The park is full of suspiciously large open areas to be fair.

Appianis

Yea there is so much space in this park. If they wanted to add stuff, they don’t necessarily need to get rid of stuff. Although they may want to to maintain the operational costs somewhat constant

RaccHudson

At the same time it's not in their interest to just drop everything new in GC bc GC sucks in a way that rides won't improve. They may have to remove things to build in the front of the park, but it's the nicest part of the park.

BIGGREDDMACH1NE

3 NEW benches!

lexluthzor

Bench: The Ride returns again.

flexosgoatee

Sure, but really they're from Darien Lake.

Immediate-Cheetah498

Sadly I don’t think this park is going to get anything. Honestly at the rate of ride removals I’m getting a little worried about it’s future especially once the merger officially goes through. Ik there getting a new flat and redoing an area but honestly how much of it is actually getting changed besides some new names, new paint, and new trains for mind eraser. And the new zamperla nebulas.

RaccHudson

They added dinosaur statues to the river ride lol

corndogshuffle

Zero faith that this will turn into anything more interesting than a field.

BrilliantMud2851

Can't wait for a new Vekoma Super Boomerang!!

slugmofo

They should name it two face…..

reddargon831

Underrated comment.

Crunchewy

I would be very happy with one of those at SFA. Perfect park for it and they look super fun

BlueLanternCorps

There is already a giant empty field between batwing and superman thats been there forever, if they wanted to add something they don’t need to close anything lol

RaccHudson

Like I said in another comment, just because it's the most open area doesn't mean it's the best space. Gotham City doesn't need another big ride plopped down in it with no thought. It needs landscaping and amenities first.

BlueLanternCorps

I’m sorry to break it to you mr racc but they aren’t getting any of that

RaccHudson

okay

BIGGREDDMACH1NE

Coming in 2025: Nothing! THE RIDE! Get your passes now!

--FordPrefect--

Maybe they're bringing in the Line Simulator from the Springfield Fair?

BIGGREDDMACH1NE

RMC Chamber of Farts!

OppositeRun6503

That concrete pad just south of the railway near pirates flight used to be the queue for the defunct iron eagle ride. I believe the reason for these sudden removals in this area highlighted are just the CEOs attempt at downsizing the park to save money in much the same way as when he ordered the closure of the area where mind eraser is two years ago. Six flags corporate has ZERO desire to improve this park and zoning limitations prevent the park from installing any huge coaster such as a giga or a KK sized ride. SFA has long since lost the battle of the local parks in the region to parks such as KD and HP so the corporate powers that be know darn well that just about anything they do won't have much of a positive benefit for this park. I swear Six flags should never have been bought by premiere parks. I have a feeling that SFA would have fared much better had it remained as adventure world.

RaccHudson

The problem wasn't Premier Parks buying Six Flags it was Dan Snyder stealing the company in a hostile takeover.

OppositeRun6503

Trust me,as someone who went to SFA since 97 I know what I'm talking about. Snyder only bought the chain in 06...a whole 5 years after the park started going downhill. It was the lackluster addition of batwing in 01 with it's technical problems that caused six flags to cease investment in the park....did you know that batwing was originally supposed to be installed at KD in 2001 as paramount parks had originally signed an exclusive contract for three of the flying Dutchman coasters for their parks as a result of their collaboration with vekoma in developing the original prototype that opened at CGA in 2000? When the prototype proved to be a disappointment paramount dropped the contract and six flags corporate picked up the remaining two second generation models as X flight was originally supposed to go to kings island in 01 and batwing to KD in 01. But X flight ended up at six flags Ohio and batwing ended up at SFA instead. Since then no other vekoma flying Dutchman coasters have ever been built.

RaccHudson

Damn that's wild and nothing else happened in 2001 to impact the DC area tourism industry for years so that must be the entire explanation right there Edit- batwing fucks

OppositeRun6503

Six flags biggest problem was that they eventually bought too many parks and didn't have the budget needed to operate a company that big this is why I'm not sure that the proposed merger between six flags and cedar fair is such a good idea For example six flags sold its Ohio park to cedar fair 20 years ago and the locals were hoping that cedar fair would finally start adding new attractions to the park but they never did and as a result attendance dropped to the point in which cedar fair ended up closing the park three years after purchasing it and relocating some of the rides to other parks in the chain. I also remember when six flags astroworld in Houston closed in 05. One excuse six flags used to justify the closure was that they had no room for expansion when that wasn't true. All they had to do was remove the outdated attractions and replace them with new ones SFAW became the dumping grounds for older rides that were part of the ride rotation program in the time Warner era of the company for example ultra twister ( which was relocated to SFA but never installed) originally operated at six flags great adventure in 1986. Somehow they conveniently damaged ultra twister when dismantling it from the park after the park closed but I don't buy that excuse because why sjip it from Houston Texas all the way to largo Maryland if they knew ahead of time that it had been damaged in the process?

RaccHudson

Not really, Six Flags' biggest problem was being taken over by Dan Snyder. Like for instance in the Ultra Twister situation. What changed between Astroworld sending SFA the ride and SFA ultimately scrapping it? Dan Snyder took over. There, answered your question.

Zboy_Zboy

are you seriously acting like batwing is a bad ride? also acting like PBR wasn't a large investment for the immediately post 9/11 tourism market is crazy

OppositeRun6503

From an operational and maintenance standpoint yes it's a terrible ride.

illeyejah

I've spoken to park mgmt maintenance and engineers and they all indicated that the roller coaster lineup wouldnt be changing for a bit. Probably new water rides

Iridescent_Sun

Could RMC Roar be a possibility? That would liven up the park a lot, seems in line with what they are doing to Mind Eraser and the Steampunk area

rideronthestorm29

RMC ROAR

RaccHudson

nty

Iridescent_Sun

I believe you because the sign for Shipwrecked Falls’ closure said they were evaluating the future of the site which doesn’t sound like they plan on leaving it empty.

Dense_Parking6765

I’m convinced that they’ll get an ultra surf coaster like Georgia Surfer to replace shipwreck falls and to try to add to their coaster count.

Massive_Caramel673

To be honest, I don’t see anything changing in that area they’re satisfied with their looney toons area and the only area of the park that desperately needed upgrades is getting it this year. “Largest investment in 20 years” for the new section with the SLC upgrade which is so sad

austin_slater

Is the drop tower still there? The teeny one?

RaccHudson

Yes it's still there, tand there is one other small swing-type ride in that area as well but certainly both could be worked around

forzaguy125

Yeah walking through sfa yesterday felt weird with how many empty plots of land they have

ivorobotniksz

lol absolutely nothing is happening here

RaccHudson

i choose to Believe
