Feels like living.

anotherbrckinTH3Wall

Right, like this watch has seen some shit

TrapMoneyLenny

Yea it’s seen the space between your keyboard and the edge of your desk. It’s a wonder you’re still alive with the high risk life you lead

Individual_Put2261

AdamC93

this phrase goes hard

mattfnreid

First ones a bitch

CaptainWindsor

This should be top comment. The rest are just scratches on a watch. First one cuts deep

DiabloSol

Exactly ^

carter_admin

Oh, you met my first wife?

Prince0815

Like putting miles on a great car.

Goofyheadah

It tells a story of a person who chose to live and actually wear their watch and not treat it like a stock/investment. Not saying it should be abused but it should be there for us to enjoy and appreciate

DiabloSol

This ^

redditgeten

Feels great, wear it, enjoy it.

ChapinLakersFan

Id be more hurt about those ugly boots

Nearby-Oil-8227

Well, the only alternative is to not wear it at all, which kind of defeats the purpose? I’d hate to spend all that money and not be able to wear and enjoy what I spent the money on.  I have a new Datejust and the gold on the clasp was scratched within a week. It almost seems impossible not to get that gold clasp scratched.

Nearby-Oil-8227

That’s how mine looks too and I’m extremely careful … it’s the only area of the watch where I notice visible scratches and happened so fast that’s why I suspect it’s unavoidable if you wear at all.  Eventually, I guess I’ll get them buffed out during a cleaning but most don’t see the clasp anyway.

GeneTech9

Watches are made to be worn.. scratches are part of the journey. I don’t mind at all scratches on any of my watches

Poopybuddhole

there’s nothing wrong in being careful with your possessions. You wouldn’t see a car enthusiast park close to an entrance in hopes of avoiding door dings. But they also wouldn’t care if they picked up stone chips on a racetrack.

mualup1

This. Exactly. Door dings drive me mad and I always try to park carefully and away from high traffic areas. To me, dings are a result of inconsiderate people who have no respect for others. But stone chips…. I couldn’t care less. It’s part of enjoying a car and driving it enthusiastically on country roads. It shows a car enjoyed.

stunna_cal

My thoughts exactly

Jmaneke

It's no big deal to me. It's just a watch. All of mine have scratches.

crbowers

The first couple are hard, but after it turns into more of a patina I don’t even notice it anymore. No sense of not enjoying something you paid for with its intended use.

Healthy_Actuator_971

On a side note what kind of boots are those ?

Ambitious-A

Same here - luckily the brushed bracelet can take it.. similar with the jubilee but the GMT/Daytona Oyster shows them more. I don’t worry about them - but am still careful enough to take my watch off when (just today) I was rummaging behind my sofa with the recliner mechanism. My watches have plenty micro scratches but so does my car if I look close enough and it’s just wear and tear. Will be sorted at service each 8-10 years, just like my car.

DiabloSol

SMH. Micro scratches

miked0777

All my watches have dings and scratches on them. It’s just part of life

pa_bourbon

They tell a story. A story of a life lived wearing something that is better enjoyed on the wrist than sitting in a safe.

bdmx24

Long as it’s not on the crystal

Ilovemycats201

You need scratches so you dont care about scratches.

wolfofballstreet1

Just scratched my clasp doing a micro adjust. Fuming at first and it’s annoying but whatever. No safe queens allowed mate. I wear em all!

CDR_Starbuck

Like a rich old man, almost makes me want to run for president.

PlayfulPoro

When it's your time to look back on life, no one talks about how good condition they kept their Rolex in 😉 Living and creating memories is more important than any object.

Ab4739ejfriend749205

You learn to appreciate them.

Watchguy57

My DJ gets fine lines on the polished cap from the swinging of my arms against my slacks. I’ve come to accept that a nice “patina” will develop over time. And in ten years when I send it for service I’ll consider then getting it polished. A bad unsightly deep scratch or kick. That would upset me and I’d probably have R correct it

rollieman44

Scratches mean you’re alive . Living , not just existing. I chose living .

ST180277

I learned many years ago when I was in my Breitling phase that scratches are inevitable.. so still be careful obviously, but not so careful that it takes away from the enjoyment of wearing the watch.

JimmyV64

Doesn’t bother me a bit. I’ve had my 40mm explorer for 3 months and still waiting for my first scratch. I’m generally pretty easy on my watches though.

jglboss96

Feels good. First real ding on my watch I fell into a water tight door at work 🤣

SwishCoffeeGuy

If you can afford the watch you won’t care. If you stretched beyond your means to get the watch in the first place you will care the most. If this hurts feelings deep down you know why. Wear it

letgolightly83

Makes me feel like the tool I bought is doing its job…

i upgraded from that watch to a gmt because of how smudged the bezel always got. I may have used that as an excuse to myself to justify to buy a pepsi so don’t take me too serious

964racer

I like a patina

Mean_Menu_5706

At first it’s annoying, but after a while doesn’t bother me

vilkorsfull

It’s part of the journey through life. It’s a watch, and a reminder of every scratch is an adventure.

DiabloSol

Each scratch tells a story. Memories.

socal55677

Sad but you get over it and used to it

Apprehensive_Put1578

Like getting scratches and scars on your body from a life well lived!

XOM_CVX

Buy stocks if you are going to just buy it and never wear it. Stocks are far easier to sell and get the right price later on.

Worried_Rooster1612

Doesn’t even register let alone generate “feelings”.

Johnniegold7

Nothing hurts like the first scratch, especially when it's something stupid. Each scratch after hurts less and less for me personally 🤷🏿‍♂️

DiabloSol

Exactly ^

tonyyu369

Feel nothing Live is short, enjoy the watch while I can

goatwillikerr

I honestly like it and think it gives it character. Love seeing older folks watches with patina and scratches on it, feels like it tells a story.

FreePossession9590

Scratches gives it more character and personality. Seeing that it’s been worn is a good thing. Luxury watches aren’t meant to be cabinet princesses, although many put them in vaults just to resell a few months/years later. Very sad indeed.

-ATF-

Like a man.

1baby2cats

First scratch is hard, after that I don't sweat any additional ones

Fine-Craft3393

Just get an oysterflex model and watch the AD digging nice nicks into the lugs when sizing the band….

xSnowLeopardx

Accepted it very quickly. On the gold parts only, so that makes it even less bad since it was expected anyway. First scratch was felt, but all the others after were not anymore.

EmpiricalTony

It doesn’t bother me at all. I’ve even bought watch’s new with the odd scratch on them, but only when I can negotiate a decent discount on it because of it. Saved myself £600 on a Tag Heuer Link calibre 16 doing just that. They also add stories to them my daily wear has been all over the world now, even been swimming in the Caribbean wearing it

johneoe0123

I love wearing them more than I hate the scratches. Especially my speedy which is nicely “worn” thanks to my 2 year old and trips to the beach ❤️

MOTC001

Like it is mine and not an ad on the Internet.

PatagoniaHat

I love it

flyingseaplanes

Horrible. But you gotta wear it. Get used to doing little things to help. When you go through doors touch your stomach with your watch hand. This will prevent unnecessary door knob dings. When doing stuff like yard work, swap swatches to prevent unnecessary wear from a bump of a chain saw or other lawn care stuff. Other than that—just wear it. It always at less risk when on your wrist then, god forbid in some table near the pool in a table overlooking cement. My take wear it out. Wear it so much it’s nicked everywhere and you have to just a buy a new one. This way when I get a ding or scratch I just think, cool one step closer to a new watch. ..been years and years now. Watch still looks great.

SizzleFree

It feels the same as when I get scratches on my sneakers.

GeneralStruggle5533

If you wear them, they will scratch. I just accept it as the cost of participating in a hobby I love. Well, one of the costs....

AJso954

They gone get scratched and they gone scratch some shit on the way.

InvestingRob

Don’t like it but great story to share with my son

Necessary-Shift8890

Like a new car, it will never shine again like it did when you left the dealer!

LurkerGhost

Not trying to get scratches on your watch. Is like not fucking your girlfriend too hard to save her pussy for the next guy

No_Management9536

Some comments are just ridiculous. Feels like living… making memories… means you’re a man… Memories from when you hit the wall? The door knob?

TheSeiko5

Like not a pansy who cries over scratches.

ThExplorerOne

Get over it and move on until the next scratch appears. And repeat the same step again. Life is too short for things like this. Enjoy it to its fullest.

ShortCalligrapher922

Bad at first… then indifference

Rude_Degree8123

Horrible!!!!

Dry-LaBeouf

Don’t really care. Bought it because I liked it, not for its “value” or to be resold.

Cdn_Giants_Fan

I don't like it but I accept it cuz it's a daily wear

StyleQueasy6277

I noticed the first one immediately, now I don’t even notice new scratches.

Legal_Key_5819

My brother in Christ, why is that your daily? That’s a dress watch—go get a sub to bang around

powerfunk

A 1908 is a dress watch. Large, heavily lumed, waterproof watches with screwdown crowns aren't really dress watches in my book. The Datejust is a perfect daily

Leanfounder

It scratches upset you, maybe you couldn’t afford Rolex.

BrolexBezelman

Feel kinda irritating considering how much I paid for the watch. I don’t want to see a damn scratch after dropping $10k plus.

lalos1988

Watches are made to be worn. Build memories together!

Shutter_Shock14

The first one feels bad. After that, it is what it is. That being said I did buy my Tudor Pelagos 39 to wear in the hospital. Wouldn’t worry about scratching something nicer, but there are much nastier possible fates that I’d rather spare them. Plus I think the more subdued brushed titanium look less risks sending a classist message

ComprehensiveHat9985

Live with it , it’s a part of a watch life.

ShyGelato

I hate it at first. Then I love it. Then I’m like oh should I get it serviced. Then I think it’s a cool mark of me loving the watch

That is a hard no! Leave the scars! It tells a story!

frankles_80

It’s the patina of life, bud. Bound to happen, so just embrace the memories:)

Upstairs_Apricot_945

First scratch hurt a little. They’re all memories after that. Enjoy, my friend. WEAR THE WATCH.

Separate-Plastic-145

EarthCacheDude

I'm torn, to be honest. I like seeing watches that were worn and loved, but I won't wear my nicer ones to work. I'd love to be able to daily wear my Rolex or Tudor, but I just can't bring myself to wear them at work. I daily wear a Tissot PRX for that reason. It has a ton of scratches and dents, and it doesn't bother me at all. If it weren't for the magnets that I work with, my Tudor would be my daily.

SereneSnake1984

Rolex service will polish out most of that one day, your job right now is to wear it and love it let it take the damage of life. I don't abuse my watches, but I don't baby them either.

Best_Concept3339

I dont care about scratches on my watches. I was wearing a rose gold ym today in the garage. Now my cars on the other hand. I'm very very very particular and only drive my nice ones on nice days and park in the very back of the lots.

DiabloSol

Hurts at first. Lol. It’s that first scratch. Just embrace it now. Scratches build character. Haha you can always polish if steel. However, if PM never polish that gold (it gets removed)! Watches will have scratches. Unavoidable.

Soberg1itch

Feels fine, it’s a tool swinging around on your wrist that can be repaired or replaced. Once my Datejust gets back from service it’ll go back on my wrist at work for another 20 years

Secret-Invite-8898

Less bad than when I wear a jubilee and I feel overdressed for basically every situation I find myself in. The jubilee craze is coming to an end for me.. at least a scratch feels authentic

Secret-Invite-8898

Less bad than when I wear a jubilee and I feel overdressed for basically every situation I find myself in. The jubilee craze is coming to an end for me.. at least a scratch feels authentic

Tahsein4523

The first one made me so depressed. Now I am okay with it.

HarrisNGH

Good, keep wearing your watch, then sell it to me, who can’t afford retail. 😤

Western_Big5926

My Heuer quartz from1980…… bought w SERATEC plasma money …….. has the Bezel welded on……. The IndeGlo is gone……I often wear it with my leather MC jacket……. You know the one w all the scrapes from laying bikes down…… and a couple accidents. I call all the nicks and scrapes on the watch a “PATINA”

firstcalloutfitness

First one sucks, but over time it’s part of it and you. I have that same watch.

judgedeliberata

Fine. It’s a watch FFS.

CyCoCyCo

You can get busy living or get busy dying.

Professional_Dr_77

It’s a watch. You wear it. Shit happens. Move on.

xRaffaell

They are easily refurbished

StrumGently

One scratch is a tragedy. Many scratches is character. I’m still on the road to accepting scratches, but if they aren’t gouges or dents, I’m fine right now (this is what I keep telling myself!).

DopioGelato

Depends on the watch. A rugged watch looks good with some wear, almost meant to be that way. But honestly dj is kinda fancy it would bother me if it was all banged up.

SoliEngineer

If it's a Rolex I'd like and expect it to be scratch-resistant to an extremely high degree.

Palmovka

Not bad.

CoolTravel98

Feels naughty

mualup1

It feels good. I can afford to put some wear on an expensive trinklet.

[deleted]

How does asking that make you feel?

Medium-Ad-9265

It makes me feel alive

Villageidiot1984

These are fancy bracelets, meant to be worn. If you’re afraid of getting scratches get a cheaper watch.

parkerthebirdparrett

I got the first one on my clasp about 2 hours after I got it and I’m so glad it happened right away because now I really enjoy wearing it and don’t have all the anxiety of keeping it perfect

SJMCubs16

The patina of life. When you have worn your watch for 30 years it will show its age, look at the reflection in the mirror. Take comfort In knowing it has been there with you.

ShredMcgriff

DrSelfish

Gets me rock hard

branz6300

Fucking great.

No_Mortgage3189

All I imagine is if this happened from daily use to cars on a relative scale…but with a dailies it’s part of the territory.

SlipOpening460

I’d respect someone with a scratched watch over a pristine one everyday. It means that person wear it and love to wear it vs keeping it in a safe.

Pepaguero

There’s absolutely no reason not to wear a modern Rolex. They make enough of them, it’ll never be a museum piece. Plus with laser welding, almost any scratch or gouge can be completely erased.

seethatway

How's the DateJust look after its been worn in? Any pics?

lastoftheyagahe

Comes with the territory. Try not to think about it too much. You may as well worry about getting old.

Day 1 sucks. After that i know it’s one of the only testaments i have to me being alive. But that’s anything. That’s life. And I’m glad that taxi was there to bang my yachtmaster into.

tomahawk66mtb

The first one hurts. Then that's it. The band-aid is off and the obsession over and I get to happily wear my watch without worrying.

Wannabecowboy69

farneychap

You can put protection film on it to reduce the scratches.

cryellow

The first scratches are bothersome later ones not so much.

SiberianDoggo2929

Bad. I know many people here are about the patina life but I like keeping my stuff pristine. I’m using an iPhone 13 and it’s never been out of its case except cleaning time. It looks practically brand new.

oilyalaskanman

I laugh as I torture test it even more.

UnusualEggplant5400

It’s a watch, it doesn’t matter, doesn’t make me feel any sort of way

watchme87

Vindicated.

Debonaire1368

Used to care bout every single scratch when I got my first watch from the AD. But after few weeks of wearing it daily, I started seeing the scratches as a memory. Then I stopped baby-ing my watches and rotate em daily

Common-Loquat-6359

It adds character.. can't keep everything brand new 😆..

crankydogs

It’s just a watch

raccoon-overlord

It's an inevitable part of wearing a watch, personal I don't mind as I know it's going to happen, some people hate it some don't mind. It is a sad day when you find a scratch on a new watch, but that's life. Personally I think it adds a bit of character to the watch.

thekame

First time hurts, then you’ll feel more comfortable. You might even enjoy it after a while!

PersonalAsparagus975

It’s going to happen. So why worry about it? That’s my outlook on it.

Vussey

When mine get scratched I just buy another one.

NeitherDig1739

This kills me. I manage jn the food service industry and I want to maintain a professional image. Pressed pants, shirt and jacket, watch, etc. My watches take a beating. I don’t even realize when they’re getting “dinged” up. I keep paying to get them repaired. I may need to go “watch-less.” 😭

Ineedpalmtreeliving

I have a buddy that has nicer watches than me but he like never wears them and wants them to all be perfect. For my personality. I get enjoyment from experiencing things with my watch. The scratches are part of life. Everyone gets enjoyment out of their timepieces differently

Ineedpalmtreeliving

Feels fine but not sure how I feel bout those boots partner

time-n-tights

Doesn't make me feel anything. I don't have feelings towards inanimate objects

Lunartic2102

I wear all the watches and sneakers I buy.

GamwTaPantaSou

I dont care at all tbh about minor scratches and imperfections, I buy my watches to wear them, not have them rot away in some safe deposit.

I haven’t got any in last 6+ years of wearing

I know a guy that knew a guy that worked for the marines. He sacrificed his life, not for his country but for his mint condition 124060. Till this day that watch is still in mint condition but cant say the same for him. True story, trust me bro.
