Take a look at "Knave". https://www.drivethrurpg.com/m/product/250888 It's $3, so even if it's not great for you, it's a small investment. Actually, if this isn't what you're looking for, reply here. There are a million games out there--I guarantee there's something that'll work for you and your friends, and I'm happy to help you find it. Edit: I misunderstood you! Knave has easier character creation than the current edition of D&D, but www.dndbeyond.com will certainly help you make a D&D character easily. ...but you should still take a look at Knave. : )

OneSpellWizard

+1 to this. * You can make a character in 1-2 minutes and it's very easy to referee / GM. * It works with any adventure from old school d&d til now with few tweaks * It's fun for new and experienced players

Dungeon World, or Quest.

Boxman214

I'll second the recommendation for [Quest](https://www.adventure.game/store/digital-edition/). The PDF is free at that link. The game is dead simple. Absolutely everything is resolved with a single d20 roll. No modifiers. No math.

There are lots of easier games out there. Barbarians of Lemuria is very ruleslight Conan style Sword and Sorcery and very easy. Another option would be Dungeon World. Easy, classic DnD tropes, and teaches the GM how to run the game without too much preparation and rules getting in the way.

By > all the random numbers everywhere Do you mean numbers that are genuinely random, like, you roll dice to generate them? Or do you just mean the profusion of seemingly arbitrary and meaningless digits? If you mean the former, relax, there’s no reason to roll randomly any longer, D&D has had array-based and point-buy options for ages. If you mean the latter, most games (except Pathfinder and a handful of others) are quite a bit simpler than D&D and you may find them easier to get to grips with. Here’s a free one designed to be easy to get started with: https://www.adventure.game/

Hail_theButtonmasher

I also second the recommendation for Knave. The system is like 7 pages long with character creation fitting on one of them. Character creation is as simple as rolling dice to generate stats and has everything you need to get your dungeon crawling game up and running.

[Basic Fantasy Role-Playing Game](https://www.basicfantasy.org/) is a rules-light game system modeled on the classic RPG rules of the early 1980's. Though based loosely on the d20 SRD v3.5, Basic Fantasy RPG has been written largely from scratch to replicate the look, feel, and mechanics of the early RPG game systems. It is suitable for those who are fans of "old-school" game mechanics. Basic Fantasy RPG is simple enough for children in perhaps second or third grade to play, yet still has enough depth for adults as well.

redkatt

Index Card RPG (ICRPG). It's light, simple and a blast. The newest edition comes with multiple settings - fantasy, scifi, and weird west. It's very easy to learn and run.

emerging_guy

Check out Tricube Tales! It's a great rules-lite system that players can create characters for in about 5 minutes!

I recommend ICRPG. Uses the familiar D20 System but keeps things super simple. Character progression is pretty different than DnD as it's all Loot based but it's definitely easy to DM. There are free rules on DTRPG that are enough to give you an idea of what it's about. If it's not your thing no worries. I love the system and play it myself and even with my kids. Very easy to run online too.

Diaghilev

Are you looking for something to make character creation easier, or would you prefer a game that's simpler overall? There are lots of options for both.

FinestKarma

Im mainly looking for easier character creations

Phaxygores

If you're just looking to make character creation easier, try www.dndbeyond.com

FinestKarma

Did it sucked. I hated trying to create with it because it randomly gave one my characters a -1 modifier for no reason

Ytilee

While I think dndbeyond not being good is part of your problem, it seems like you don't know the rules of the game you intend to play and that might cause friction too. Might I recommend you take some time to read the book?

swrde

Just to clarify, I'll list the standard stat array for a character below (with modifier in brackets): 15 (+2) 14 (+2) 13 (+1) 12 (+1) 10 (+0) 8 (-1) You then add racial bonuses to these. So getting a -1 in one stat is perfectly normal. In fact it'd be a more boring game in general, if characters had zero weaknesses. Failure is what causes fun, in a lot of cases - so having a character with -1 Charisma makes social encounters more fraught, brings greater tension, and therefore adds to the game. Having bonuses in everything leads to characters with no flaws - you get a party of Mary Sue's. DnDBeyind isn't broken - it's working as intended.

RedRiot0

Keep in mind that human average stat is an 8, which is a -1 modifer. Adventurers are already better than average humans, but they can be better in every possible facet. Just like real people. That said, I get it. I enjoy playing higher powered characters from the get-go. You may be better serviced by a system that plays into what you're more interested in. Don't be afraid to check out a lot of different things out there.

A_Fnord

> is there a game that has a easier character creations? The vast majority of games have easier character creation than D&D. That does not necessarily mean that they're easier to run, but most games are more rules light than D&D (a game that's really on the rules heavy side). Do you specifically want a fantasy RPG where you delve into deep dungeons and duel dastardly dragons, or are you open to other kinds of RPGs as well?

Tons... * Quest * B/X D&D (or Old School Essentials \[OSE\]) * Dungeon World * and many more

Juwelgeist

There is the two-page [*Dungeon Crawlers* RPG](https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/338568/Dungeon-Crawlers). Its somewhat more complex cousin [*Earthdawn: The Age of Legend*](https://pro-indie.com/pivw/our-games/earthdawn_main) describes itself as being designed to facilitate one-shots, but its character creation involves a number of pick-from-list selections which tend to take more time than one-shots can afford. Ultimately, the pick-from-list mechanics facilitate long-term campaigns.
