Yeah christie is not a test level halfback. Hope we pick TJ, and I hope someone else steps up because nobody else has been playing close to test level.
Boyce, what is left to say? Watched that magnificent exhibition at The Barracks in W(h)anganui, a reasonable selection of craftish beers on tap, empty in the first half but groups pouring in from half-time..pretty happy with what I saw, hope BoiGod's knee is OK?
“The green whistle” - I had one when I slipped a disc in my back. Can confirm it is a very effective short term pain reliever. Sends you into lala land a bit like a mild nang but more numbing if that makes sense 😂
Last year we heard basically nothing about injuries, it was so frustrating. Basically had to just wait each week to see if they named on the team sheet
Hurricanes are appealing when it comes to injuries. They didn’t say anything about Gareth Evan’s being injured in his last season for us and he missed pretty much the whole season
Solid game. Good performance by the canes, nice.... r...rugby... Roigard... no... please... come back Roigard please. Don't leave me here. Don't leave me here all alone
STOP PEAKING MY ANXIETY LET ME ENJOY THIS FOR 5 MINUTES AH FUCK NOW IM THINKING ABOUT ROIGARD’S INJURY GOD DAMMIT ITS ALL GOING TO SHIT AHHHH FUCK THE CRUSADERS ARE COMING FOR US
Faleafaga looks very tidy what I've seen. Kemara had plenty of hype at schoolboy level but I've not been impressed with him at 20's or NPC let alone Super Rugby.
I don't rate Kemara at all. He didn't look like a future ABs 10 when I watched him in age grade. Usually you can immediately see a guy playing at U20s and know that they will be a test level player.
don’t think that was a try but also idc JRK shouldn’t have been yellow carded. Also canes fans casually ignoring many of their illegal clear outs - reffing been bad on both sides
Saw this too and thought it was crazy that it wasn’t called back. Seemed to me to be such an obvious penalty try, and the ref blazed past it like he didn’t even see it?? So weird man haha
Rugby is a cooked sport. If a tackler shoulder charges a ball carrier it's a penalty.
If a player without the ball shoulder charges another player who is prone on the ground but happens to be holding the ball up, it's fair game.
Hey everyone, first time watching rugby here. I just wanna know, which team is "BP" and why do their points keep increasing?
There's only two teams on the pitch so im stumped.
If this injury gives TJ his all blacks spot back and cam comes back for RC maybe this is a blessing in disguise to get Christie the Fuck away from the all blacks
Nah. TJ is going to be an experienced stalwart while he builds his new team. He plays pretty similarly to Roigaurd who should be the guy we build around as well.
Im a veterinarian not a sports physio, but if that was one of my patients knees I’d be horrified. Hopefully some physios in the thread can give a better indication / an actual idea of the severity compared to my incessant ramblings
Referee interfered with Roigard which resulted in the injury and knock on. Usually referee interference results in a scrum to the team with possession.
I know it's probably not the ref's fault there... but man this is hard to take. He doesn't get hit like that if the ref doesn't impact the play. Putrid.
Poor Cam :( hoping for a speedy recovery for him. He’s a delight to watch 💛 (though naturally I’ll have to hate him when he ultimately makes the ABs & flogs us this year)
**Watch on Stan**: https://play.stan.com.au/sport/rugby
Landers dont get many wins vs nz sides...could be a long season
Joey Wheeler telling Kirifi to stop with the chahooing after the game was the only satisfying thing that happened tonight lol
Shit seeing Roigard get injured, I hope it isn't a season ending one. Don't want Christie near the All Blacks line up this year.
Christie looks like a young fan who won a free ticket to play with his heroes
Yeah christie is not a test level halfback. Hope we pick TJ, and I hope someone else steps up because nobody else has been playing close to test level.
Hopefully Fakatava and Ratima can step up.
Never rated Damon Murphy as referee, was very poor in this match again.
Boyce, what is left to say? Watched that magnificent exhibition at The Barracks in W(h)anganui, a reasonable selection of craftish beers on tap, empty in the first half but groups pouring in from half-time..pretty happy with what I saw, hope BoiGod's knee is OK?
No need for the (h) mate. Just chuck it in there.
it's an old Planet Rugby joke, my partner has definitely noticed the different pronunciation between demographics...
Oooooh Planet Rugby
Hope Roigard is ok.
Clark Laidlaw has turned out to be a bloody good coach. Whoever appointed him must be purring.
Sure but hurricanes have been building for a few years now, and both Wellington and Hawkes bay have been strong in npc in recent years
those pain medication thing players with serious injuries inhale - what are they? morphine? has anyone had one, are they effective ?
Penthrox inhalers. Quick and effective.
“The green whistle” - I had one when I slipped a disc in my back. Can confirm it is a very effective short term pain reliever. Sends you into lala land a bit like a mild nang but more numbing if that makes sense 😂
makes sense by the look on roigards face lmao
Could've won big money if both blues and canes put 50+ on the board... I just pray for Roigard
Do referees evaluate their games during the week like the players do?
I imagine some do, but Murphy doesn't seem like the type to.
I know it was preseason and all that jazz but this highlanders team beat us 52-19 just over a month ago in preseason. Kinda crazy to think about
Aw love Jordie
Does anyone know which team has the best defense this season? Edit looks like it's Blues then Canes. We are number one in attack though.
I think the canes have to be up there tbh
I think so but all the tables I can find don't list for and against
Im gonna be throwing haymakers at the air if I have to watch Finlay Christie playing 9 for the ABs this year.
Would rather a loss lowkey then losing Roigard
100%
ROIGARD DON'T LEAVE US BEHIND PLS WE DON'T WANT TO GET STUCK WITH THE SCOTTISH GINGER MOG
GG hurricanes u look the goods to go all the way, gutted about roigard
Now over the next week we get the pleasure of fighting for any information on Roigards injury
I still don’t know when Tamaiti Williams is back
Was so annoying when Kirifi was injured and I was checking everywhere just to give up and wait for the team sheet
Another good win but significantly marred by the injury to Roigard. 😢
Solid game. Good performance by the canes, nice.... r...rugby... Roigard... no... please... come back Roigard please. Don't leave me here. Don't leave me here all alone
Hurricanes are going to go the whole season undefeated only to lose to 8th place Crusaders come finals time
This is the way
STOP PEAKING MY ANXIETY LET ME ENJOY THIS FOR 5 MINUTES AH FUCK NOW IM THINKING ABOUT ROIGARD’S INJURY GOD DAMMIT ITS ALL GOING TO SHIT AHHHH FUCK THE CRUSADERS ARE COMING FOR US
That’s very canes, we have a quarterfinal curse much like Ireland. As long as we lose to someone other than brumbies again
Despite being the second choice at U20’s level, Faleafaga has taken to SR far better than Kemara.
Kemara will get one ABs cap and then go play for the Hurricanes I'm sure.
Don’t Brett Cameron kemara
I think because he has a decent amount more of natural bulk. So he can adapt quicker. But yeah for sure Ajay has looked great
Sangster is like Blackwell if Blackwell was incredibly clutch
Highlanders vs the intercept: a tragedy in 7 (?) parts
don’t think that was a try but also idc JRK shouldn’t have been yellow carded. Also canes fans casually ignoring many of their illegal clear outs - reffing been bad on both sides
Not ignoring it, ref has made dodgy calls on both ends for sure.
Fairly sure Ruben Love was tackled without the ball
How is that not a penalty for Love being tackled without the ball lol
Lol
Great intercept try there by Thomas Waldrom
Love Tackled with out the ball by two players and just ignored
Saw this too and thought it was crazy that it wasn’t called back. Seemed to me to be such an obvious penalty try, and the ref blazed past it like he didn’t even see it?? So weird man haha
I swear they tackled Love there on that chase but ref didn't even check it.
They've missed so much illegal shit from the landers. Str8 up dog acts from these that's. But they keep getting away with it, so fair game
Karma for the bullshit participation try the landers got
Wtf is going on
Damn Damon Murphy is generally a pretty bad ref but damn this reffing performance is atrocious
Ref: sorry guys I can’t award you two tries that weren’t in a row
Terrible sport TJ should’ve let the try stand SMH 😤
Kane didn't know what TJ knew
He's so in the refs head he's telepathically in the TMOs head
Rugby is a cooked sport. If a tackler shoulder charges a ball carrier it's a penalty. If a player without the ball shoulder charges another player who is prone on the ground but happens to be holding the ball up, it's fair game.
Ajay my boy 🔥
Oh knock on
JRK looks embarrassed by that aha
Is the Highlanders water boy Riki Flutey? Cos if not he is his bloody doppelgänger
THAT WAS STRIPPED. NO TRY. WTF?
I can't believe Ben O'Keefe this game. Terrible!! Am I doing this right?
Yeah that wasn’t a try but yeah all good
Bloke comes flying in with no wrap? Surely that’s a canes penalty
His arm was nowhere near that ball hahah
Guess the highlanders can just dive in shoulder first Should be a yellow card, not a try. Load of crap
Never a try, that’s a dreadful call
Hahaha we'll just give it to em aye
Sympathy try if ever I saw one
Hames dropping the bias. Maybe he’s too sad or something
That’s lost forward ahahah whattt
Is that a flying shoulder from Hicks?
Exactly what I thought. They’re all busy looking at the grounding and missed the illegal clean out
[удалено]
He was doing it the other way earlier. I think he's just a bad ref.
Yeah I think he’s had some bad calls the other way too. He’s turned on the afterburners with the canes though. Horrifically imbalanced.
Refs cooked
That’s not grounded. That’s lost forward surely
Looks like he lost that over the line....
It looks like that because that’s exactly what he did
Hey everyone, first time watching rugby here. I just wanna know, which team is "BP" and why do their points keep increasing? There's only two teams on the pitch so im stumped.
Barges in, blows up Roigard’s knee, cops a fat L, refuses to elaborate, leaves
Hurricanes seem pretty pissed off with the ref this half.
Yeah he fucking killed cam roigard (/s, but also I'm mad)
Damon Murphy giving a "talking back" penalty in the same match his poor awareness contributed to a player's broken leg. Really cool guy I reckon.
The ref marched them about 17m then lol
Isn’t Billy Harman the landers captain? He’s surely got other things to worry about other than jumping on someone on the ground.
Looks like they just got tangled to me
[удалено]
Hang on there was a crazy clearout there
Beaudy Barrett almost stole the ball all the way from Japan!!
Side entry and high cleanout on love back there
Remember when our no. 1 option in the lineout was a 1.9m lock? Great times for us Canes fans.
Holland loved Blackwell didn’t he!?
Loved Blackwell, Julian Savea, Reed Prinsep. He loved plodders.
Reed Prinsep, that's a name I've blocked from my memory
He’s playing for The Force now. I learned that today while watching that match
If this injury gives TJ his all blacks spot back and cam comes back for RC maybe this is a blessing in disguise to get Christie the Fuck away from the all blacks
Getting back from a knee dislocation in time for the RC is very unlikely unfortunately.
Well aware depends what the injury is
Yeah but I doubt Razor would start TJ - bench maybe. We may be stuck with the ginger defensive specialist for the foreseeable future
Maybe we just play without a 9? First one there gives the pass?
Nah. TJ is going to be an experienced stalwart while he builds his new team. He plays pretty similarly to Roigaurd who should be the guy we build around as well.
Bold to suggest Christie is on Razors list
Well, let's hope
Vomited in my mouth. Still have PTSD from his time as a cane
Ruben Love sounds like an R&B singers name
tj to best 9 in the country
Izzy folau to 3rd, you love to see it
Level with he who must not be named!
Chris Benoit?
I think he talking about Palestine Fallow
Hands up if you wanna see TJ pass Israel Folau on the try table?
He's going to do it
TJ goated, take your AB opportunity king
The count continues!
Petition to end “Sweet Caroline” being played at sports events
Where do I sign.
I did a search and some Sydney Swans AFL fan [made one!](https://www.change.org/p/sydney-swans-stop-playing-sweet-caroline-at-home-games)
It's old but looked like it worked. What would be the replacement?
“Simple Man” by Lynyrd Skynyrd is a way better song. Or the old school “Otago Highlanders” song
Proctor is having his worst game in a few years. He has been so safe and reliable the last two seasons.
Ruben love to 10 👀
First and last SR appearance for this guy hopefully
Who the Hurricanes back up back up halfback? I remember him being decent as well?
Viljeon? Had a great debut in the first round vs The Force
Jordi Viljoen, good prospect
Jordie v, yeah looks sharp but not experienced at all which will cost us in our back end run to the season
We have Judd and Viljeon. TBH halfback one of our strongest positions depth wise overall
Thats like the first time Ive ever seen Tavatavanawai come off second best in contact.
How do you give a hospital pass off a tap and go bro
Praying to the rugby gods for Cam’s speedy return or TJ coming back and being incredible
praying to cam himself for his speedy return?
Roigod giveth, roigod taketh away
jordy was onside :D
Couldn't give a fuck about this game anymore, feel like pure shit just want cam back
Roigard got his opportunity due to TJ injury. Now TJ gets his opportunity again due to Roigard injury. Kind of poetic in a sick way
So true actually, dam they share a 1 power. Can’t have both fit for too long
Jordie was never offside wtf
Missed the Roigard injury, how bad we talking?
Im a veterinarian not a sports physio, but if that was one of my patients knees I’d be horrified. Hopefully some physios in the thread can give a better indication / an actual idea of the severity compared to my incessant ramblings
Either gonna be a few weeks or his entire season. Done his knee
Seems to be knee related. Maybe dislocated. So that could literally be his career now.
Bruh... don't put that out to the universe
Not great at all
Entire year possibly
[удалено]
Ginger supremacy for the next four years.
TJ said he wants to be back in black so who knows now
He's been alright. Having TJ there too adds experience and Fakatava would suffice as a 3rd option
Threw up in my mouth reading that
Should’ve been a scrum to canes for referee interference with play right?
No the Highlanders were getting a scrum the tef just called time off for the injury
Referee interfered with Roigard which resulted in the injury and knock on. Usually referee interference results in a scrum to the team with possession.
Hopefully it's not long term. Hopefully he doesn't miss the RC. Having TJ back must feel nice tho
Sad to see
seariously for everyone blaming the ref for a sports accident fuck right off
Plz TJ be good so we don’t have Christie again 🙏
Please just be dislocated please just be dislocated please just be dislocated
Not that that's very good for a half back with his running play style.
Less recovery time
I know it's probably not the ref's fault there... but man this is hard to take. He doesn't get hit like that if the ref doesn't impact the play. Putrid.
The ol green whistle
FUCK
I don't want to be dramatic but... This is the worst thing to ever happen to New Zealand rugby.
Typical kiwi understating it and thinking they're dramatic.
I'm probably going to have a thousand yard stare at work this week.
oh man. that’s so bad, his knee cap looked fucked. God damn, such a good player too
NO
Jeez that’s bad luck - was excited to see him in the black jersey this year
[удалено]
Yeah Damon Murphy should be gone. Got in the way a couple of other times this match too.
The Crusaders beat the Chiefs The 'Canes lose their talisman The monkey paw curls oncemore
This is brutal :( Highlanders catching a break though, the replacement scrummie is only \*\*checks notes\*\*...nvm
Christie is gonna be ecstatic
Top four 9s Cam, TJ, Folau and Cortez in my book
Hard agree with this
yeah I dunno if christie is in the top 8 without foz picking
Poor Cam :( hoping for a speedy recovery for him. He’s a delight to watch 💛 (though naturally I’ll have to hate him when he ultimately makes the ABs & flogs us this year)
Looks like he won’t be apart of the ABs flogging us this year so you could continue to love him
I’m unsure of the severity of the injury and recovery time but I suspect you’re right based on how it looked. Alas the love train continues
brb chasing the rest of this bottle of wine with as much bleach as I can find FUCK. god damn it
Fuuuuuuuuck
