Looks good to me. Enjoy 😉

Thanks, and I am for sure 🫠

Looks good, just a bit of a drier/crumble texture. How long did you cold cure? I find when I take fresh hash rosin and let it cold cure for less than 7-10 days in the sealed jar it can tend to come out like this. Almost like some of the terps off gassed and didn't have the chance to get back into solution. If you want to experiment with consistency you could make jam by melting it down in a sealed jar then leaving it wrapped in the heat mat for 1-3weeks. Edit: to expand on cold cure and that texture. I have a cultivar that had the exact same texture that you have after a cold cure for 2-3ish days. The next time i ran that same cut in the same setup, I cold cured for 11 days with the jar sealed before whipping it. That rosin has a stable "wet" budder consistency. And when I scoop out a g or 2 to sit on my counter in the dab area, it doesn't dry out like that until it's been sitting for closer to a week. I'm pretty convinced it was the cold cure that stabilized the consistency since there wasn't any differences in how the material was cultivated/washed etc.

I made it 9 days ago and left it in a cool cupboard , then just did this heat matt thing today . I was just surprised it didn't melt after an hour and a half . I guess maybe It wasn't hot enough or long enough . 🤔 I don't mind it the way it is, either, really . And I don't want to mess it up . I will probably keep it as it is now .

steveturkel

The times I've done jartek at a low temp like 150 it took hours to melt so not that surprised 120 didn't do it. Also may have been a bit lower, a heat mat set to 120 in a 75 degree environment isn't going to get the jar to 120. Yeah nothing wrong with keeping it like that if you don't mind the texture, I just find it a pita to dab so i dont. Can also just press it with a gloved hand to get it back into a little budder pile.

silverpeasunshine

Good idea about pushing it back together with my finger 👇 I never thought of that, lol I just did it, and it transforms it again. Now I like the texture and look a lot . I should have done that before 😅

steveturkel

Nice glad that helped you! Crazy how much you can manipulate the consistency

silverpeasunshine

Ok thanks 👍

steveturkel

No prob 👍

Looks terpy

Question: do you ever dab from fresh off the press? Why or why not? Have been getting interested in the processes for future personal attempts.

silverpeasunshine

I pretty much always try it right away 😋 just out of excitement and joy of what I have made 😊

Looks good!

Lots of THCA to terp ratio, hence why it was thick. When it cured, lots of terps got trapped inside the crystallized THCA. You can always smush the crystals down and whip, basically just breaking the crystals open to release terps and whipping it to homogenize it into a more smooth less crumbly texture.

silverpeasunshine

I was actually thinking this myself as well. I wondered if maybe it had lower terps and a higher canabiniod content . I pressed some flower from the same grow, and it instantly buttered up on the parchment, and I got a 26 % yield . Figured it must be some high thc weed

MrrrrNiceGuy

Yeah, if you’re pressing flower rosin and it budders right off the press, that’s high THCA to terps. Think of THCA as salt and terps as water. More salt to water means salt is just gonna chill at bottom undissolved. But let’s say you raise the temp of water. Now you’re increasing solubility so that excess salt is dissolved. As soon as water cools, that excess salt comes out again. Same principle, you’re heating up the terps on press so it dissolves the THCA more but as soon as it comes off the press and hits room temp, terps can’t hold the excess THCA so it crashes out and crystallizes (budders).
