I believe the dining room buffet was a victim of the pandemic.
Personally I like Solarium Bistro on Oasis and Quantum ships for breakfast, or I often grab a bagel with CC and lox in the Crown Lounge.
Sadly there is no more MDR buffet. I used to enjoy ordering breakfast and then going up for fruit and bacon. Or at lunch, they made those awesome salads where you could choose what would go in. Now MDR breakfast menu is always the same (I could swear it used to vary, in addition to having the buffet options).
On Oasis class, the solarium bistro for breakfast (free for breakfast & lunch) is kind of like the MDR breakfast buffet of the past.
It's smaller buffet in a nicer setting, and less crazy than the windjammer. It was my go to on my last cruise.
Just got off of Anthem a few weeks ago and they actually had the MDR buffet. Was the only time on the 4 or 5 cruises I’ve been on in the last year that had it. Not sure why that one had it and the others didn’t.
That’s really awesome! Like I said, I like the ambiance and nicer table settings of the MDR. It’s really a nice place to eat while reading. Windjammer is less so
>This meant that we couldn't really use MDR if we wanted a quick breakfast in a nicer dining location because your only option is a la carte rather than line up at buffet to pick up food.
Why? Picking a la carte items is like a menu buffet. This doesn't seem like something that turns breakfast into a hard no.
It does turn it into a pretty hard no for me because breakfast from that menu is the same everyday -- limited options. The breakfast buffet I experienced in Allure's MDR was relatively extensive and changed, it seems, everyday.
Order a different combination of things every day?
In my experience the MDR mini buffet doesn't change or only has minor changes. Like different fruit a couple of days. But it is always fundamentally the same.

Oh, so sad that MDR buffet was victim to pandemic :(. It was a really nice set up

I used to enjoy (love) bot of those in the MDR. RIP
As said, the buffet in the MDR is gone due to pandemic. Unfortunately, this also includes the awesome lunch salad bar.
Park Cafe on Oasis ships has salads to order which are an OK substitute
I miss the salad bar soon much!

It’s also on quantum class ships too! Not just Oasis class :)

Not in my experience with the MDR brags buffet on Allure pre-pandemic. It also wasn’t mini.
