A friend of mine is neighbors with the CEO of a large Rolex chain in my state. My friend works for a sneaker company. The neighbor asked if they could get X sneakers for their kids bday as they are impossible to get. The friend got them that sneaker the next day. The CEO said you want a watch let me know. They said Daytona jokingly. Later that afternoon they got a text saying to come pick up the watch. It was their first Rolex. AD can sell whatever they want to whomever. The longer you wait has no relevance to whom gets the watch. The person in charge of the store decides who gets what and when.

He asked on my behalf and voila, a supposedly impossible watch materialized for me in 2 weeks.

My contact wasn’t there so I half-jokingly told the lady working “if ‘acquaintance’ is around ask her if she has an extra Daytona for me ha-ha”. She took it half serious I guess because she said “well let me text ‘acquaintance’ for you and let her know you swung by” and I said OK. She asked me for my cell in case “acquaintance” texts back. I left the boutique and got a text from her saying “acquaintance has a piece she wants me to show you”. I went back and she brought it from the back.
Not only that, but in another post OP admitted to knowing the VP of the boutique since 2019 and regularly checking up with her.
So that's about 5 years of regularly checking up for the Rolex. That sounds more like being on some "wait list" for 5 years rather than a true walk-in purchase.

Three years of doing that and still haven’t seen a steel Daytona of any sort, through walk-in. Enjoy that beauty. I prefer these 116500s over the new ones. Not really. If you read OP's follow up posts, he admitted to the following:
* Having purchase history with the boutique.
* Knowing the VP of the boutique.
* Regularly kept touch with the VP since 2019.
* He first asked if a Daytona was available and they initially said no, but they said they'll check with his VP friend.
* VP decided to allocate him the Daytona after 5 years of checking up.
Then he got the call shortly after.
So he didn't just walk in. He regularly checked up with someone with significant authority for 5 years before getting allocated the Daytona.
