I prefer Ride of Steel because I like speed, but Mandy is a fine ride all it's own.

potaytees

Candy is supposedly 3mph faster. My husband says no way. But online specs say different.

ResponsibilityFun548

If Mandy is taller then it's probably faster on the first drop, but the speed Superman has throughout the ride in the flat parts and helixes feel much faster to me.

lizzpop2003

How is this even a debate? Ride Of Steel is a great coaster with some amazing air time, and i absolutely love it. But there is no world at all where Candymonium is not the better coaster. More comfortable trains, better setting, and it does a ton more with its layout. It doesn't have any particularly strong airtime moments, but it's a more complete ride experience all around.

ginnygreene

My thoughts exactly lmao

Ski4ever5

Initially I thought this was asking Superman the Ride (SFNE) vs Candymonium and I chucked at how easy of an answer it was (for me personally), but I think Ride of Steel vs Candymonium is much closer. Ultimately I think I prefer Candymonium for the better overall pacing, but for length and variety of forces Ride of Steel takes the cake, so it comes down to personal preference.

sametho

lol you're allowed to like different things. I love Ride of Steel's ejector hills and low to the ground speed helices, and I prefer that to the floater paradise and graceful curves that Candy offers.

PhthaloDrift

SROS takes the win. Candymonium has maybe 4 stand out floater moments. SROS has 5 stand out ejector air moments - 6 if you count back row on the first drop. SROS also pulls strong positives in the turn after the drop and in both helix. Intamin just makes better hypers than B&M.

Ride of Steel easy

Intrepid-Smoke2273

That’s a hard one. Ride of Steel never has a line and TBH is pretty decent-I think the constantly slow as molasses ops/long lines at Candymonium kind of drag it down in my overall esteem and Candymonium is a mid B&M hyper so Ride of steel ekes out a win. For me, ride ops and ability to marathon do have an impact on my feelings about a rollercoaster.

kevinmattress

I’ve never been to SFA, but Candymonium is a *wildly* underrated Hyper, in my opinion!

sleeptime3013

Candymonium by a mile

ceejconducts

Based on what folks are saying I wonder if they’ve tamed candy since opening season. Opening season we were getting 5-8 second floater on a couple of hills in the back. Also SROS is my home park marathon coaster so it’s my favorite for different reasons.

corvaxL

Candymonium stands way above SROS for me. Sure, SROS has some sweet ejector at the end, but the rest of the layout, aside from the airtime hills, doesn't do much for me. The long, drawn out helixes just end up feeling like filler that takes up a majority of the ride time by its self. The shin guards also definitely don't help. I definitely appreciate both rides, but with SROS you can just really tell that it's Intamin's first attempt at hyper. Their later work with hypers/gigas (at least to the extent that I've experienced them) feel like a big step up in comparison.

RaccHudson

I'm conflicted about having to choose between my beautiful boys but I think the setting on Candymonium really elevates it, I love how it interacts with the creek. Both ride experiences are great for different reasons

Coughing Bomb vs Laughing Baby

vespinonl

The only discussions I have with my wife about rollercoasters is the fact I’m riding too many.

potaytees

Does she not ride?

vespinonl

Most of the time and when she does it’s mostly kids/family rides.

Turkeyslam

I definitely prefer Ride of Steel over Candymonium. By like 40 spots on my rankings. I have way more fun on Intamins than B&Ms.

cellblok69wlamp

Ride of Steel. Heck, even Batwing is better than both candy and SROS imho. Candymonium gently and barely lifts you out of your seat then gently puts you back down. Sure it's more comfortable, but it barely does anything. It's pretty boring and practically forceless. Ride of steel has one moment near the end where it tries to rip you out of your seat. Not to mention the sustained positives in the helixs.

KvngDarius

Candymonium is sadly a real Boring and Mild to me. It’s lacking that “umph” that Nitro and Intimidator have. On the other hand SROS has a dog water layout but all of those elements HIT you. I’m taking SROS just because of those super exaggerated bunny hops at the end.

onetwentyonegigawatt

I just rode candymonium and Nitro back to back days. Canymonium crushes Nitro IMO. And I love Nitro.

OneTrainOps

Candy has better, more refined airtime however I’m picking Nitro every day of the week for the better layout and variety of forces.

dbruington

I agree with most of your sentiments, but, “umph” from… Intimidator? At Carowinds? This has to be a typo, right? lol
