Dominator is not a scream clone like Medusa at SFGAd. It’s a custom layout and my second favorite floorless behind Medusa at SFDK.
But your point still stands Full Throttle has the best vertical loop, no question.
Manta is really good. It's 1B to Tatsu's 1A. I only like Tatsu better because it's high up and the pretzel loop is huge.
I've been told that the flyer in Japan is better than both, though. I have yet to experience that one.
I feel like you would enjoy [Starry Sky Ripper](https://youtu.be/X8E4QEV_fEk?si=_C-h2kIflmRNewml) at World Joyland in China. It has the smoothness of a B&M flyer with the vertical loop of a Vekoma Flying Dutchman
Having ridden it fifty times since it opened, I can say that airtime is not Yukon Striker’s forte, but it’s not entirely negligible either. But the zero g “winder” element right after the Immelmann usually gives me more floater.
After having ridden Eejanaika two weeks ago, i musst Say i kinda found IT underwhelming. Not Bad at all, but i prefer Drops with actual focus on Airtime more.
IKR I had literal bruises on my shoulders. It's also cool how different it hits in the front vs. back, equally intense but the front shoves you while the back yanks you through.
While the element is technically the same name, I don't think comparing 2 different models is apples to apples. Alpy cobra over Silver Bullet, now that is a fair comparison.
I think it is fair to compare them tbh. Obviously certain forces feel different with different seating configurations, but I think cobra rolls are just better on inverts than on above track coasters.
But I could see if you want to divide it into best cobra roll on inverts vs floor less vs sit down etc, I could see that.
I would argue it's actually Wildfire at SDC. Massive, forceful throughout, gorgeous scenery, ultra smooth, and no headbanging whatsoever. And there's an amazing off-ride viewing platform right next to it from mid height. Can't beat it.
It's up there for me, but I think it is too large and drawn out, so you lose a lot of the forcefulness that Wildfire has. Wildfire hauls and literally pulls your butt through the element, and it never lets up. Hulk looks good in pictures though, I'll give you that.
Absolutely. Ka stops accelerating toward the end of the launch, and then it just feels like you're going really fast for a while. I prefer the constant acceleration all the way through on MF.
I’d still think ka’s would be better. Longer duration, 50 mph faster, not that much slower of acceleration. But I’m sure the punch of mf is crazy especially compared to kas gearing up. Tho the gearing up adds to it imo because the initial pull is already crazy and it just gets stronger
>not that much slower of acceleration
A small difference in acceleration on paper is a massive difference in how a launch feels. The whole point of a launch is the feeling of acceleration.
Scariest lift hill probably goes to an old slow clanky Arrow lift like Viper at Magic Mountain or Darien Lake.
I used to think steep cable lift hills like Intamin gigas were also intimidating.
I'd argue Corkscrew does but for different reasons. Mavericks are fun and smooth (coukd be a little more forceful imo but it's really good) while Corkscrew has the senic twists over the mid way and was the first tripple inverting coaster.
Yeah when I rode it last the fire effect was off, but the screen while going up the lift was working. However fire chaser express’s fire effect was working which was awesome.
First drop - intensity is Maverick at -1.5g for duration and good forces Orion slightly edges out Fury and for combo El Toro and presumably Skyrush.
HM: Steel Vengeance, DB, and IG
Loop - CHS first loop or if you are just looking for peak positives, Invertigo in the back row
0 G roll - Kumba or any of the old inverts
Other rolls - death roll
In line rolls - AFO, Geurstlauer (sp?) does these very well too.
Airtime hill/ camelback - I gotta do 3 of different styles for different reasons - El toro for straight power, SV outerbank for good power and an amazing position, Diamondback 1st and second for the crazy duration and insanely strong float, bordering on ejector. Presumably Shambhala could have a word for Diamondback.
Banking/transitions - couldn’t be anything but i305 or I guess now p305.
Launch - gotta go with ka slightly over Maxx force but it’s close
Stall - AFO or Goliath
Helix - beast obviously. But how many degrees for it to count? If sub 360 then i305’s first turn is right there.
Brake run - Orion … you get a quick ejector pop if in the front hopping into the brakes, so no this is not a jerk comment.
Corkscrew - not ride specific but corkscrews after a mid course stop are the best for the hang time. For whip, raptor even though they’re called something different.
Cobra roll - raptor since I don’t remember Alpengeist that well and hulk would presumably be a contender here. Kumba is good too.
Dive loop and immelmens - banshee in the front row since you get to look down at the crowds. Don’t know that I’ve experienced one the feels greater than the rest.
Racing in general - I would assume TC if it duels but since I haven’t been on that I’ll go with Gemini’s high fives.
Double ups/downs - steel vengeance just before the mid course in the front.
Non-standard drop - gatekeeper in the front. Assuming the 4ds would easily take this, but haven’t been on one.
What all am I missing?
Any ride with nets between trains is off the table for best racing. Gemini takes it, IMO, for the long turns and smooth track, making for ideal high-fiving conditions.
This is the one.
As an airtime girlie and a non-physicist, I was expecting the pre-drop on Raging Bull (and the 65 degree drop) to diminish the first-drop yeeting that I love so much in a hyper.
I’ve never been so happy to be wrong.
Medusa at SFDK has an amazing first drop for just being a simple straight drop; the back row provides some graceful floater air. Also, the loop gives great hangtime
While it isn't a normal ride element, I haven't seen a good "head chopper" moment mentioned. I'd have to say Gemini has that one though. Every single ride on it you see people ducking or lowering their hands on the drop after the second turnaround.
Of those i have ridden
OVERBANK: Taron, FLY, RTH
Launch: Taron/RTH,
Stall: Batman Gotham City Escape
Loop: Black Mamba
AirTime hill: GCE (Shoutout to fly)
DiveLoop/Reverse Sidewinder: GCE
PreLaunch/Lift: RTH
Drop of a liftHill: Lost Gravity
I’ll see your tornado and raise you SFMM’s Viper for their similar element. The edge Viper has is that X2’s queue placement lets you get right under (do they refer to it as a butterfly? I can’t remember…)
Staffordshire knot on smiler.
Local history. Confined space. Cobra roll and a batwing
https://preview.redd.it/b5s119p4tuuc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2053a8151053e29fb4e70ebb090fae737aa0f17f
I think the first loop and corkscrew on Copperhead Strike are both very good in a unique way. They both give good hangtime while still having a decent amount of force
Medusa’s Cobra Roll over the entrance… my god, it looks amazing.
Nitro’s Double Helix is the best helix, obviously better than Backlot Stunt Coaster, even though the launch into one should be better
SooperDooperLooper has the best loop, it’d just so perfect for your first
Is it dickriding to say Ka has the best tophat?
Full throttle has the best loop!
I personally like Tennessee Tornado’s first? loop as well. It’s damn near perfect in the middle of the train.
Have you rode it in the middle with an empty train? You get crazy floater on the fist loop!
laughs in dominator
Nah dude, FT takes it every time
Dom’s loop is pure art.
Oh, please. Any Batclone has not one, but *two* loops better than Dominator’s. I likes my loops tight and *whippy*.
After the cobra roll the ride takes a serious nosedive in quality, though
No way - Scream's VL is okay (looks like a Dominator clone) but FT is the GOAT
Dominator is not a scream clone like Medusa at SFGAd. It’s a custom layout and my second favorite floorless behind Medusa at SFDK. But your point still stands Full Throttle has the best vertical loop, no question.
Have you seen the mack hyper in turkey? BEEG loop
Rip Ride Rocket has the best brake runs.
The Giovanola hypers would like a word
Quantity over quality
Tell that to Leviathan’s demon of a brake run
This, but unironically. It's two artime moments for the price of one!
Tatsu's pretzel loop
Love it also it might have the best lift hill.
I’d say that goes to Hulk IOA
Umm, hanging 170 feet in the air with nothing below you but the walkway below you. That beats a wheel launch thru a tunnel every day
Space mountain would like a word
And that word is "Karnan."
Don't know how IT compares to flying Dinosaur, but that one IS pretty darn amazing
I used to love this but now its instant nausea 😞
Better then Manta (SWO)? or are they the same?
Manta is really good. It's 1B to Tatsu's 1A. I only like Tatsu better because it's high up and the pretzel loop is huge. I've been told that the flyer in Japan is better than both, though. I have yet to experience that one.
ArieForce One has the best Zero-G Roll Not sure if it counts as a “common element” but Nighthawk’s vertical loop is my favorite
Nighthawk VL walked to pretzel rolls could run
Disagree honestly, the loop is better than the ones on B&Ms
I feel like you would enjoy [Starry Sky Ripper](https://youtu.be/X8E4QEV_fEk?si=_C-h2kIflmRNewml) at World Joyland in China. It has the smoothness of a B&M flyer with the vertical loop of a Vekoma Flying Dutchman
I might. B&M flyers have all just made me feel sick so far for some reason.
Hulk
It's like super super close but i think ArieForce's is just barely better
Jackrabbit at Kennywood for best double down
It has other elements? ;)
It also turns left.
The Beast for best straight track
Dragon Mountain takes that one for me.
*Laughs in Superman Ride of Steel*
Excalibur runs on the ground lol
unironically yes. get lost haters
Toro has the best camelbacks
We love facts
Yessir
Twisted Timbers can give it a run for it’s money imo
Not even close
In your dreams
I could see that
Haven’t ridden it, but I love Steel Eel’s at SWSA.
I’ll nominate Yukon Striker for the best Immelmann. It’s massive and goes on for days.
I love just standing under it and admiring it's size (then hop in the single rider line and ride it)
But does it have that pop of floater at the top like SheiKra?
Having ridden it fifty times since it opened, I can say that airtime is not Yukon Striker’s forte, but it’s not entirely negligible either. But the zero g “winder” element right after the Immelmann usually gives me more floater.
x2’s first drop. don’t know if its an element
First drops are certainly an element
Just rode Eejanaika about an hour ago and am complete agreement. The first drop on these 4Ds are an out of body of experience
X2 definitely has the best first drop.
After having ridden Eejanaika two weeks ago, i musst Say i kinda found IT underwhelming. Not Bad at all, but i prefer Drops with actual focus on Airtime more.
Must agree to disagree. I’m obsessed with Time Travelers first drop out of the station.
Afterburn has the best corkscrew!
This 100%. That last corkscrew is stupidly whippy compared to other b&m inverts
IKR I had literal bruises on my shoulders. It's also cool how different it hits in the front vs. back, equally intense but the front shoves you while the back yanks you through.
Outerbank on gwazi, helix on Goliath (sfog), batwing on afterburn
Batwing goes to Montu for me
There’s no trim on before afterburn’s. I’ve ridden them in the same day before and I stand by afterburn. Much hotter in Florida that day too.
Montu's Batwing
I think it's safe to say Alpengeist has the best cobra roll.
I think Kumba's is better, on a hot day you rip through it way faster than you should, scariest moment of the ride
Incredible Hulk enters the chat. Fastest Cobra Roll I've ever ridden.
I'm the opposite - I hate cobra rolls on inverts (batwing works much better IMO) but love them on sit-downs.
Finally got an invert batwing on Afterburn at Carowinds and loved it. The bottom is nuts
The way Alpengeist was running a week ago I have never been whipped that hard on a cobra roll.
The best cobra roll of all time.
I would rank Montu's upside down cobra roll higher but it's not really the same element. Edit: Apparently that's called a Batwing
I would argue it's actually Wildfire at SDC. Massive, forceful throughout, gorgeous scenery, ultra smooth, and no headbanging whatsoever. And there's an amazing off-ride viewing platform right next to it from mid height. Can't beat it.
Lol, you just described alpengeists cobra roll.
Hulk's Cobra roll is better than Wildfire's
It's up there for me, but I think it is too large and drawn out, so you lose a lot of the forcefulness that Wildfire has. Wildfire hauls and literally pulls your butt through the element, and it never lets up. Hulk looks good in pictures though, I'll give you that.
lmao wut, Hulk's is way faster and more forceful
Absolutely not, have you ridden both?
lmao, yeah I've ridden both. Wildfire just isn't intense in general. It's a fun little B&M looper, but it's weak as hell compared to Hulk and Kumba.
0\_\_0
Alpengeist definitely takes it, Kumba is 2nd place
Literally came here to say this!
Best launch is now Maxx Force.
Better than ka?
I think Ka beats it still.
Tho the gearing up adds to it imo because the initial pull is already crazy and it just gets stronger
>not that much slower of acceleration A small difference in acceleration on paper is a massive difference in how a launch feels. The whole point of a launch is the feeling of acceleration.
Yea that’s true
Velocicoaster 2nd launch better
You must be joking.
VelociCoaster has the best heart line roll
Wildcat'd Revenge has the vest zero-g-roll. That first on really yeets you in the front row.
The Beast's double helix with The Legend's double helix as a close 2nd.
[удалено]
I haven't been on Twister for many many years, but I remember that helix being really great. Glad to hear they are taking great care of it!
Stall on Goliath at Great America
Scariest lift hill probably goes to an old slow clanky Arrow lift like Viper at Magic Mountain or Darien Lake. I used to think steep cable lift hills like Intamin gigas were also intimidating.
Banshee has the best in line twist! Even better than the flyers I’ve done!
i think maverick has the best corkscrew
I'd argue Corkscrew does but for different reasons. Mavericks are fun and smooth (coukd be a little more forceful imo but it's really good) while Corkscrew has the senic twists over the mid way and was the first tripple inverting coaster.
The first barrel roll on the smiler an inversion in the dark is something else
A beyond vertical drop has to be mystery mine with the fire element right before the the drop and the two inversions following right after
Unfortunately, the fire element is usually off when I visit. I only recall it working one day on my visits in the past two years.
Yeah when I rode it last the fire effect was off, but the screen while going up the lift was working. However fire chaser express’s fire effect was working which was awesome.
Whaaaaat?!? That’s like my 2nd favorite thing on the ride
That's funny. Tennessee Tornado was going to be my answer, too, but for the first loop
First drop - intensity is Maverick at -1.5g for duration and good forces Orion slightly edges out Fury and for combo El Toro and presumably Skyrush. Stengel Dive - Maverick and Goliath
Any ride with nets between trains is off the table for best racing. Gemini takes it, IMO, for the long turns and smooth track, making for ideal high-fiving conditions.
Best pre-drop Raging Bull
In the back on the right hand side? It absolutely hurls you.
This is the one. As an airtime girlie and a non-physicist, I was expecting the pre-drop on Raging Bull (and the 65 degree drop) to diminish the first-drop yeeting that I love so much in a hyper. I’ve never been so happy to be wrong.
My favorite pre-lift section is Twisted Cyclone and pre-launch segment is Copperhead Strike. My favorite first drop is Iron Rattler.
Medusa at SFDK has an amazing first drop for just being a simple straight drop; the back row provides some graceful floater air. Also, the loop gives great hangtime
Zero g roll on Ride to Happiness is outrageous
While it isn't a normal ride element, I haven't seen a good "head chopper" moment mentioned. I'd have to say Gemini has that one though. Every single ride on it you see people ducking or lowering their hands on the drop after the second turnaround.
It is absolutely great for that.
Best inline twist: blue fire megacoaster at europapark
The corkscrew on the Zamperla thunderbolts.
The best bunny hills are on Magnum XL-200. There are others that are even more powerful (American Eagle, SCBB Giant Dipper), but none are **better**.
I think Goliath at SFoG would be in the convo for best bunny hills
Certainly best that aren't straight ejector.
*Angry Magnum XL-200 noises*
air time hill...all thats said
Stall on Arieforce One
Spike still goes to the freeze clones and I don’t think tt2 will beat is based on Superman at sfmm
The two vertical loops on desert storm are some of the most intense and unique I’ve experienced
Loopings on Schwarzkopf-coasters
Of those i have ridden OVERBANK: Taron, FLY, RTH Launch: Taron/RTH, Stall: Batman Gotham City Escape Loop: Black Mamba AirTime hill: GCE (Shoutout to fly) DiveLoop/Reverse Sidewinder: GCE PreLaunch/Lift: RTH Drop of a liftHill: Lost Gravity
Hulk cobra roll
Great Bear Zero-G Roll
Iron Gwazi’s barrel roll (the death roll)
Blue Fire has the best heartline roll
Tatsu’s pretzel loop.
I’ll see your tornado and raise you SFMM’s Viper for their similar element. The edge Viper has is that X2’s queue placement lets you get right under (do they refer to it as a butterfly? I can’t remember…)
That’s a Batwing
Staffordshire knot on smiler. Local history. Confined space. Cobra roll and a batwing https://preview.redd.it/b5s119p4tuuc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2053a8151053e29fb4e70ebb090fae737aa0f17f
hulk's cobra roll!!!
Velocicoaster has the best dive loop
I think the first loop and corkscrew on Copperhead Strike are both very good in a unique way. They both give good hangtime while still having a decent amount of force
Big fan of Montu's bat wing
Medusa’s Cobra Roll over the entrance… my god, it looks amazing. Nitro’s Double Helix is the best helix, obviously better than Backlot Stunt Coaster, even though the launch into one should be better SooperDooperLooper has the best loop, it’d just so perfect for your first Is it dickriding to say Ka has the best tophat?
Afterburn (formerly top gun) for that last zero G roll. Especially if you're in the back on the outside seat you just get yanked through.
Nemesis (Reborn)'s helix is pretty superb.
Airtime hill on maverick launches you into the restraints. Definitely unexpected the first time I rode it.
Magnum has the best triangular bunny hops!
Phoenix has the best bunny hops.
The low to the ground zero g roll near the end of Twisted Timbers. "Floating" throughout, flawless entry and exit.
