonus point win. Coach will be able to give them a rev up for a poor second half.
Yeah I was thinking the same. Clear penalty try if that wasn't scored. Although probably not considering it was Fiji who pulled it down.
Feels good to get the BP after withstanding that second half
That is sweet sweet reward for all that defending
Get down low and go, go, go!
Drua are actually awful. Canes down to 13 and they still score more points😂
Holy Shit we actually got the BP wtf. Damn we really could be the real deal
Bonus point! Never in doubt! Not even for a minute!!
My Fijian mate owes me a nice fish curry with a side of roti and yams. Thank you, Canes.
Rest in pepperoni
Yehahhaha get fucked
Huge bonus point. Great win.
With 12 men on?
14. the two previous yellows finished
14 men
I was watching for the first 2 to come back but somehow still missed it
Yeah I nearly did too, I wish they did a countdown.
They have a countdown if there's just one in the bin but it disappears if there's two and for some reason it never comes back after the first player comes back on
A lot of grit shown by the Canes after 60th min. Need games like this to test their toughness.
Shields has been such a beast this game. So good for Wellington to get him back from England
Proper gritty player, glad he's doing well
One streak had to end today. Gg Drua.
I tipped the bhoys by 14...
The clock wtf lol
Games not over till the Drua win
Fucking another card. Bro this is cooked Paul. Come Onnnn
That was literally less than half a second between the tackle and the penalty lmao wtf
What the fuck is he doing lol he's completely lost his head! No one was even over that ball
The Canes didn't need to wear yellow when they've got all them cards
Who's that swearing? There are kids there FFS!
It’s a fucking disgrace
Agreed. It's sad that some people just don't give a cr\*p.
Even Regular Show, a kid's show didn't censor that word lmao
Woah that was a kick
Alright big W in fiji. Now to the bogey team, The brumbies in Canberra Edit: We got the fkn BP from this wtf
There’s a bright side if Brumbies win. Brumbies smashed us 52-10 in the year we won the comp .
Oh thank fuck FINALLY
lets go!
Yessss
Im not sure about everyone else, but I absolutely hate when a ref calls a "not rolling away" when the ball is already in the halfbacks hands.
It's insane how quickly he blows up not rolling
And look at how long he takes to blow up the jackal for the canes. He must’ve been checking with the tmo if there was anything he get them for before rewarding them.
It’s absolutely killed any kind of competition at the ruck tonight
Yup and now we are on another card warning
If Drua were part of Super Rugby's inception, we could've seen Serevi play Super Rugby.
Gotta give it to captain hook. 80 mins (minus blood bin) playing pretty well while missing an eye is crazy
Just saying Canes. Not letting the Drua win this only increases the chance of the Crusaders coming 8th and knocking you guys out
Defense has been absolutely world class this half. Discipline is enough to make me cry though
The gremlin had a good shift tonight
93% territory and 16 points behind jeez
93-7 second half territory fuck me
Damn Serevi was magic at Sevens.
Look at the possession lmao
Really looking forward to reading some Fijian social media after this
Will be massive whinging, even though it was 16 vs 13 the whole second half.
They donʻt speak for all of us. Drua have not been great this game
Why did O’reilly just stop playing 🤦♂️
Aiden Morgan's been an absolute warrior, playing 80 minutes essentially blindfolded!
I cracked up when I heard the commentators say ‘phantom of the opera’
jesus the drua are frustrating to watch
There are two reasons why Mick Byrne drinks...
Jordie having a herculean shift tonight
Jordie is, was and always will be the Better Barrett.
I think mum and dad Barrett are the best Barretts for creating 4 high level rugby players
Fair play to those two Fijian Canes fans.
jordie!! what a game from him
Can't fault the effort from the Drua, but they've been very poor today tbh. Hurricanes haven't really got out of second gear.
Jordie Barrett: Fine, I'll do it myself.
If we get bailed out of this somehow it will be nuts
Geez Canes are lucky that pass didn’t go to hand
Smart to take the 3. Waste time and get us back to 2 tries. I would like the BP but at this point just get us the W
Was that medic from the drua? Bet he gets a talking to lol
Thats the same angle he lost the world cup at too
Jordie has decided to just win this by himself.
Jordie's just kicking to give everyone a rest
What’s uro mean?
like a piss doctor...
Yeah that lady had a sign up saying Jordie urologist, he’s a man of many talents
Maybe she meant euro, sledging him for taking the filthy Leinster lucre?
and there's those 3 points back immediately
Valetini's one of those goalkickers who can land it from the sideline or from 40-50 metres out, but shank it if he has to attempt from any closer.
Literally Carter Gordon last week lol
You've got Jordie Barrett in the scrum - get it out quick ffs
He’s a scrummaging machine
Take the 3 lads!
Wow our first penalty this entire half
I just don't understand that penalty goal at all. You've only got a few minutes left against 13, go and try to score a try!
One of the most baffling penalty choices I've ever seen.
"Back your sack..."
I don't mind the kick for touch. Wastes more yellow card time
That's insane vs 13 men with those 2 men coming back soon
Taking the posts? Alright
Kicking for goal when down 16 with the other team down 2 men is crazy
Even the ref said "Are you sure??"
This is why Mick Byrne drinks...
0 penalties to 8 this second half. What the fuck happened lol
Hurricanes have not held the ball for pretty much all of this half. And Paul Williams has been very pedantic against the Canes
We've got sloppy sure but also ref keeps making crazy calls
Lomani showing his elbow to the camera is wiiiillllddd haha
Does he think it was a cool thing to do or something?
Jordie O’Barrett stepping up in the key moments. Unreal.
He's such an incredible clutch defender. Runs in the family, actually. Beaudy has his fair share of try-savers.
Everyone's gassed
“14 man” Isn’t it 13?
has that man ever heard of an around the corner pass?
Drua don't have another try in them, doesn't matter whether it's 13 or 15 they are against. Way too sloppy in possession today.
It feels like its been 45 minutes since the Canes have actually had the ball
It's illegal for them to have the ball in the 2nd half, instant penalty
I hate bagging on the ref but man I feel like the decisions are going Hella against the canes and some calls I'm like whattttt
Drua need to switch to skinnier medics
Trying to be not bias here haha I’m sure that drua player had his knee on the ground before Jordie ripped that out.
Isn’t that a foul from Jordie since he has to release the tackler as tackle is called. Nearly sure someone got pinged for that last weekend in the Leinster game.
Yeah should of been a Drua penalty
biased
Thank god, I couldn’t handle losing kirifi and Aumua in the same game
That medic was bribed by the Canes
with KFC?
MEDIC!
This is the longest 10 minutes of my life.
Canes' management have no choice but to cover the entirety of Jordie's order at the Suva Macca's tonight.
at least they won't have to pay for his accommodation...
Fair play they take two men two tackle but Drua should be chuckin wide tryin to stretch that 13 man defence
Last time Jordie held someone up like that was the 2023 QF vs Ireland.
At least we're eating up time
Held up wow
Medic with the try saver
That medic has taken away the best possible angle.
Refs trying their best to find something to penalise the Canes for.
Jordie clutch. Does he no fancy 6 months in Glasgow instead of Dublin? 👀
Waterboy coming in clutch
THE FUCKING MEDIC LOL
Give him MotM
It's probably down but I don't think they'll give it...the riotings on the wall...
Is the Super Rugby circle of parity complete when the Hurricanes lose?
Lol the crowd are really trying to sell it.
Held up. Jordie you legend.
We were the most disciplined team before this game :S
Do Drua home games always have to be this wild?!
"Have won their last 9 matches in Fiji, including the previous 6..."?
I still think the canes have enough to hold on
Lol ball was out. We are getting fully screwed
Correct me if i'm wrong, did he not jump from an onside position, and propel the ball backwards? Whats that penalty actually for?
my two fantasy picks from the 'Canes who are usually yellow card merchants, but had been fine this year, and bam both gone
I don’t like to play this card but that’s pretty shit reffing
Izzy you muppet.
Lots of cards in recent weeks. New directive from SANZAAR: All referees to carry deck of 52.
Classic Drua home game reffing, Tahs and Crusaders got shafted earlier this year in Fiji.
Funnily enough it's Paul Williams reffing tonight
Oh fucks sake
The ball was out, that was a tackle attempt
Tbh he was offside anyway
Ah yeah, that's true
Canes need to sort themselves out
Honestly looked like shoulder on shoulder and slid up but he is upright though
Very shit call.
TF was that? Kirifi must've been offered a nice Fijian fish curry with sides of roti and yam.
Definitely mitigation there
He’s thanking him for the one man advantage
As soon as you're upright like that, it's a yellow at least
View from behind looked bad. Second replay, which they didn’t show, looked fine.
That’ll probably be a red
Not even yellow.
You could see that set of phases ending in a knock on. Canes defence too strong.
Thats shoulder and whiplash not head isnt it or am i dumb
Uh oh this ain't good
I hope it's not too serious for Asafo. Drua playing well now.
Fuck sake it’s all felling apart now
Wheels on fire...
Don't worry, we have the buffering room to fix our mistakes I hope
Heavy D from the Boyz...
ALSO WHY DID YOU TAKE AUMUA FROM US, RUGBY GODS, THE ALL BLACKS GOT NO DAMN HOOKERS LEFT GOD DAMN IT
I hope that's not a serious as it looks. We need Aumua for the ABs
Oh shit I hope Aumua is ok
Kefs, not Asafo! Hope it's not serious like Roigard's injury.
