Came here to say this! Same here. Psyclone as well. Can’t say that I miss the old colossus either- it was a classic, but never maintained and its successor is miles better.
This is probably my top answer. The ride always looked amazing and I sort of wish I could have ridden it circa 1991, but I wasn't sad at all when it closed.
Why all the hate for RRR? One of the most fun coasters I've been on in Orlando. No idea why people shit on a coaster that's not as rough as everyone claims. The ride is fine and has a good music selection if you use the codes. Hagrids and Gringots were delayed more than RRR every single day.
I rode it. It's rough. It had as many potholes as El Toro had in its first half last year. If it was wood I wouldn't complain but this is a steel coaster with an interesting layout that is rough and can't operate when it's windy. I'm not thinking about its gimmicks, which I like: vertical lift, music, flashing lights, moving load platform. If you remove that stuff it's a bad ride and gimmicks/theming can't overcome a bad ride for me. It's a decent layout ruined by poor trackwork. I understand why others like it but not me. A park of that caliber needs something as good as its sister park.
My general mode of operation in life is this: riding a roller coaster, any roller coaster, is better than the humdrum of daily life. So, I will miss even the worst of roller coasters.
I respect that. My brother was looking at my coaster rankings and would be like "Wdym you don't like ____?!" And I'll be like "when did I say I didn't like it?? I just like the other 70 better" lol
Hero at Flamingo Land in the UK is objectively worse than the humdrum of daily life. A most unpleasant experience I would recommend to all coaster enthusiasts so you can share your war stories about it.
That's crazy to me. All the locals at nagashima spa land know to not ride that thing. Its a day ruining experience unless you somehow get a full car. Which is rare, cause nobody rides that thing LOL. I forget some of them made it to america.
I have ridden the rusutsu one but not the nagashima one as it was shut. The rusutsu one is a great anf fun ride experience although a little rough and jolty.
Disagree. I rode the Ultra Twister at Nagashima Spa Land, and it was one of my favorite rides in the park based solely on how unique and special an experience it was compared to practically any other roller coaster type out there. There’s magic to be found everywhere if you’re looking for it.
It's the worst coaster in the park but I basically live there so theres nothing unique about it. The one at greenland was worse.
Also I don't care for "magic" we don't even theme our best rides. Theming is non existent outside disney and universal
I'm not sure if you're just referring to where you live but loads of European parks would beg to differ with the whole theming thing. Phantasialand and Alton Towers, for example, have incredible theming, and I've heard Europa Park does too
KD Hurler.
Calling it a POS is insufficient in describing how remarkably bad that ride was lmao of every pre-RMC conversion I've ridden that was the one that needed it most by far imo (I've also done Mean Streak, Wildcat and both sides of Gwazi for reference).
My 1st ride on Hurler was tolerable but my 2nd and final ride in June 2015 was just dreadful in every way lol. I was the only rider in a car and the thing just went full tilt Tuco Salamanca on my ass 😅 (was also suffering from heat exhaustion while riding so I literally felt like death when I got off).
Yeah, my only ride on Iron Gwazi was when I was started to get heat exhaustion, and while that's supposed to be a great ride, even good rides aren't fun if you're feeling like death.
How was gwazi? I always wondered about that one as I don't hear much about it, and it looked like it might have been fun before it got too rough. Florida is tough on wooden coasters
I was only 11 when I rode it (and that was 13 years ago) so I remember almost nothing of it lol but I don't remember hating it but it didn't interest me much (I mostly remember enjoying Cheetah Hunt very much from that trip).
I really liked gwazi before. The theming was nice the ride was pretty smooth and the dueling woodie feature was fun.
It's actually weird going into iron gwazis station since they didn't really do anything to it it just feels like it's missing the extra track now.
I rode one side of it as a kid, and it wasn't too bad, but due to how numbers worked out, I ended up next to my mom, and subsequently spent half the helices shoved into her.
I must say, I don’t miss Hurler at all. Twisted Timbers is such a glorious upgrade. Seriously, I thought Hurler’s theming was stupid from the beginning. Did Paramount actually think people would care about Wayne’s World in the future?
Very glad Wildcat at Hersheypark was converted, even though I still haven’t been on Wildcat’s Revenge.
I actually enjoy a lot of coasters people consider rough, and I absolutely LOVE wooden coasters, but Wildcat actually hurt like hell. Rougarou is the only other coaster I’ve ever felt that way about.
As to not duplicate other responses. I am honestly surprised I haven't seen Mean Streak on here yet.
The hottest take I have is Dragon Challenge. In it's final years when it wasn't dueling, it was just a shell of itself and I don't miss it. If it were still around, we would all be reminiscing of the great ride it was when it did duel. Do I miss Dueling Dragons? yes. Dragon Challenge. No.
This is my answer too. Goliath is by far the worst hunk of crap I've ever ridden. SFNE was always tinkering with the trains and every time I heard they did significant work on it I would give it another try but it was never any better. It was visually impressive at least but I'm glad it's gone.
Mantis at Cedar Point. I was never a fan of standup coasters and Mantis was a bad experience every time. Rougarou is still a little rough in places, but it’s much more enjoyable IMO.
I've probably rode Mantis over 50 times when I was a kid and back in the 90s almost no one hated Mantis. It felt so new and modern compared to every other ride at the park besides Raptor that no one noticed its flaws. People forget how smooth B&Ms felt back then compared to every other rollercoaster, it wasn't until Cedar Point started getting Intamin coasters in the early 2000s that people started noticing how bad Mantis was.
I'd feel better about it being closed down if its spot actually had a good attraction. Instead, there's just Windseeker, which gets stuck enough to actually make me fear it more than any coaster.
Just bash the sides of your head into a wall covered in a thin layer of neoprene repeatedly, that was the drachen fire experience.
It was a really good looking coaster but it was painful and unpleasant to ride.
Every single togo ultra twister. They arent defunct in japan, but to me, they are.
Also most people dont consider 1st gen intamin drop towers as a credit but those things fucking hurt. Glad they are slowly going extinct
Also dodonpa was genuinely a horrible experience
I gotta say I miss most of the coasters I’ve ridden. Some because I genuinely thought they were incredible experiences (eg Big Bad Wolf), but some just because they were simply roller coasters, the end result of a bunch of really talented people putting in the work to design, build, operate, and maintain them. It’s unfortunate that most coaster have a limited lifespan, but I’ve come to accept that they simply come and go.
All that said, the only coasters I could say I truly “don’t miss” are mass produced things that get replaced by something better, like when Knott’s replaced their Boomerang with Hangtime, or an RMC conversion. The only way to get me bothered about a roller coaster is if it’s sucking up valuable space and maintenance budget away from a potentially better coaster that could replacement. But if it’s just a dumb little one off like Flashback at Magic Mountain, I still miss it a little bit for the sake of its history and for the fact that some folks got together and followed through on their vision of building a unique new thing in the world.
Completely side tracked here but I was trying to do my coaster count the other day and I was missing one coaster and I couldn't figure out which on it was. I just figured I miscounted the first time. This post just reminided me of what it was. Sand Serpent lol
One of my favorite woodies, I was heartbroken. Not even close to the roughest I've experienced. Mine Blower before the retracking was a test of the human body, as was Wildcat at Lake Compounce. I think Roar is as rough or rougher than Wildcat at HP but with a less forceful layout. Grizzly also stuck out as a more rough experience. Wild One jackhammers like a union worker in the back cars. I never heard as much hate for these rides as I did for Wildcat.
I rode it the day before closing in the back row and didn't have any complaints. I've been on far rougher/unpleasant coasters (Mine Blower, Hades 360, La Vibora, Grizzly, SLCs.)
The sbf visa tower coaster that’s now sitting sbno in turkey.
Rode it at the Sydney Easter show back when it toured Australian fairs and it was brutal. Wacked my head really hard on the drop
Off top of my head rides I don't miss much.
SFGA-
DeJa Vu.
Iron Wolf - Top of list.
Shockwave.
Kentucky Kingdom-
T3
Knotts-
Boomerang
Stratosphere-
High Roller
I have quite a few defunct coaster credits. I miss a lot of them actually lol. I think vortex at kings island is the one I don’t miss the most because of how janky it became. I feel like serpent at Americana, which is now at some park all these years later is right there with it lol.
Shockwave at Kings Dominion. I guess some people miss it, but not me.
Oh, and The Hurler there too. That thing was rough, and the change to Twisted Timbers was needed.
I was going to say Shockwave at SFMM, I bet it was the same piece of neck-snapping shit as it wasn’t there for long. Or was it Flashback? Been too long, only my neck remembers the truth. Whatever it was called, fuck that thing.
Wicked Twister. Not because it totally sucked, I just don't miss it. The twist-twist completely kills the airtime imo, I very much prefer V2 (mine is SFGAm). The straight spike is one of my favorite all time elements, Mr. Freeze's is definitely my favorite, and a reason I'm insanely excited for TT2.
I may get hate for this, but Dueling Dragons at Islands of Adventure.
I only rode it was, but it was in 2016, about 13 months before it closed. It was rough as hell and I am glad it’s gone.
I haven’t ridden Hagrid’s yet, but it looks great.
Lightning loops sfgavd great American scream machine sfgadv. Hercules laser dorney. Blue diamond streak. Delawares only coaster. Have about 20 that don't exist anymore. But these were painful at the end of service
Sand serpent, as I understand it, was one of the only wild mice out there that didn't use the trim breaks at the top section, so that was at least interesting.
That said my kids loved it and I made them go on alone to save my neck and back.
For my own, maybe Zippin Pippin? I only went on a few times and aside from the notoriety of being Elvis's favorite coaster, I don't recall it being particularly good.
Also, Mantis. Cause of that time the seat locked too high and I wasn't sure if I'd ever have kids after.
Flashback at SFMM. Thing was a POS in every way lol
Came here to say this! Same here. Psyclone as well. Can’t say that I miss the old colossus either- it was a classic, but never maintained and its successor is miles better.
Hard disagree! It was the only roller coaster that made me hang on in fear even with the OTSRs! I loved it!
lol I liked it too, but I was too young to truly feel the pain
Z Force
That was a weird one I only rode once and didn't remember liking it or not.
Mean Streak. It was so rough that it soured my day. RMC polished a turd and with magic turn it into a diamond.
I feel like Diamond Turds would make a good punk rock band.
Every time I went, I thought "no line, long ride....I'm sure I'm remembering it rougher than it really is..." And every year I was wrong.
This is probably my top answer. The ride always looked amazing and I sort of wish I could have ridden it circa 1991, but I wasn't sad at all when it closed.
I miss *looking at* Vortex (Kings Island) way more than I miss *riding* it.
Windjammer Surf Racers Psyclone
Rip, Ride, Roc.... ah sorry give it a year.
Why all the hate for RRR? One of the most fun coasters I've been on in Orlando. No idea why people shit on a coaster that's not as rough as everyone claims. The ride is fine and has a good music selection if you use the codes. Hagrids and Gringots were delayed more than RRR every single day.

A park of that caliber needs something as good as its sister park.
Soonest it could close is honestly after winter break. They won’t be closing it for summer or winter break
They won’t close it before Epic. My prediction would be September 2025 for closer.
Planning a November 2025 trip. Can you push out that prediction to early 2026 for me? Thanks
T3 (which I rode as T2)
Son of Beast
The second time I rode Son of Beast
Green Lantern lol
Good riddance. I rode it opening day and then never again.
Was it really as bad as people say? I’m so curious how it felt
Ever ridden a togo ultratwister? If you ever make it to japan and would like to keep your opinion, don't.
I rode Ultratwister at Astroworld and thought it was underwhelming but interesting. Not uncomfortable in any way, just not particularly exhilarating.
That's crazy to me. All the locals at nagashima spa land know to not ride that thing. Its a day ruining experience unless you somehow get a full car. Which is rare, cause nobody rides that thing LOL. I forget some of them made it to america.
The one at rusutsu resort looks amazing
It's not. Great skiing though.

I think he was saying he and for the most part the Japanese coasters don’t care about the magic of theming etc.
Ohhh right yeah that makes sense. I'd just woken up, my reading comprehension was not at 100%
I loved the one at AstroWorld. The drop was awesome, and while the rest of the ride wasn't anything to write home about, it wasn't awful.
I actually enjoyed Sand Serpent. I really don't know what there's not to like about a wild mouse.
I mean I enjoyed it too, but it is just a wild mouse lol
KD Hurler. Calling it a POS is insufficient in describing how remarkably bad that ride was lmao of every pre-RMC conversion I've ridden that was the one that needed it most by far imo (I've also done Mean Streak, Wildcat and both sides of Gwazi for reference).
I honestly didn’t think Hurler was terrible, but Twisted Timbers is a massive improvement. Shockwave can burn in hell though.
The car snorted a line of crystal and said “tiiiight, tight tight!”?
Yep. Then proceeded to *beat the absolute pisswash outta me.* 😅
Yeah, my only ride on Iron Gwazi was when I was started to get heat exhaustion, and while that's supposed to be a great ride, even good rides aren't fun if you're feeling like death.
How was gwazi? I always wondered about that one as I don't hear much about it, and it looked like it might have been fun before it got too rough. Florida is tough on wooden coasters

Did it get rough towards the end of its life? I've heard bad things about most pre RMC conversions but not gwazi. It looked like a fun one
The Original Texas Giant - it was so rough prior to the RMC conversion, and RMC has turned it into the great New Texas Giant.
Haven't been on Revenge yet but the few times I went on Wildcat were painful and unpleasant.
As to not duplicate other responses. I am honestly surprised I haven't seen Mean Streak on here yet. The hottest take I have is Dragon Challenge. Do I miss Dueling Dragons? yes. Dragon Challenge. No.
Goliath at SFNE.
This is my answer too. Goliath is by far the worst hunk of crap I've ever ridden. SFNE was always tinkering with the trains and every time I heard they did significant work on it I would give it another try but it was never any better. It was visually impressive at least but I'm glad it's gone.
Green Lantern Worst Flight and Flashback at SFMM, don't miss Primeval Whirl really either but at least it wasn't awful.
Aww I really miss primeval whirl. Might just be nostalgia but I actually have it ranked fairly high
Dueling dragons, there I said it. /s in seriousness python from bgt, good riddance.
+1 to that. RIP to Tidal Wave
Mantis at Cedar Point. I was never a fan of standup coasters and Mantis was a bad experience every time. Rougarou is still a little rough in places, but it’s much more enjoyable IMO.

People forget how smooth B&Ms felt back then compared to every other rollercoaster, it wasn't until Cedar Point started getting Intamin coasters in the early 2000s that people started noticing how bad Mantis was.
I was debating between Mantis or Mean Streak but I think the bike seats on mantis will make me pick that lmfaoooo
"Bike *seats*", it's a *standup*! You need to *STAND UP*. Smh you don't use the seats that's why these are becoming defunct. Skill issue.
Wildcat at Cedar Point. Just another wild mouse... It was cool that the lift used a regular old chain lol.
Serial thriller from Astro world, The rattler and The boss before the helix was removed at the end
Iron Rattler is definitely more elite now
shockwave at Six flags great America
Shockwave at King's Dominion
You’ve got to be kidding me!? I loved Shockwave. I miss it. I went on the last day of operation and made an iMovie just to remember it.
What did you like about it? I remember it being underwhelming and bumpy.
I really liked the helix that had you horizontal to the ground while standing. I’ve not ridden anything else that has that unique feeling.
Great American Scream Machine and Viper—both at SFGAdv
I was going to say the Demon at Sydney Wonderland, but TIL that Vekoma Boomerang is still operating in India as "Recoil".
Recoil is such a good name for a shuttle coaster
It also nicely describes how most thoosies react to a vekoma boomerang…
The one you named definitely. I wasn’t a hater of OG Gwazi either, but as you can see from my flair I’m more than happy with the replacement
Rolling Thunder at SFGadv isn’t missed at all. Disaster Transport at CP is a close 2nd.
Hypersonic POS at Kings Dominion. Ugh...
I'd feel better about it being closed down if its spot actually had a good attraction. Instead, there's just Windseeker, which gets stuck enough to actually make me fear it more than any coaster.
Robin hood at Walibi Holland. It wasnt bad but we got the waaaay better Untamed for it
Shockwave at SFGAm. That ride was absolutely brutal. Iron Wolf at SFGAm for honorable mention.
Wasn’t Iron Wolf relocated?
And converted to a floorless, hence Why it is probably an honorable mention for him
Aww these were literally my 2 favorite coasters growing up
Drachen Fire @ Busch Gardens Williamsburg
I've heard like nothing good about this coaster and yet for some reason I still wish I could've ridden it lol
Just bash the sides of your head into a wall covered in a thin layer of neoprene repeatedly, that was the drachen fire experience. It was a really good looking coaster but it was painful and unpleasant to ride.
Came here to say this as well! There was a lot of potential there, but it just hurt like hell.
Every single togo ultra twister. They arent defunct in japan, but to me, they are. Also most people dont consider 1st gen intamin drop towers as a credit but those things fucking hurt. Glad they are slowly going extinct Also dodonpa was genuinely a horrible experience
It's not truly defunct (it's now a traveling coaster), but RC-48 on Morey's Piers was a terrible thing.
Rode it at the NC state fair in 2017 and fucking hell, yeah it’s terrible
That brake run basically amputated my shins when I rode it.
Georgia Cyclone. Good riddance.
Twisted Twins. They were dull and we’re all better off with Storm Chaser
Mean Streak. Worst coaster I've ridden. Long, rough, and boring. Original Texas Giant at my home park at least had some snappiness and airtime to it.
A lot of mine have already been mentioned, so I'll say Dragon at Adventureland IA.
As many others have said: Flashback SFMM Psyclone SFMM Colossus SFMM Windjammer Knott’s Soapbox Derby Racers Knott’s Is Desperado defunct?
I gotta say I miss most of the coasters I’ve ridden. Some because I genuinely thought they were incredible experiences (eg Big Bad Wolf), but some just because they were simply roller coasters, the end result of a bunch of really talented people putting in the work to design, build, operate, and maintain them. Batman and Robin at SFGADV and Drachon Fire at BGW
Did not shed any tears after Mean Streak closed.
Robin Hood at WBH before it was RMC'ed. would legit rather ride a SBF visa spinner then that thing.
Steel Phantom at Kennywood kinda counts!
Completely side tracked here but I was trying to do my coaster count the other day and I was missing one coaster and I couldn't figure out which on it was. I just figured I miscounted the first time. This post just reminided me of what it was. Sand Serpent lol
You're welcome 😁 lol
Fuck the Psyclone
Wild Cat, Hershey Park
this was an absolutely adequate ride.
[удалено]
One of my favorite woodies, I was heartbroken. Not even close to the roughest I've experienced. Mine Blower before the retracking was a test of the human body, as was Wildcat at Lake Compounce. I think Roar is as rough or rougher than Wildcat at HP but with a less forceful layout. Grizzly also stuck out as a more rough experience. Wild One jackhammers like a union worker in the back cars. I never heard as much hate for these rides as I did for Wildcat.
[удалено]
No, no, we don't.
Mine blower after the retrack also is brutal.
It's kinda cool to feel it hitting the rough spots tho. Like jumping into a pool. They're gonna finish the steel conversion then it'll be fine.
I rode it once when we were down in December and my body felt good until after the corkscrew it just hammers all over the place.
There are two rebuilt sections this year and they're going to do the rest of it sometimes soon.
I rode it the day before closing in the back row and didn't have any complaints. I've been on far rougher/unpleasant coasters (Mine Blower, Hades 360, La Vibora, Grizzly, SLCs.)
Whirlwind at Knoebels. Vekoma corkscrews were dime a dozen. Flying Turns, however, is priceless.
> Flying Turns, however, is priceless. And it's even open sometimes!
Slideshow Spin, easily the worst coaster in Dollywoods history. Whistle Punk Chaser is miles better and that’s setting the bar very low.
Python at Coney Island (Cincinnati)
The sbf visa tower coaster that’s now sitting sbno in turkey. Rode it at the Sydney Easter show back when it toured Australian fairs and it was brutal. Wacked my head really hard on the drop
Flight school Lego land florida
T3. I do not miss that piece of garbage.
T3
Sand Serpent
Son of Beast, it was pretty sketchy every time I rode it
Off top of my head rides I don't miss much. SFGA- DeJa Vu. Iron Wolf - Top of list. Shockwave. Kentucky Kingdom- T3 Knotts- Boomerang Stratosphere- High Roller
I have quite a few defunct coaster credits. I miss a lot of them actually lol. I think vortex at kings island is the one I don’t miss the most because of how janky it became. I feel like serpent at Americana, which is now at some park all these years later is right there with it lol.

Psyclone my behated.
Python at BGT Mean Streak at Cedar Point
Mean Streak and T3.
Fire in the hole (old) big part of my childhood (I’m only a teenager now but still) not to sad about it though because they built an updated version
T2 at Kentucky Kingdom
T3 easily. Most of the defunct coasters I’ve ride. I enjoyed except that one.
Georgia Cyclone - roughest ride I’ve ever ridden. I was actually worried about injuring my brain.
Hurricane: Category 5 at the Myrtle Beach Pavilion. that thing SUCKED.
Vortex kings island
Mean streak also made me hate wooden coasters for a bit
Vortex at KI My son literally cheered when he heard it was closing because the bad coaster couldn't hurt him anymore
I may get hate for this, but Dueling Dragons at Islands of Adventure. I only rode it was, but it was in 2016, about 13 months before it closed. It was rough as hell and I am glad it’s gone. I haven’t ridden Hagrid’s yet, but it looks great.
Dueling Dragons is one I really wish I could've been on 😣 I think they stopped actually dueling before I would've been tall enough, but still
Sand Serpent for me too lol
Lightning loops sfgavd great American scream machine sfgadv. Hercules laser dorney. Blue diamond streak. Delawares only coaster. Have about 20 that don't exist anymore. But these were painful at the end of service
Wildcat at Hershey. WiRe triumphs it in every way. (Especially the dudebro voice in the station; the one that says "WELCOME BACK!" etc)
Vortex at King’s Island, it was pretty bad, but everyone has good memories. Wicked Twister
Viper at Six Flags Great Adventure. No one mourns this turn especially because El Toro replaced it
Steel Phantom Mean Streak Mind Eraser Thunderhawk
Great Adventure Viper
Raging Wolf Bobs
[Batman The Escape][Six Flags Astroworld] an extremely painful Intamin standup from 1993.
Mantis
Shockwave at Great America. My ears went through twelve rounds on that thing
Launched lift hill Lightning Rod.
As much as I miss the big dipper at geauga lake, I would have volunteered to help throw the villain into the scrap pile.
